User:David Kernow/List of terms for administrative country subdivisions
The list below is of terms for contemporary administrative country subdivisions. It is alphabetical by term in English (the headings) then by term as translated, transliterated or used as equivalent in any language.
Notes
- Terms in italics are terms in languages other than English.
- Where more than one country uses the same term, they are listed alphabetically by name in English.
- The terms listed are meant to be in singular form, but are noted or queried as plural where this is known or thought to be the case.
- A term in brackets indicates either that its use is informal or is yet to be confirmed.
- Terms that are also used in other contexts, such as "city", "constituency", "region", "republic" etc, are only included here if they are used to identify administrative divisions by the country or countries listed.
