"Sun City" is a song by American rapper Shuttle. It serves as the second song from his second studio album Arizona. The song features vocals from American rappers Lil Bro and Lil Puff. It also features production from Oreo Mike Dean and Moon
Background
editThe Arizona Documentary documented the creation of "Sun City". "Sun City" was originally a different song, until early 2019, where the song was scrapped and replaced by the version today.
Oreo produced the first beat. "I need like, the most grimy beat possible. Like some dark, early trap shit. Like some DBR shit." Shuttle told him on FaceTime. The first beat uses a Roland TR-808 machine.
The second beat was made by Moon, in a studio session with the rest of Lil Squad along with Mike Dean at Shuttle's house. Lil Bro and Shuttle recorded their verses first. Originally Bro had a line after "Ball so much, I don't even have to practice." where he says "They show like half the passion". He also sang half of Shuttle's verse, altered to a degree. Lil Puff arrived at the studio and recored his verse last. On the original version of the song, Lil Puff has added lines in between Bro's on the chorus.
A few days later the outro was added to the song. It includes a random clip of Shuttle and a video clip of American rapper Young Thug.
Music video
editThe music video was released on July 26, 2019 exclusively on Apple Music. It was directed by BRTHR, who also directed a similar music video for The Weeknd's "Party Monster".
Chart performance
edit"Fountain Hills" debuted at number 92 on the US Billboard Hot 100 for the week of July 27, 2019. In September 2019, the song was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over 500,000 equivalent-units in the United States. On November 15, 2019, Shuttle announced that the song has been certified Platinum.
Live performances
editOn September 21, 2019, Travis Scott performed "Goosebumps" on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
