Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!

November Esperanza Newsletter

Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.
Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.

In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Refactoring ≠ good

Hi Booksworm. I see that you refactored the debate about the child wikipedians category. The afd page (which, by extension, refers to ucfds also) plainly states this is a bad idea, because xfds are discussions, not votes, and categorizing comments by opinion turns it into a vote (not to mention making discussion very hard to follow.) I would like to know how it was vandalism to The Beautiful Mistake site. There was a completely biased paragraph in there saying they were on a hiatus and there was a paragraph saying they broke up. I just combined the two. That whole article was a cut and paste job until a fan came in and added that they were only on a hiatus. There wasn't any proof of the claim and I know this, but I thought it would be better to make one paragraph instead of two of them, especially when one paragraph was just a fan typing in random things. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.177.178.215 (talk • contribs) 12:53, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

I do beg your pardon for the slight misunderstanding about 72.177.178.215's edits on the page The Beautiful Mistake. Slight vocabulary misunderstanding (on my part), however the term is slightly too ambiguous. Using a more clear context or better term would have been more appropriate on 72.177.178.215's part. However, your removal of the Virgin Glactic link on Space Tourism was not justifiable and could explain your reasoning, and I will remove the message I placed on your talk page.This has been understood, and removed message. Replaced link with a link for the real Virgin Galactic BookswormTalk to me!15:23, 27 November 2006 (UTC). However, please leave a message on my talk page, link below; thanks in advance.
I hope we can be on better terms in the future and I hope to work with collaborativley on the Wiki and to defend it.

That's fine, thank you for understanding. I don't see there being any problems between us, and thanks for being on RC patrol. I just felt it was rather harsh at the time to give the user in question an instant {{test3}} (a strongly-worded, almost threatening warning template) for at most slightly objectionable wording. I think that's why it's best to use gentler warnings at first unless it's obvious vandalism that's going on – WP:AGF, after all. It's not very difficult to run off would-be good editors because of excessive responses to simple mistakes, and I don't see the editor in question as having done anything wrong, and even improved the articles he or she edited.
Anyway, it's okay to make a mistake now and then, as I certainly have many, many times, but please just try to double-check now and again, as you did revert me three times yesterday seemingly after I removed one link from an article that happened to be spam (and which I didn't detail appropriately in my edit summary, to be fair). Removal isn't automatically vandalism, and don't let one edit by a user lead you to conclude all of his or her edits are undesirable.
Thank you for being a nice and humble guy, and good luck on patrol. I'm sure a couple of accidental edits won't mar your good record. Leave me a message sometime if you need support on RC patrol and I'll try to back you up if I'm online. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 18:05, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
