User:Chzz/afc unreferenced log

Concept

edit

Adding help on referencing to users who submitted an AFC with no "<ref". If they have no talk page, also 'welcome' them.

Test run;6th -> ongoing

Issues, bugs and improvements

edit
  • 'Welcome' is not appropriate for anons   Done - changed to use Template:Welcome anon2
  • Add an {{Afc comment}} on the AFC, to say they've had this   Done
  • Logging - part done; as in...see this page. More / clearer logs & counts will be nice when auto
  • Make the "welcome" less overwhelming, so the refs message is clearer. Maybe collapse, Welcome! "Here are some tips [show]" Kinda thing. Per Sage Ross.
Work in progress; see User:Chzz/afc unreferenced with username and User:Chzz/afc unreferenced ip
Note - those might need splitting into 4, or have code added - if the user or IP *already* has a user page, then a welcome is not appropriate
Done following discussions; User:ChzzBot IV/Welcome anon and User:ChzzBot IV/Welcome user
  • DABS - maybe: if EITHER the AFC contains {{Disambig}} (case-insensitive), OR the page is < 500 characters (say)?, skip it. re. France3470 (talk · contribs) / exempting pages with a {{dab}} or {{disambig}} template might it also be possible to exclude pages with 'disambiguation' in the title   Done
  • 'citation needed' blue box could maybe do with some layout tweaking. I like the 'citation needed' being within the brackets, but I think the clarity would be improved by keeping the bracket/logo on the left and then placing the "Hi User!..." text directly beneath the logo rather than to the side. Right now a new user could possibly miss the greeting and AfC link.Shearonink (talk) 16:24, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
  • I think the Welcome for named users could be pared down to maybe just a few choices from the 'Getting started' section. From the bot-reviews I've done it doesn't appear that the majority of AfC submitters are reading the material at the links...perhaps the Welcome could even be divided in two parts? First Welcome would have *just* the getting started section with a few choices, maybe WP:REFB, the Tutorial & the FAQ link (or whatever). Then a week later there could be an automatic Follow-up Welcome with a bigger menu of goodies including the rest of the "Getting started" section plus the other three sections - "Policies and guidelines", "The community" and "writing articles". Shearonink (talk) 16:24, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
Sort-of-done, I think, through the above changes to the messages given? See User talk:ChzzBot IV
  • Skip 'blank' submissions?

AFC reviewer declined 7 May 2011 "WP is not an obituary" Shearonink (talk) 21:10, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
AFC reviewer declined on 7 May 2011 "not clear person meets notability requirements for academics". (Shared IP registered to Johnson & Johnson.) Shearonink (talk) 21:21, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
AfC Reviewer declined on 7 May "suggestion doesn't sufficiently explain the importance or significance of the subject", "non-notable person". Shearonink (talk) 21:27, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
AfC Reviewer declined on April 15(?), subsequent edits 28 April through 8 May) from creator & various IP-editors have added inline citations but something about the forms(MoS) these various editors are using on this AfC are incorrect. Inline numbering appears but it looks like the editors have also placed (mangled)/duplicate references in the References section. Shearonink (talk) 21:59, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
An AFC reviewer added refs, and accepted it, as Gordon Hill (singer) May 7
BLP concerns; unverifiable claims; declined and blanked. Revdel'd (I requested), and cautioned user for unref'd controv BLP. Also noted live article Holly grieg had been made by Soursourapples (talk · contribs) and deleted twice. Emailed oversight. 7 May.
AfC reviewer declined on May 6th "article already exists in main space", also commented "Comment: Article in mainspace is up for proposed deletion.", concurrent article was apparently deleted(?). Creator User:Basler Deklaration has not edited article since creation on 29 April. Previously mangled inline citations were improved/altered by the AfC Reviewer User:Tom Morris. Note: Similarly-named editor, User talk:Basel Declaration, has had their username blocked. Shearonink (talk) 03:23, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
Got the creator wrong, but that's because this AfC, its edit history & creator have gotten completely mangled. The creator is not Jojhutton, but actually User: Narayanasharma, see Contributions. Jojhutton placed a Welcome on User talk:Narayanasharma, the entire user talk page was then incorrectly moved by that user to AfC. Note: This latest AfC is apparently a recreation by User:Narayanasharma of an identical failed AfC Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/SOUTH ASIAN SOCIETY FOR ATHEROSCLEROSIS AND THROMBOSIS (SASAT) that was created and declined on 27 March. This user also created a related article Gundu Hirisave Rama Rao. Shearonink (talk) 04:06, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
AfC reviewer declined on May 9th stating "This article provides insufficient context for those unfamiliar with the subject matter". Creator has not touched article since initial creation/submission. April 29 Comment from Armbrust about inline citations. Shearonink (talk) 04:21, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
AfC Reviewer declined on May 10th stating "article reads more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia". Inline citation notice left on April 30, no edits from creator since article was initially written on April 30. Shearonink (talk) 13:10, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
AfC Reviewer declined on May 7 "I am declining this submission at present because it lacks several things, namely relevant in-line citations", 'citation needed' notice left on May 6th. Creator added some references on May 13th, but they are all malformed according to MoS and are not inline cites. Shearonink (talk) 13:22, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
AfC Reviewer declined submission on May 10 "subject appears to be a non-notable musical performer or work", creator has not edited since initial contribution, references are malformed. Comment left at AfC on April 30 re: Inline citations & WP:REFB, notice left at Creator's talk on May 6. Shearonink (talk) 13:28, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
Declined as article exists; Ablaugrund (talk · contribs) had made same article live article Harriet Hubbard Ayer on Feb 27; AFC was on 1 May. (I welcomed the new user, and added ref help)
Declined by AfC Reviewer on May 14th (comment re: "inline citations needed" & WP:REFB left on May 4th), citation needed/bluebox left on May 6th, creator has not edited since initial submission. Shearonink (talk) 20:52, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Declined by AfC Reviewer on May 10th as not "written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article", creator has not edited article since creation, 'citation needed' blue box left on May 6th. The username should probably be investigated as "Nissimo" is the same name as a software developer, see "Super Fruit Fall" edit. Shearonink (talk) 21:09, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Declined by AfC Reviewer on May 14th. May 4th reviewer left comment re:inline citations & {{WP:REFB]]. "citation needed" box left on May 6th, creator has not edited on WP since creating article.Shearonink (talk) 21:14, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Article declined by Reviewer on May 8th "reads like an advert", citation needed left by bot on May 6th, inline cites comment left by user on May 4th, no editing done on article by creator since submission. References are still malformed. Shearonink (talk) 20:20, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
(User also made Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Berlin Fair which was declined GNG; other is still awaiting review 13:23, 7 May 2011 (UTC))
