why so massive
editthis template practically takes over any page it's on, it's huge - e.g. Harikesa Swami Chopper Dave (talk) 03:11, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
A Few Things
editFirst: Related Traditions: ISKCON?? ISKCON is not a tradition, it's an organization that practices a specific Vaishnav tradition: Gaudiya, so I'm gonna change that.
Second: Prabhupad is listed as a "philosopher-acharya", but prabhupad is an epithet/honorific, not a person. I think whoever put that was referring to Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj, but if so, they're skipping over a lot of other prominent GV acharyas such as Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, who was also referred to as prabhupad, so I'm just going to delete it for now. If someone decides to add Swami Maharaj, then I'll add a few other GV acharyas, who I feel are just as important to mention, but at that rate, I'm not sure if there should just be a separate section on the template for Gaudiya Vaishnavism.
Third: There are quite a few scriptures missing: Mahabharata, Ramayana & for Gaudiya: Chaitanya Charitamrita. I will add these, but I feel like this template is gonna get ugly fast. Maybe we can try to rework it to be more aesthetically pleasing? I really like the one for Islam. Looks clean and easy to read/understand/navigate. Who is primarily working on this? I'll check in the Hinduism discussion.
Fourth: I think in order to avoid complaints from various Vaishnava sampradayas and practitioners, a good rule of thumb might be to organize things by date primarily, and if that can't be agreed upon, alphabetical order. That way it doesn't seem as though Wikipedia is saying that "these things are more important which is why they're first", but can show why they're listed in the order they are in. I'm not going to do this 'cause it would be a major edit, so I'd prefer to talk about it with a few people first, but just putting it out there.
Fifth: I think it'd be good to include some of the stuff that is in the Islam one such as beliefs, practices, etc. stuff that all Vaishnava branches have in common.
I think that's all for now... Gndd108 (talk) 00:31, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
