Tommaso Antici (* May 10, 1731 in Recanati, Italy; † January 4, 1812 ibid) was an Italian diplomat and a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He was the son of Giuseppe Rinaldo Marchese Antici di Recanati and Antonia Cipriani, a well-known noble family whose earliest origins can be traced back to the 12th century. Antici studied law and theology in Rome where he was conferred the tonsure. He became the secretary of Cardinal Ferdinando Maria de Rossi where he became acquainted with clerical affairs. From 1763 to 1798, he worked in different positions as a diplomat in Rome. He was considered a very talented conciliator who would always manage to defend the interests of his respective clients.[1]
