edit

Zangpo's family was noted to be very poor.[1] His brother, Sandip Tamang, a driver, was said to be the main earner in the family.[1] Zangpo's father, also a driver, died in 2009 and his mother, a housewife, also died the next year.[1] Zangpo also has 3 other siblings, a brother, Kumar Daju and sisters Sonam and Sophia.[1]

Zangpo has stated that his favorite footballer to watch is Brazilian footballer Neymar who is apparently the hero for many of the school children in his village.[1]
