Carrier pigeon-implemented TCP/IP, commonly called CP/TCP/IP, was originally devised a a communications system that would be immune to electromagnetic interference, either accidental or intentional (i.e. sabotage). Although initially hailed as an environmentally friendly and fully recyclable (albeit somewhat slow) system, it has been attacked by inner city residents, who object to the highly corrosive effects that pigeon droppings are said to exert on building exteriors.
Environmental controversy
editIn the absence of local authority initiatives, inner city residents have on occasion organized "Scrub-it-Clean" operations, using recycled toilet paper to clean badly soiled buildings. On two occasions there have been demonstrations in Southeastern Europe, with protesters angrily brandishing toilet paper holders and calling on local authorities to take action and implement Smoke signal-based systems instead. Critics say that the latter are fraught with graver pollution hazards, including particulate matter pollution, ozone layer depletion, global warming and local warming (i.e. fire). Some have claimed that the "smoke screeners" (as they are derogatorily called) are paid oil industry shills, an accusation indignantly denied as "patently false and slanderous" by both Scrub-it-Clean activists and the oil industry.
