Welcome to WikiProject Linux. The aim of this project is to get as many users as possible, so join if you are interested in Linux. Advocate to fellow Linux contributors and get them on board. If you know someone who contributes here and uses Linux make sure they are aware of this project. Please help out by indexing all the Linux articles you know of on Wikipedia:WikiProject Linux/index.

Promote the project

Join this project! Add yourself to the list, and add the userbox to your page, to advertise the project to people who happen to pass by.
Invite people to the project – drop a note on the user talk page of editors working on Linux topics who aren't project members.
Consider promoting the project via the Wikipedia Signpost WikiProject desk.

Improve the project

Update the project pages, archive clutter, and make use of the latest automation available
Consult the WikiProject Guide for ideas
Come up with new ones

Use the project

Monitor discussions on talk pages of articles covered by the project. Recent changes to the project's talk pages
Create a new article.

Expand some of the articles (check out Category:Linux stubs or some of its subcategories), always respecting Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View Policy. Also, check the Wikipedia: Manual of Style.
Add references to articles which need referencing improving. Biographies of living persons are a particular priority.
Assess some of the Unassessed Linux articles, using the criteria at Wikipedia:WikiProject Linux/Assessment. Update the project banner on the relevant talk page.

Check the talk page for requests for help.

Goals

To improve the quality and expand the range of Linux-related articles on Wikipedia.
To improve articles such that they would serve as useful to beginners and experts alike, by providing both simple and more technical descriptions.
To spread awareness of Linux, in a respectful and realistic manner, to other Wikipedians.

State of affairs

For now, we need to collaborate on getting the WikiProject organized and get a healthy set of articles/lists marked up with the Wikiproject template. In the future we plan to use this space to advertise a specific article that we want to get to see reach good article status.
