Fix Template
Can someone fix this template? It's putting articles in Category:-Class television articles, which shouldn't even exist. I looked at the code and I'm absolutely stumped. -N 10:23, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Auto assessed articles appearing in two places
Auto-assessed articles are appearing in both Category:Automatically assessed television articles and in Category:Automatically assessed Television articles. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 18:34, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- This should now be fixed. AnmaFinotera (talk) 16:44, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
"??? class"
I don't have the time right now, but I was going to try editing this template to fix a problem. The issue is, with all article talk pages, even if you've added an assessment for the TV WP banner, it lists the class on the left side of the tag as "???" when it should have a colored background "B", "Start", etc. I believe this happens with TV articles of all classes; even FAs, like Lost (TV series) list ??? as the assessment on the left side of the tag. The importance works, but not the class. This needs to be fixed, and I'll try to do it soon, although the code is a little baffling... JamieS93 13:50, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm...I thought maybe my recent edits to add the FL Class broke it, but I undid and still not wasn't working. Blech. The template class seems to be working at least. The code is so confusing, and looking at others hasn't helped. Maybe someone at Wikipedia:WikiProject Templates can help? AnmaFinotera (talk) 15:14, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- I asked in there and discovered it isn't our banner at all, but {{WPMILHIST/Class}}, which we seem to be using for some unknown reason. I've created our own class file that uses the old code, before WPMILHIST changed theirs, updated the template, and all is good again. AnmaFinotera (talk) 16:25, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, it is NOT working--an article in alpha on a Japanese TV series, a·ki·re·ta–DEKA (see User:B.C.Schmerker/Article Prototype8), is correctly categorized, but the Template Class repeater is malfunctioning, as of this post (stating NA for a non-article when it should read Stub for a Stub-class article). Please fix Template class and priority repeaters. B. C. Schmerker (talk) 08:08, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Updates due to Task Force
How do we request updates to this template, specifically for the addition of a Task Force? Tamr007 (talk) 22:59, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- First, discuss the task force in the project talk to build consensus for it to exist and what it should focus on. If approved by the project, once the task force is set up, post a note and the template will be updated. I see you already created one, and I can tell you now that it will not be approved and such an action was inappropriate. We rarely do task forces for a single series, and The Shield is not one that would be granted such an exception. I've userfied the page you attempted to create, as you had no consensus to create it. You can find it at User:Tamr007/Shield-- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 23:03, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- I was just passing by the page and I read your comment. I just wanted to ask what made the Avatar task force special to where is could exist (seeing you said you rarely do task forces on specific series). I mean, I do not specifically support series-specific task forces, but I am just asking. — Parent5446 (t n e l) 02:35, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- It was originally created back in 2006 before the guidelines were tightened up more so it was grandfathered in (much like many of the other series task forces that don't have a large franchise around it). Avatar probably doesn't need one, and probably wouldn't pass for one today, though it does have a more extended franchise and larger set of articles. We tend not to delete any projects or task forces unless they are hoax or a violation of policies. :-P -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 02:41, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for clearing that up. — Parent5446 (t n e l) 14:06, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Reviewing Department
OK, there has to be at least ten links to a reviewing department. Could anybody explain what this might be referring to, considering the current link is dead? — Parent5446 (t n e l) 14:07, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- Where are you seeing those links? -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 16:13, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I removed some of them (since they were in descriptions of parameters that did not exist), but I believe there is still one in the description of the Peer review parameter. I am not sure whether such a department existed before or something like that... — Parent5446 (t n e l) 17:26, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Recommendation on Complete Redesign
I noticed that this Template does not function properly in terms of flagging Class, Priority, &c. as of 07:26, 12 July 2008 (UTC). The earlier Images should work nicely for a complete redesign based on Template:WPBannerMeta, a Template I used for a proposal to another WikiProject. The options of Full Assessment, Hotlisting articles needing attention, infoboxes, images, and so forth I will leave at the discretion of WPTelevision. B. C. Schmerker (talk) 07:26, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
{{editprotected}} Would it be possible for an admin to add parameters similar to the existing ones, so one can show an article is associated with The O.C. taskforce and its relative importance in that taskforce. Rambo's Revenge (talk) 23:29, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- I have now created the relevant categories and added an {{editprotected}} tag as I believe this is an uncontroversial proposal. Whilst the exact way the syntax works is beyond me, I believe it should just be possible to copy the another section, for example WikiProject Television/Law & Order task force, and replace "Law & Order" with "The O.C." where appropriate. Could the image be as above please, it is Image:Manhattan Beach Rosecrans IMG 1179 061211 165112.jpg at 40x40px. Many thanks Rambo's Revenge (talk) 21:05, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Done. You'll want to check the syntax, but everything should be in order. The parameter, as I indicated in the documentation, is "the-o.c." Best, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 19:06, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Something weird
Something in a recent edit to this template has messed up the appearance when nested within {{WikiProjectBannerShell}}. The rating gets pushed to a second line from the Project name; take a look at Talk:One Life to Live to see what I mean. — TAnthonyTalk 03:08, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- I changed the template to add the O.C. task force; it's possible that I messed something up, but I'm reasonably certain I didn't. Have you noticed this before today? I'll check the template to see if I did something wrong. UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 13:53, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- It's definitely occurred within the last couple of days ... I'm guessing it may be Television&diff=230381938&oldid=224909586 this edit from yesterday, right before yours. — TAnthonyTalk 16:27, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- It's still happening. No need to rush it, but it'd be best to figure out the solution. --haha169 (talk) 21:03, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

I believe Television&diff=230381938&oldid=224909586 this recent edit has disturbed the template's appearance when nested within {{WikiProjectBannerShell}}, as at Talk:One Life to Live. Can someone try reverting it? — TAnthonyTalk 19:35, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- I doubt it (although I'm always prepared to be proved wrong :D). For reference, the reason for that edit is that when the "warning banner is in wrong namespace" message is actually displayed, it causes the
{|
marker that opens the table to no longer be at the beginning of a line, invalidating the entire table code and causing a massive amount of wikicode to display on the page. I'll have a play around and look for the real source. Happy‑melon 19:51, 10 August 2008 (UTC) - It's Television&diff=next&oldid=230457451 this edit, although I'm not currently sure why. Happy‑melon 20:00, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Fixed by Television&diff=231080838&oldid=230458400 removing a linebreak. Happy‑melon 20:08, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the fix; I didn't know which edit had done it, but I didn't think the problem had started as early as the 7th. Thanks again! — TAnthonyTalk 23:04, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Just a note that when setting the class to C-Class whilst the text changes to "rated as C-Class on the quality scale" the image doesn't change from

Can someone please fix this please as the class is used by the WikiProject Assessment department. I can't as it is edit-protected. Thanks, Rambo's Revenge (talk) 19:22, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- That is, please replace the contents of {{Television/Class}} with {{WikiProject Television/Class/sandbox}}'s. This also simplifies the code a bit (And while you're at it, could {{Television/Class}} be moved to {{WikiProject Television/Class}}?) Thanks. —Ms2ger (talk) 09:02, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Convert?
Would there be any objection to converting this banner to use the WPBannerMeta? I would make sure that everything still works properly. Martin 12:59, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Prison Break Task Force
Hi there. I think I've managed to add the new Prison Break Task Force properly. I've made a copy of the current one with the new task force, and it is located here. Can someone verify that I didn't just break the template and then add it to the main page? Thanks :) NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 00:33, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- I think this will not work. Only five task forces are accepted by default. You could add it as TF3 to the taskforce hook though (after the Test Cards). Martin 12:56, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

B Checklist
I think it would be a really good improvement to the template if a B-Class checklist were added, similar to what is found in some other templates like {{Film}} and {{WikiProject Anime and manga}}. The would allow for a quick, visual view of why an article is C or B class, and the template can be set to keep articles from being rated B if it doesn't have the checklist completed with everything checked (quickly reducing the number of false Bs). Thoughts? -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 03:48, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- This seems like a good idea. It should help editors making assessments or just looking for ways to improve an article. I'd like to help more with assessments, as I've already done a couple hundred stub and start class articles, but I still feel too ignorant to assess the higher classes. That said, the checklist would be quite useful. On a related note, perhaps the grading scheme could be personalized for this project in the same way the above mentioned projects have done. Particularly in having the example articles actually representing this project. Sarilox (talk) 23:55, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
TalkWarning
{{editprotected}}
Please add {{TVSeriesTalk}} as an option to this template.
I suggest "|warning=yes" It works kinda like {{blp}}
70.29.210.174 (talk) 09:54, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- Why? It should not be added automatically, nor do I see any reason to add it to the project banner. If someone feels it needs that warning over the usual talk header, it is not that hard to add. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 13:57, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- Where in my request would it add it "automatically" ? It would require a parameter actuated to activate it. Why do we have picture request templates that show up when the "|needs-photo=yes" parameter is engaged? Why shouldn't that be added separately? {{blp}} doesn't occur on every WPBIO tagged article, only those that engage the "|living=yes" parameter, so it isn't "automatic" either. 70.29.212.226 (talk) 04:22, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
- Disagree with this request. I see no need at all to make this part of the television template as an option. It isn't needed for the bulk of articles, where as biographies has a large usage on living, and photo is a common request. This is far to rarely needed to bother with. Also, removing the template again because just saying "please add" is really useless as you can't just shove it in. Someone has to create the code first. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 04:33, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

I've updated the taskforce setting in the sandbox so that the Amazing Race task force, Desperate Housewives task force, Law & Order task force and Test Cards task force use the standard quality scale rather than the extended one since those categories do not exist for those task forces, so could the sandbox version be copied over. Book-class support
{{editprotected}}
Several books are tagged by this project's banner. Simply replace |QUALITY_SCALE=standard
with |QUALITY_SCALE=subpage
and magic will happen. I've already set-up the relevant categories, so no need to worry about that. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 13:59, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- Have you discussed this with the WikiProject? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:02, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- No, but there's no need to. This has been implemented on more than 150 projects now, sometimes it was discussed and no one ever raised a hint of objection (the discussion can be active for months without getting any replies), sometimes it wasn't discussed (and no one ever reverted it, or was puzzled by the addition of the book-class). The page is protected to prevent vandalism, not prevent expansions. If the project objects (although one would wonder why they'd object), they can get it reverted. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 19:48, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- I believe the project should be consulted, or at least given a chance to respond. Their quality classification system is of their choosing. There is no problem is this class is not used anyway, by default books will be NA-class which is entirely appropriate. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:24, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

I recently found this template and although my first impulse was to submit it to TFD for it to be merged with {{WikiProject Television}} I thought I would post something here first and all for the good folks of this project to comment first. Does anyone think that there is a need to have this seperate banner? --Kumioko (talk) 05:00, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- It seems to serve a different purpose to this template as it is a talk message box rather than a WikiProject banner. This banner does not contain the wording that RVSeriesTalk conveys; also there are probably many pages which contain both templates. Therefore merging is probably not going to work. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:11, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

I would like to add the WikiProject Television's episode coverage task force to the WikiProject Television talk page template. My hope is that this will allow the episode task force to have an assessment of the quality of articles in its scope, and thus lead us to improve those articles. - That will do for starters. I've added the first five lines as I wasn't sure if you wanted separate assessment and importance ratings? If so, will need the TF_1_ASSESSMENT_CAT parameter as well. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 23:05, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
- Looking at the source text for the template and what is in there for others, it appears that something like "Television episode articles" would work for TF_1_ASSESSMENT_CAT. But do I have to do something else to generate an assessment table for the task force when that is done? — Hunter Kahn 23:10, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Adult Swim task force
{{edit protected}}
Please add the Adult Swim task force on the banner from the sandbox, so we can get rid of {{WikiProject Cartoon Network}} banner, since I have converted into task force of WP:TV since WikiProject Cartoon Network went inactive back in 2010. JJ98 (Talk) 02:14, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

Some changes where made, including the Prison Break task force which I've added though the banner in the sandbox, which was previously a WikiProject and converted into a task force of WP:TV back in 2008, due to the that shows should no longer have their own WikiProjects. In addition, I've fixed some of the coding for the Broadcast engineering and technology task force and changed from WikiProject Avatar: The Last Airbender articles and The Amazing Race work group articles to Avatar: The Last Airbender task force articles and The Amazing Race task force articles, and replaced the image for Veronica Mars task force. It is request if could please make changes that I've made from the sandbox myself. Thanks. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 06:05, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

- Done. @George Ho: There were some other experiments in there. It's best to clean-slate a sandbox and use the current live template code before adding requested features. Anyway, I reverted someone else's change that was deleting an image, and merged others' draft changes that were adding "see the docs for how the template works" instructions, in two different places (and removed the misleading claim in that material that template docs are "guidelines"). Hi! I noticed two problems with the prose in this template, and I would greatly appreciate if someone who 1) has template editor privileges and 2) is familiar with the source code of this template (I fail both criteria) could fix those problems. Below, I will list what problems I have noticed, so that hopefully someone can help fix them.
Upon placing this template in an article, the following text appears at the top of the template:
This article is within the scope of WikiProject Television, a collaborate effort to develop and improve Wikipedia articles about television programs. If would like to participate, please visit the project page where you can join the discussion. To improve this article, please refer to the style guidelines for the type of work.
The changes that I would like to make (with the removals bolded and the additions underlined) are listed below:
- Copyedit 1: "a collaborate effort" should be changed to "a collaborative effort".
- Copyedit 2: "If would like to participate" should be changed to "If you would like to participate".
Thus, the final output text would look like this:

Hi, I've recently been trying to tie up all loose ends in Project Holby's move from WikiProject to a task force of WikiProject Television. I have added Holby to the template sandbox and would like it to be added to the actual template as part of this transistion. - Soaper1234 - No, the sandbox diff shows that the sandbox and the live template differ by more than just your change, not that you made all the changes. That said, I was trying to show you the need to check the sandbox is an up-to-date mirror of the live template before you start work on it.

Proposal to remove attention parameter
I'm proposing the removal of the |attention=
parameter from this template. When set, the article gets placed in Category:Television articles needing attention but here it ends. There is absolutely nothing here that says what exactly does this article need and the scope of the category is just too general. In addition we have Category:Television articles needing expert attention which is also too too general in scope in my opinion, but at least the template it works from Template:Expert needed has a |reason=
field. Instead we have better specific categories already in place:
- Category:Television articles that need a character section
- Category:Television articles that need a production section
- Category:Television articles that need a response section
- Category:Television articles that need a synopsis
- Category:Television articles that need an episode list
- Category:Television articles without infoboxes
- Category:Television articles needing references
If none of this fit, and we really need something (though, at this point it seems that "Attention" just means "Help me make this article better" which is really not a place of a tag), then Template:Expert needed should be enough. --Gonnym (talk) 13:20, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

BrownHairedGirl, I see what you were trying to do, and it would have worked except that I only added a handful of categories; there were about a dozen more that weren't added. Granted, it would solve the issue of the "renamed cats" like those listed above (e.g. Category:B-Class Television episode articles) but the newer ones will still be out of whack. Primefac (talk) 14:52, 4 March 2020 (UTC
- Thanks, Primefac. I was trying to restore the status quo ante bellum by reverting to before Gonnym's changes, but only realised afterwards that I had misunderstood the situation, and that there was no previous version which resolved all the problems. Se we just gotta cope with Special:WantedCategories being all cluttered up until WP:Categories for discussion/Log/2020 February 29#Television_task_forces is finally closed.
- Meanwhile, my much-used query at https://quarry.wmflabs.org/query/30916 is almost useless, since it is filled with >40,000 TV assessment categories. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs)

Do we have a timeline on getting rid of the many red-linked television categories still listed at Special:WantedCategories generated by the ongoing reorganization? This week? Mid-March? Early April? I'm not familiar enough with what still needs to be done to even try to touch it without guidance, but if there are simple taks, let me know and I'll chip in. To those who have been doing this work for the past few weeks, thank you. By the way, it looks like the CFD will drag on, I recommend modifying the templates to use the old category names for now then move them after the CFD is over. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:25, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
- They are currently being worked on, but the servers take time to clear out the cache. For example, NA-importance Episode coverage articles (8,573 → 7,352 members) indicates that about 1k of the 8k pages in the cat have been cleared out. The only cats that aren't currently being cleared out are the ones that don't have that "countdown"; I was mostly waiting for the rest to clear out to see what more needs doing. Primefac (talk) 19:28, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
