Head West
I see you deleted the Head West album article because the artist has no article. Bob Welch has an article and this album has been effectively packaged as a Bob Welch solo album for nearly 40 years. Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:02, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't realize the connection. I have now restored the article. Thanks for letting me know. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:04, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, I'll make it a bit clearer in the article. Cheers, Bretonbanquet (talk) 13:12, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
Deletion of Sid Tarrabain
Hello,
I do not understand why you deleted my page, I am new to Wikipedia and am just learning how to use. After I received your message I began adding to my page, it is for my late uncle who was a prominent lawyer in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. It was his request I make him a wikipedia page. It would be much appreciated if you would re-add my page back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lawprofqc (talk • contribs) 23:19, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
- I deleted the article titled Sid Tarrabain, Q.C. because it had no meaningful content - it merely contained a link to a website. As such, it was clearly not a useful encyclopedia article and met Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion (see WP:CSD#A3). -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:00, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
User:Exidor
Just a thought, your edit to Exidor's page is understandable, except it leaves the page showing a block warning at 2213 followed by an indef block only 11 minutes later at 2224. With the reason for blocking removed it erroneously creates the impression you were trigger happy. Moriori (talk) 00:12, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- It's not unusual for users to be blocked within 11 minutes of a warning - people behaving badly enough to be warned can get in a lot of additional inappropriate edits in 11 minutes. If anyone is curious about which of Exidor's edits following the warning led to his block, they can just look at his contributions. Or they can ask User:Either way, who blocked him. (I didn't block him myself, just removed talk page access.) -- Ed (Edgar181) 00:24, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Sid Tarrabain Q.C.
Hello, I understand my page was merely a link to a website when you first viewed it. However, after I gathered my information I began writing my in-depth article. However you did not allow for enough time for me to compile all my information. I would appreciate if you could re-add my article again. Or if you can inform me as to how to re-add my information again.
- I don't understand what you would like me to do. You have already been working on the article at Sid Tarrabain. -- Ed (Edgar181) 10:50, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
IP address block evasion?
It would appear that the IP you recently blocked, User talk:109.76.191.188, is circumventing their block by using other IP's, which according to Geolocate all derive from the exact same place. The editing style is also the same with gaps either side each punctuation. All these edits are after they were blocked.
IP's include:
217.44.192.197 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:35, 5 September 2011 (UTC).
- It looks like both those IPs have been inactive for a couple of hours now, so there doesn't seem to be anything that needs to be done at this point. Thanks for letting me know though. -- Ed (Edgar181) 19:10, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Sid Tarrabain
Hello Ed,
I don't understand why my article is still stating that it is up for deletion. As you can see I have added new information to the article so it is no longer a link to a website. Could you please guide me as to what I should be doing to get rid of the deletion message.
Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lawprofqc (talk • contribs) 03:35, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- The note at the top of the page is a proposed deletion tag which can be removed at any time if anyone objects to deletion, so I have now removed it. However, based on the article content, it does not appear to me that the subject of the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. This criteria is explained at Wikipedia:Notability (people). You will need to add information to the article that demonstrates how the subject meets this criteria, otherwise it is likely that someone will nominate it for deletion again. -- Ed (Edgar181) 11:08, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- It looks like it has now been nominated for deletion again. (This one can't simply be removed like the last one.) Please feel free to contribute to the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sid Tarrabain. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:33, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi Ed,
I've noticed that the Plasticity/Adult stem cell pluripotency section of the article on adult stem cells ends with VSEL however before Kucia et al discovered these cells, a professor by the name of Henry Young had already discovered them including another type of more naive stem cells called BLSCs. I wanted to add this paragraph to the section, just after the VSEL info, but don't know how to? Here is the text:
Another discovery by Young et al has identified a similar small pluripotent, or even totipotent stem cell residing in most mammalian tissues. These cells termed Blastomere Like Stem Cells (BLSCs) have shown pluripotent potential by way of expressing cell surface markers such as CEACAM, CD66e, SSEA -1, SSEA-3, SSEA-4 and transcription factors Oct 3/4, Nanog and Nanos. This stem cell displays a phenotypic characteristic of being extremely small at less that 2 to 3 microns in size and has a normal karyotype. Additionally culture of these cells has shown at least 66 specialist precursor cell development as well as potential gamete formation.
You can find proof and reference of this on these journals Adult-derived stem cells and their potential for use in tissue repair and molecular medicine., Karyotypic analysis of adult pluripotent stem cells. and Differential potential of adult stem cells.
Can you help me add this section to the adult stem cell page please? 14:27, 6 September 2011 (UTC)Tayamoz

Please can you check something?
Hi Edgar. Made a page for this new compound 4-methylpregabalin, which is notable mainly for the unexpectedly difficult and hugely expensive research that was required, to finally produce after many years of effort a marginally improved version of pregabalin, with only 2 years left before the pregabalin patent expires. Anyway only one isomer is active, the (3R,4R) isomer and I got slightly confused drawing it (always found that R/S naming difficult when the stereocentres are right next to each other). Please could you quickly check to make sure its correct? To be safe I uploaded a new version to Commons which I just drew in the exact same conformation the authors used, as I assume they will know the correct one. But I prefer to draw it slightly differently from the literature reference where possible just so there can be no accusations of copyright infringement... Also the replacement version I put up doesn't seem to be displaying yet, but I think I just have to wait for the Commons server to refresh or something. Cheers Meodipt (talk) 00:09, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
- The local copy of File:4-methylpregabalin.png here on Wikipedia and the one on Commons, file:4-methylpregabalin structure.png were identical, so I deleted the local copy as a duplicate to avoid any confusion. The file on Commons looks like it is currently correctly displaying the most recently uploaded version. (You are right that sometimes the it takes awhile for a new thumbnail to be displayed when you upload a new version of a file - it seems to have successfully updated by now.) The most recent version of File:4-methylpregabalin structure.png depicts the (3R,4R) stereoisomer. At the PubChem link in the article (CID 10197908 from PubChem), the compound is named as (3R,4R) and the SMILES corresponds to (3R,4R), but the image shown doesn't match - it is (3S,4R). So it looks to me like everything on Wikipedia is correct, but there is an error on PubChem. -- Ed (Edgar181) 13:15, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
- Ok cool, well so long as everything on our side is correct, can't help if PubChem has errors on there. Thanks for helping :-) Meodipt (talk) 07:00, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Redaction
Hi, I've skimmed WP:CRD and WP:REVDEL, but there doesn't seem to be any centralized place to nominate items for redaction. (If that's indeed the case, how/where could one be proposed?) In any case, I noticed you recently redacted a Blue Monday edit, so please consider redacting this article edit. Thanks, Rostz (talk) 17:20, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
- I think having a centralized place would just call attention to edits that we don't want to call attention to, so that's why it doesn't exist. It's usually best to discretely contact an admin in this kind of situation and I don't mind at all being contacted. I have removed the edit you refer to from that article's history. Thanks, -- Ed (Edgar181) 17:38, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
Why was my inquiry deleted?
Greetings, I left messages on two pages: Pisanello 007.jpg; Francesco del Cossa003.jpg, and they were deleted. I would like to know why and how do I contact the authors of these .jpg files for permission to use them in a non-profit newsletter?
Sincerely, Pandora Penncraft Pandora Penncraft (talk) 19:00, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
- Those files are actually hosted on Wikimedia Commons rather than here on Wikipedia. All images hosted there are free-use, so you do not need to contact the individuals who uploaded them for permission to reuse them. -- Ed (Edgar181) 19:07, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Maggie's Hope
I created Maggie's Hope that was deleted by Wikipedia for a violation. I would like the opportunity to explain that Maggie's Hope is not a commercial business but a 501c3 non-profit that funds autism treatment for kids. As autism treatment evolves you will find that research being done at Maggie's Hope will greatly enhance your reader's knowledge on the subject. Wikipedia is a very inclusive site and I am requesting to be included as well.

- I deleted the article Maggie's hope because Wikipedia articles must be written from a neutral point of view, even if they are about non-profit organizations, and they must meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. The article was clearly promotional and written from the organization's point of view ("Our goal...", "Stay tuned for more information as we gather strength", etc.) If you wish to create in a neutral tone an encyclopedia article about Maggie's Hope, please read Wikipedia's guidelines for notability first, to see if it qualifies, or the article may end up just being deleted again. I suggest that you take a look at Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines as well, which seem to apply here. -- Ed (Edgar181) 14:29, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Style Guide and Safety
Hi Edgar,
Thank you for the comment. I am pleased to meet you.
Would you please clarify the amount of tolerable inline links that can be included in an article? There seem to be no guidelines.
The style guide works great for intellectual topics. It reads very much like style guides used by universities for masters and PhD level dissertation work. I can see how that will work well in areas covering intellectual content, like theory and practice where traceability to credible sources is a paramount concern.
Most people that work with chemicals do not have a college education. The style guide format is intimidating and confusing in that venue. The method described in the style guide tends to interfere with discussing basic safety, health, supervision, and regulatory requirements.
A very disturbing feeling overwhelmed me when I looked up cyanide in Wikipedia several years ago and failed to see any regulatory, health, and safety information. Basic safety is the first things I learned about chemistry (cyanide, ammonia, fuming nitric, hydrofluoric acid, lye, ... and butyric acid).
Wikipedia appears to be silent about basic health, safety, and regulations. That guarantees injury. Using the style guide for discussions about safety/supervision might not reduce that risk.
I value your opinion. Best regards.Nanoatzin (talk) 07:12, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- First of all, I would like to say that I was quite disappointed to see that you removed the cleanup tag with the edit summary "Remove graffiti posted by Edgar181". These types of tags are an essential part of Wikipedia's editing process, and I placed it there coupled with a clearly defined explanation based on Wikipedia policy. Referring to my good-faith actions as "graffiti" is clearly inappropriate. It might be expected for someone new to Wikipedia to not understand this, but someone who has been around here editing for a while should really know better. As for your concerns about content related to the safety of chemical compounds, I would suggest that you have a look at the current consensus related to this topic which is summarized at Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Chemistry#Safety and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Chemistry/Safety. If you feel that there should be some modification to those policies, it would probably be a good idea to raise those concerns at either Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chemistry or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chemicals. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:52, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

CX717
Hi Edgar. I noticed you added a CAS number to the page for CX717. Do you know if the structure of this compound has been revealed yet, or did Cortex manage to get a CAS number issued without disclosing the structure? I've seen CAS entries for compounds with no references supplied, but never one with no structure! They have done well keeping it secret for so long, if the late-1990s discovery date is accurate then there is only a few years left until the patent expires... Meodipt (talk) 02:11, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
- There is no chemical structure associated with this CAS number. It's unusual, but I've seen it before a few times. Considering that chemical structure needs to be included in various FDA filings, and if it's been that long since the discovery phase, it's quite likely that the development and clinical trials have been canceled. This is what the CAS entry looks like:
Registry Number: 867276-98-0 No Structure Diagram Available Formula: Unspecified CA Index Name: CX 717 (pharmaceutical) Other Names: CX 717 Class Identifier: Manual Registration Editor Note(s): An ampakine (Cortex Pharmaceuticals)
- Interesting. Yeah it was dropped from clinical trials for Alzheimer's and ADHD in the USA after Phase I, the FDA refused approval for Phase II trials. But they recently had favourable results for CX717 in human trials for reversing opioid-induced respiratory depression - these were carried out in Germany from the look of things, maybe the regulatory environment is easier there. Just seems surprising they have managed to keep the structure confidential the whole way into human trials, and I wondered if the recent publications in Bioorg Med Chem Letters concerning SAR development from CX614, might include the structure of CX717... Meodipt (talk) 02:23, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- That is surprising that they have gotten that far without divulging the chemical structure. I would bet, though, that you could make a good guess about the structure if you looked closely at their patents. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:35, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Semi-protect request
Hi again. I'm dropping a note to ask if you would consider a semi-protect lock on the article for the new Disney Channel series, Jessie. The show premiered this last weekend, and, as is typical with new Disney and Nickelodeon shows, its page is receiving a lot of mischievous and vandalistic edits. The page was locked for one day this weekend, but the editor who locked it didn't want to take on the decision to lock the page for a more extended period of time (discussion on the subject can be viewed on the article's talk page), so I said I'd contact you if the edits persisted. I was hoping you might take a look at the edit history and consider locking for 3 months, but I would even be happy to settle for 1 month - whatever you think is best. Thanks --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 00:18, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Just updating - The other editor has just decided the page does need another lock-down (this time for three days). It's still my guess from previous experience that the page is going to need more than the three days she's willing to protect it for, so I have a feeling I might be back here this weekend to ask you to put a longer lock on the page, but the request is on hold for now. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 10:46, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- I've put the article on my watchlist. If the problem persists after the 3 day protection expires, I will protect it for longer. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:47, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. Yeah, she seems a little squeamish about a longer-term protect lock, but from my past experience with Disney/Nickelodeon articles, I'm pretty sure the page is going to need at least a month (although three months sounds even better). If/when it is locked, I can try and see what I can do about expanding the article, but it's hard to do when all my time/effort is spent constantly reverting. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 22:56, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you, but it looks like the Jessie page is attracting a lot of attention again. It's gotten over 20 edits since the lock expired (less than one day ago), almost all of which have been reverted (except for one typo fix by a verified editor). Granted, it's not as much as I'd expected and it's mostly been good faith edits from youngsters reverted for grammar reasons, or non-encylopedic "fancruft" tidbits, but it goes back to my point I'd made on the talk page - Disney/Nick pages attract a lot of mischievous youngsters, and even the IP edits that are in good faith are not constructive to the article 99% of the time, so I don't believe a one or two month semi-protect lock hurts the page all that much in the cases of new children's shows. If anything, I believe it usually helps the page because it frees up the time of verified users to do a little sourcing and improving of the page instead of spending our time reverting it. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 02:10, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- OK, I've protected the page for a month. Hopefully this will give you and others a chance to continue to improve the article without being side-tracked by continually reverting vandalism. -- Ed (Edgar181) 11:54, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. Sorry to bother you about it, but it's a tough problem to explain over at WP:RPP since much of it isn't what I would technically call "vandalism" in the traditional sense, but more like excitable 10-year-olds with vivid imaginations, endlessly adding every minute detail about the new "tween idol" on a show, or writing an elaborate fantasy about what they think might happen with the storyline of a show down the line based on something they've seen in a 30-second preview, etc, etc.. It's not the type of problem that happens on most pages, so it's difficult to explain to most adult Wikipedia editors, unless they're already familiar with this specific Disney Channel area of Wikipedia. There's already one new star on the show named Cameron Boyce who looks like he's turning into the next tween "flavor-of-the-month". I've been able to keep his page under control so far, but I would appreciate it if you could add him to your watch list. I have a feeling his page might need to be protected down the line (again, it's not technically "vandalism" the way Wikipedia traditionally defines it, but more like 10-year-old girls naming themselves as his new "girlfriend", or declaring their love for him, etc). --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 17:43, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- I understand, and I am happy to help out. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:02, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- OK, I've protected the page for a month. Hopefully this will give you and others a chance to continue to improve the article without being side-tracked by continually reverting vandalism. -- Ed (Edgar181) 11:54, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- I've put the article on my watchlist. If the problem persists after the 3 day protection expires, I will protect it for longer. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:47, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

- No, I don't think there is a standard message or template. I would have used a similar edit summary as you, and if you want to leave a message on the user's talk page, a brief personal note is the way to go. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:11, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Re: Dispute Resolution advice
Hi, I m not sure what do you mean by Dispute Resolution here. Those 2 users are just ignoring the Wiki rules and impose their own. They pretend they dont know the difference between primary and secondary sources and claim that the references for the contributions, they dont like personally, are all "non-reputable" (primary) sources.

- Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism is for reporting editors who are vandalizing Wikipedia (intentionally damaging Wikipedia). The two editors that you have reported there are not vandalizing (see Wikipedia:Vandalism for more details). You are in a disagreement with these other editors about the content of an article. You should discuss your differences with them rather than repeatedly edit warring with them. If you persist, you and/or the other editors may be blocked from editing. Electronic Patient-Reported Outcomes
Hi Ed. I see that you removed an inappropriate link from this article (which I started). I quite agree that the link was inappropriate, but my question is : How did you spot this? It wasn't totally off-topic. I am fascinated by the inner workings of Wikipedia, and if it's not a trade secret I'd like to know more about this type of editing/detecting activity. Kognos (talk) 13:04, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- Assuming you mean this edit, I probably saw the change on my watch list. Looking at the other contributions (Special:Contributions/92.27.163.218) from the anonymous user, I see that he has made no other contributions to Wikipedia except to repeatedly add links to that webpage. This is typically considered spamming. I didn't think the links were very helpful for the articles they were added to , so I removed them. -- Ed (Edgar181)

This compound itself is known to the literature, it is compound 4a in J Med Chem 2003; 46(11):2110-2116, which ironically is not included among the list of references given. However I would not think it notable at this stage, the CB1 Ki is only 245 nM so it is unlikely to see any abuse as an RC cannabinoid, though it is still a moderately potent CB2 agonist with a Ki of 11nM - ironically with this particular series the SAR trend is reversed and the 2-methyl derivative 4b is the stronger at CB1 with a Ki of 8nM, vs 29nM at CB2. Anyway though, there are a couple of review articles that mention this series of compounds and if they had code numbers assigned I'd think they were notable enough for a brief mention, but the code Ur-12 appears entirely invented and most likely is a marketing ploy from some RC vendor who clearly didn't read the reference closely enough! There has been a bit of this recently, I saw an information request the other day about 1-pentyl-3-(tetramethylcyclopropylmethanoyl)indole which is compound 46 from J Med Chem 2010; 53: 295-315, and again thought this was an odd choice to ask about because the CB1 Ki is only 150nM and there are several more potent agonists in the same paper. I suspect now that compounds like JWH-018 and JWH-250 have been banned in most countries, vendors are grasping at straws trying to find the next legal RC cannabinoid to sell, and lots of people are trawling through scientific literature they don't really understand, looking for ideas... Meodipt (talk) 20:14, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
- Oh and now I look at the text more closely there are several clear factual errors, the Ki values are wrong of course and naturally exaggerate the CB1 Ki by some 500x, but also they compare it to A-834,735 when clearly from the context they meant A-796,260...however I'd note that those compounds are both from that same 2010 paper by Frost, Dart et al that I mentioned above. I wonder if the person who made this page is the same one who made that strange information request. Meodipt (talk) 20:24, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your input. I've corrected a couple of the mistakes that you found. Maybe this compound will turn up on the designer drug scene at some point, but until then it doesn't seem like something that falls within Wikipedia's purpose. Perhaps I'll propose this article for deletion after awhile if nothing notable about it turns up. -- Ed (Edgar181) 20:58, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
- FWIW, I see that a similar article was recently created on the Russian Wikipedia (w:ru:UR_12) and that it has been nominated for deletion there (w:ru:Википедия:К_удалению/19_октября_2011#UR_12) but Google translate doesn't do a good enough job for me to follow that discussion. -- Ed (Edgar181) 21:03, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah I saw the Russian page, I think its likely the same author judging by the poor English in this page. For once I wouldn't oppose deletion particularly, it just doesn't seem that notable. I would have thought it would be the 2-methyl derivative that was more notable if anything, and I haven't seen these offered for sale online, but hard to say whats out there really. Meodipt (talk) 21:08, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
- Also it looks like they have got the stereochemistry wrong in the fenchyl ring, I've added a picture of the more notable compound 4b with stereochemistry matching what is shown in the reference, I presume this is correct! Meodipt (talk) 21:32, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

2-Aminopurine
Hello there, I think the image you've uploaded for 2-Aminopurine has an error. Shouldn't the double bond be between the Nitrogen 7 and Carbon 8 rather than between Carbon 8 and Nitrogen 9, since the N-Glycosidic bond is formed between Nitrogen 9 and Carbon 1' of the ribose sugar? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2-Aminopurine — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.226.236.99 (talk) 19:26, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Parkend
Now that you've deleted this page, will you be correcting all the red links that you've created? Obscurasky (talk) 20:19, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
- No, it's not necessary because there is a page that someone would like to move there. I deleted the redirect that was at that title upon request of someone who wanted to move another article there. If it doesn't get moved soon, I'll figure out what was intended and move it myself. -- Ed (Edgar181) 21:07, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
- But all those (currently red) links refer specifically to Parkend, the village. Once a new article has been moved to Parkend those links will become inappropriate? Obscurasky (talk) 00:41, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- OK, I can see what you've done now, although it might have been best to have taken it to the Talk page first. I would think that the original reason, for including 'Gloucestershire' in 'Parkend, Gloucestershire', was probably to disambiguate it from Parkend, Lewis - but I don't suppose that really matters too much. Presumably you'll also be working your way through all the other Forest of Dean villages which have the suffix 'Gloucestershire'? Obscurasky (talk) 09:28, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- The requested move was asserted to be non-controversial, but if you object to the move, I'd be happy to undue it so that it can be discussed. It doesn't make much difference either way to me, so just let me know what you'd prefer. -- Ed (Edgar181) 10:26, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- I agree that the move was non-controversial but, for the reasons I outline above, it was odd - and in that context I still think it might have been better to have taken it to the talk page. Nevertheless, it's done now and, as I said, I don't suppose it really matters too much. Obscurasky (talk) 13:04, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

The article I deleted made no assertion of notability, so it was deleted according to criteria outlined at WP:CSD#A7. -- Ed (Edgar181) 10:29, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Have copied execution newspaper trail to discussion, see there. Have shortened detailed human eutanasia and how to euthanize etc. (give grandma anti-emetic, then wait 30 minutes etc. then serve the tea...) Have also worked on refs, but not finished. - I made a few minor changes, but overall it looks good to me. -- Ed (Edgar181) 14:31, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Why did you replace 2 cite pmid? They worked well. 70.137.128.180 (talk) 14:35, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
- Some of the references used cite pmid and some used cite journal. I think it is best to consistently use one or the other, but it doesn't really make that much difference to me. Please feel free to put it back the way it was if you prefer. -- Ed (Edgar181) 14:38, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
I left cite journal only for the reference that is not indexed in pubmed, and therefore has no pmid. I could use a cite doi for that. In the end they anyway resolve as cite journal in the transcluded template, but with the advantage of centralized and shared maintenance. In fact some of the cite pmid resolve to a redirect to "cite doi" etc. but this also includes sharing. Insofar consistency does not play such a role, if you want to edit the related cite journal, you just click on the "edit" at the reference, that is very practical, then your edit improves all shared uses of this ref. e.g. if you add url for free fulltext you need to to that only once for all articles. 70.137.128.180 (talk) 15:04, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi Edgar181. I am approaching you since you were the administrator who blocked User:Sanjeetbond in May for copyright violations. I'm afraid he keeps doing exactly the same thing, and there is a limit to how many "last warnings" I can give him For instance, this is an article he just created, is copypasted from this. Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 08:39, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. I have blocked him again and warned him that any further copyright violations will likely lead to a permanent block. -- Ed (Edgar181) 14:05, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you. I truly hope he will understand this time, though past evidence suggests that may not be the case. Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 16:01, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
Of course, the block is right. But I am guessing that this is a school, and maybe it should be anonymous only. Just food for your thought. Cheers. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 14:47, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- The block I applied is already anonymous only. -- Ed (Edgar181) 15:54, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

Semi-protect request
Hi there. You've helped me out before with semi-protect locks on some of the young Disney/Nickelodeon stars' pages and I'm back to ask for help again. The last time I posted here (about another page) I mentioned one of the new young Disney stars named Cameron Boyce whose page was attracting a lot of 10-year-olds with a newfound hankering to edit his page. I already knew that the page needed protection last month, but I thought I'd give it another month before I asked for a lock. The edits are not all technically "vandalism", but not a single one of them has been constructive either. His page has had almost 100 edits in less than a month (seen here), but I can spare you the trouble of viewing the history and tell you right now that the only changes kept since last month are an expired reflink fix I made and a bot edit linking to his Polish Wikipedia page. Like I think I mentioned last time - a lot of it doesn't technically fit the criteria for "vandalism", but it's more like 10-year-olds declaring their undying "love" for him, or naming themselves as his new "girlfriend", or repeating info already stated within the article, or removing sourced info they don't "like", or constantly changing his date of birth (which seems to be the favorite "mischief" edit among 10-year-olds), etc, etc. The page is just turning into a time-suck for the "adults" who are watching it, so I was hoping you would consider giving the page a 3 month lock down. From previous experience, I can pretty much guarantee that any constructive edits that happen on a 12-year-old Disney star's bio page are ones from confirmed users anyway, so I don't think we'll be missing out on anything over the next 3 months (except maybe the headache of constantly having to revert it).--- Crakkerjakk (talk) 10:24, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- Looking at the page history, protection seems reasonable to me. I have semi-protected the page. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:14, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks again. One semi-unrelated question that maybe you can help me with - How do i request rollback privileges? I don't really mind just "undoing" pointless edits, but the rollback tool would just make it easier/faster for me to revert without having to type up an edit summary every time. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 23:40, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- All you have to do is ask. You're now a rollbacker. Please just make sure you know when it is appropriate to use (see Wikipedia:Rollback feature). -- Ed (Edgar181) 21:23, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi Edgar, You removed visibility of an edit that was on this article that I had reverted. The User has since put the edit back on again with a reference (which I reverted again). The user has questioned this on his talkpage User talk:89.101.46.15 I'm not sure whether this is relevant to the article as it is about her husband. Could you possibly take a look for me. Vrenator talk 15:34, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm... now that there is a reference that seems to indicate that this really happened, I don't think it is vandalism anymore. But I'm not sure it's directly relevant to the Darina Allen biography either. This is probably something that should be discussed at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard and added to the article only if there is consensus to do so. -- Ed (Edgar181) 15:40, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for populating the chembox on evacetrapib. I am not very experienced with the chembox, so this is much appreciated. Could you let me know how you draw chemical structures? I've been using MDL ISIS Draw, but the export function is dodgy and it doesn't do vector images. JFW | T@lk 18:43, 16 November 2011 (UTC) |
- Thanks, I'm glad to help. I use ChemDraw, which can export in .svg format. I then make a few tweaks in Inkscape (adding margins, etc.) If you ever need a chemical drawing and don't want to do it yourself, just let me know. It usually doesn't take more than a minute or so to create and upload one. -- Ed (Edgar181) 19:18, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
Tamara Toumanova protection
Hi Edgar. I think you've erred in semi-protecting that page; the IP was removing what s/he believed to be an unreliable source, and WP:PP is fairly clear that semi-protection shouldn't be used for disputes in this manner. I ask you to reconsider, and instead block the IP and User:Antique Rose, who definitely broke 3RR. Magog the Ogre (talk) 18:31, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- I understand what you're getting at, but I think it is more complicated. From what I can tell, there is one editor who has been repeatedly editing disruptively using multiple IPs which has led to prior blocks. This editor has been reverted by multiple other editors. So my interpretation of today's events was that the anonymous editor was repeating the same disruptive behavior that had led to prior blocks and Antique Rose was maintaining a consensus version of the article. I chose not to block Antique Rose considering the recent troubled history of the article (though I would not object if you or another admin reviewed the situation and found a block appropriate). When I was considering whether to protect the page or not, I took into account the article history which involves a long term pattern of edit warring and other disruptive editing from anonymous editors. I think temporarily restricting editing to registered users will have a beneficial effect in terms of promoting some needed talk page discussion. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:49, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- Dear Edgar, the information you have is not correct. You write that "there is one editor who has been repeatedly editing disruptively using multiple IPs which has led to prior blocks." The IP-user:88.211.44.71 to whom Antique Rose supports is currently blocked for disruptive editing in the same article [1]. Gazifikator (talk) 19:11, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
OK; part of the problem, though, is that AR appears to have been socking as well under different IPs (although one can never be sure who's who). This is why I just placed an A-A sanctions warning on his page as well. My reading of the talk page shows that it's by no means a consensus (DGG, for example, seems to think it's not clear-cut). But you are right, I'd missed that it was IP hopping when I first messaged you. Regardless, under no pressure from me to come up with a specific decision, I would appreciate if you had the time to close the thread about this at the bottom of WP:AN3. Thanks. Magog the Ogre (talk) 18:59, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- If AR has been using IP socks, that definitely would change things. Unfortunately, I've got only a few minutes before I'll be away from the computer at least until tomorrow. So I'll leave a brief note at AN3 and let you or another admin proceed as you see fit. (My apologies for just dropping things like this, but real life calls...) -- Ed (Edgar181) 19:08, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Hello! If anyone suspects me of using sock accounts, I suggest that that user requests a sockpuppet investigation. Best regards, Antique Rose — Drop me a line 19:57, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Dear Edgar 181! Since the article is blocked for editing (and rightly so), I cannot edit a badly worded sentence (first sentence of the second paragraph of the Personal Life section), right now it is repeating the sentence immediately following it, although with good new references. My proposition is to keep all the sources and citations, but combine and expand the sentence to: Eugenia Tumanishvili and Tamara Toumanova claimed Georgian descent [1][2][3] (also noted by Tamara’s best friend Irina Baronova [4] and expert biographers [5][6][7]). Some sources also mention Armenian heritage[8][9][10][11][12][13].
- I semi-protected the article simply to prevent the repeated edit warring. I did so as an administrator who is uninvolved with editing the content of the article, and it is probably best that I stay uninvolved in that respect. I recommend that you outline your suggested changes to the article (just as you've done here) on the article's talk page Talk:Tamara Toumanova and if there is consensus for your suggested wording it can then be added to the article. -- Ed (Edgar181) 14:20, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
Closing AfDs
Just a friendly reminder, could you remember when you close AfDs, such as this one, to also remove the AfD template from the article and also add an old AfD template to the talk page? You likely just forgot to do so. SilverserenC 23:36, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- It looks like someone moved the article while the AFD was underway, so the script I use to close such discussions got confused and put the AfD template on the new redirect's talk page instead. Thanks for catching the mix-up and fixing it. -- Ed (Edgar181) 15:00, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Recreation of article on boomnkin
I have re-written an article for boomkin, a subject that was deleted some time ago for being nonsensical, etc. I have started from scratch, and believe I have created a credible and referenced piece (I am not the original author). I would like to re-establish the article, and would like a "by your leave" to do so. My version of the article is on my user page, accessible here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:KDS4444/Boomkin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:GH15_-_God_Of_Hormones
- Looking at it again, it still seems like you are promoting something. But with the personal attacks on named individuals, and "soapboxing" it is clearly not appropriate content. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and your user page is for putting something about yourself relevant to your contributions to Wikipedia. Please see WP:USER for details. -- Ed (Edgar181) 15:16, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Ok,thanks man,and thanks for the fast answer... I understand now. Say one more question, if i have created similar page, but not as user page, more like wikipedia page, will it still be deleted ?
- I think it falls well outside of the scope of Wikipedia's purpose. It would likely be deleted. There are other, better outlets for that type of thing. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:59, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

- The categories I removed seemed a bit tangential to me. Typically Wikipedia articles are only placed in categories related to defining characteristics, so as a software tool and chemical database, I wouldn't consider Reaxys to be a topic specific to organometallic chemistry, for example. -- Ed (Edgar181) 19:48, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

- When the protection on the page expires, please do not continue to edit war over the content of the article. Discuss on the talk page rather than immediately reverting. Also, I don't know if this applies to you or not but it certainly appears as if multiple editors are using more than one account or IP address to edit war over the article, which is in violation of WP:SOCK and may lead to editors being blocked from editing. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:55, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

RE: Sucralfate Article Update
I am a pharmacist and pharmacologist (PhD) with past industrial and academic experience and recent direct FDA interaction regarding the drug, sucralfate. Working independently of industry sponsorship I defended FDA market clearance for a formulation of sucralfate which is prepared by controlled reaction of sucralfate with HCl prior to dosing(US Patent 6,391,860). This method forms the paste typically associated with the mechanism of action of sucralfate given orally for treatment of duodenal ulcers. Because the paste is formed before dosing and applied directly to wounds, it meets the FDA definition for a medical device (hydrogel wound dressing) and on this basis 510(k) clearance for oral wounds was granted in 2008.
The link below reflects the most recent official FDA action on this aspect and is clearly relevant to the listing of uses for sucralfate (since other than duodenal ulcer treatment and maintenance this is the only other use that actually has received FDA review and clearance for the US).
http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/cdrh_docs/pdf8/K082856.pdf
I would like to add this information to the article but an not an experienced editor of Wikipedia articles and am not typically active on posting boards. Could discuss with you the best way to ensure the error-free addition of this information to the article including the link to the publically available FDA action document? I will share that I am not wholly unbiased as I am the independent commercial developer of that acid-activated paste.

- If you don't feel comfortable editing the article directly yourself (though I would encourage you to do so - see Wikipedia:Be bold), probably the best way to go about this is to make specific suggestions on the article's talk page, Talk:Sucralfate, for any changes you would like to see to the article. I will take a look and make the changes, or other editors who read your suggestions may also so do. If you have any specific questions about editing Wikipedia (which I know can be quite confusing at first) please don't hesitate to ask and I'll try to help out. -- Ed (Edgar181) 21:00, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
74.231.187.216
I have updated the IP's talk page to reflect the new information in WHOIS, and it is registered to a school district now (things change, I guess). You may want to consider changing that to a {{schoolblock}} soft block so that students can create their own accounts. I usually don't notify admins when I find new WHOIS information on blocked users, but this is a special case because it was previously marked as a public terminal, which probably caused you to block with account creation disabled. Logan Talk Contributions 16:34, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for letting me know. I have changed the block message to {{schoolblock}}. But it is standard practice to block account creation for school IP addresses that are the source of persistent, long-term vandalism so I have left account creation disabled. -- Ed (Edgar181) 16:41, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
Regarding the deletion of the ENTIRE page on IPI-145 - it is my understanding that if the person writing the page is the author, co-author, creator, or owner of a copyrighted article, said article could be used, verbatim if referenced. You deleted a page that I wrote, using previous articles I have authored, including the copy on the company site. You even deleted quoted text from clinicaltrials.gov and left a blank page? What kind of scientist are you? Do you work for Genentech or Pfizer??? I plan to re-write the page as well as one on IPI-504 and update the other existing data with new clincial findings for other brands therein. Please keep your hands to yourself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScotHibb (talk • contribs) 00:27, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
- For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text. It is Wikipedia policy to delete such material (see Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion for details). If you are the owner of a website and you would like to have Wikipedia use text from that website, you can follow the directions at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. As for your "keep your hands to yourself" comment, if you do not want your writing to be edited by others, then Wikipedia is not the place for you - that's pretty much the whole point of a wiki. -- Ed (Edgar181) 02:13, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
As far as the "keep you hands off" comment, there was a LOT of data on the IPI-145 site that I wrote that was NOT pick-up or in any-way copyrighted material, yet you deleted the entire page...you didn't even leave the title and the intro I wrote. Half of what I wrote I only referenced because there are too many Wiki-Nazis out there who delete a whole section because they couldn't find a reference for it. I bet my grant that you will delete what I write next out of spite and find some loophole to rationalize why you deleted it. I have been writing and editing for many years on wikis and find that there are TOO many people out there that pride themselves on their "total pages deleted" stats. Time will tell if you are one of them, for now I can just TRY to write an objective page without using the same 2 words in the same sentence that some other site somewhere in the universe used, and review the "donate my copyrighted material" form. Which, by the way, information on ClinicalTrials.gov and press releases are NOT copyrighted material. Only a SMALL fraction of the page I wrote on IPI-145 was referenced to the corporate site (the part I will now look into "donating"... — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScotHibb (talk • contribs) 23:37, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, because all revisions of the article contained copyrighted text, Wikipedia policy doesn't leave an option other than deletion. You are of course free to recreate that article with non-copyrighted text (or text which your company re-licenses in a way that is compatible with Wikipedia guidelines). If you need a copy of the deleted article to help you rewrite a new article, please let me know and I can email it to you. Wikipedia's guidelines can be dense at times and it's difficult even for long time users to figure them out, but I found this statement at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright which details how press releases are to be treated: "press releases are handled like other copyrighted content. In the absence of explicit disclaimer or permission, these may not be freely reproduced." -- Ed (Edgar181) 01:12, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
yes, it would be very helpful to have the article so I can re-write and submit needed re-license forms where applicable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScotHibb (talk • contribs) 20:37, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi there. I've contacted you before about protecting some young Disney and Nickelodeon star's bio pages and I'm back to ask about another article. The Leo Howard article has been gaining attention over the last few days. I'm not exactly sure why there's been a sudden newfound interest in his page - things seemed pretty quiet until a few days ago - but I'm just guessing his Disney show may have begun airing in some new countries and new viewers are just now "discovering" him. The edits are basically 12-year-old girls blanking sections to declare how "hot" or how "cute" he is. I brought the article from a "stub" to a "C-class" article a couple of months ago, and since the holidays are coming up and kids are going to have a lot more free time on their hands, I was wondering if you would consider a lock on his page for a few months until the renewed interest from fangirls has had a chance to die down? Thanks. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 18:39, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
- I've semi-protected for one month, and then we'll see what happens after that. -- Ed (Edgar181) 21:49, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
- Perfect. As always - Thanks for your help. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 23:57, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
Coffee furanone structure
Hi Edgar,
Unfortunately the structure of coffee furanone is wrong. I do not know how to create and add chemical structures to a ChemBox, so I would appreciate if you would make the correction. The structure is essentially the same as that of 2-methyl THF, however there is a carbonyl at the 3-position in the ring (a synonym is 2-methyltetrahydrofuran-3-one). In other words, this chemical is not a lactone (a cyclic ester) it is a combination of a cyclic ether and a cyclic ketone. Thanks,

- You're right. I put the oxygen in the wrong place. I have fixed the image and corrected the category I added to the article. Thanks for catching the error and letting me know. -- Ed (Edgar181) 21:13, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
WJLA/WTOP
Were the RevDel'd edits to the WTOP-FM and WJLA-TV pages just random cussing and vulgar comments? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 21:26, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
- It wasn't the random cussing, but the repeated use of one specific racist word that prompted me to rev-del the lot. -- Ed (Edgar181) 21:29, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
- Well, that falls under the "vulgar comments". Yeah, this guy we have a problem with. We even have an edit filter in place to stop him, but it looks like he has changed his edits just enough to get around it (it had been doing a pretty good job). Do you work with edit filters? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 21:31, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
- No, I don't work with edit filters myself. I've always just made requests at Wikipedia:Edit filter/Requested when necessary. -- Ed (Edgar181) 21:33, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
- Okie Dokie, no problem. I can track down someone to tweak the filter and keep this guy from messing with these. Might have to extend it to other pages since he/she seems to really hate some soap opera stars too. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 21:36, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Music Notability - Star FK Radium
Edgar, a while back i asked why you deleted Laura Burhenn, a musician. My band that I lead, "Star FK Radium" has page that has been up for 4 months. The "unreviewed article block" was shortly taken off I presume by an administrator. i carefully read notability guidelines for bands (after your advice on understanding notabiilty) and waited for 3 and a half years before asking a music journalist to create a page because (1) we release our own material and (b) because our biggest notability is that Bastian Kullenberg of Crazewire, a German music magazine (along with 29 other international music journailists) interviewed or reviewed Star FK Radium and published it on his music blog. What specifically is relevant is that Bastian Kullenberg also interviewed "Drive by Truckers" a very well known and established band. My feeling is he would not have interviewed Star FK Radium unless he believes us to be noteworthy. The source for Bastian Kullenberg's blog is on our Wiki page under Buzzpop. Would you be willing to review our page that is "under consideration for deletion" and I respect any decision you make. Bill — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.89.201.253 (talk) 19:35, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
- The article is under discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Star FK Radium, and you are free to contribute to that discussion however you like (as an administrator, my opinion doesn't count any more than yours or anyone else's there). Wikipedia's criteria for including articles about bands is at Wikipedia:Notability (music). I would encourage you to have a look at that page and see if you can add any more information to Star FK Radium that might better demonstrate how the band meets Wikipedia's inclusion guidelines. I personally don't see anything that would lead me to a conclusion different than the opinions already expressed at the deletion discussion, but you're in the best position to provide a counter argument to them, so I would encourage you do to so. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:29, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Edgar,
I saw your post here about the mistaken bot templates, but this user and numerous others have actually been brought up at ANI and are apparently socks of User:Crouch, Swale, a banned user. I don't really know what all they were editing, but I did revert your edit and they've been blocked. Calabe1992 16:41, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

SVG conversion & advice requested
Hi Edgar, you've been recommended to me by Smartse as a go-to guy for converting chemical structure pngs to SVGs. I'm working on Psilocybin and would like to get all aspects of the article up to snuff before I take it to FAC. Might you be able to convert File:Psilocybin biosynthesis.png for me? Also, I would greatly appreciate it if you might have any time or inclination to review the chemical aspects of the article and point out any errors or inaccuracies that you see. I'm particularly worried about the contents of the Chembox: I don't have any experience with preparing chemical articles for FAC, and am unsure how much of the minutiae needs to be listed. For example, is it necessary to include stuff like acidity, basicity, or log P? None of these parameters are mentioned in the article itself, and are therefore not cited. Thanks, Sasata (talk) 16:17, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- Comment: You might replace the Russian text in File:Psilocybin biosynthesis ru.svg by the English translation using Inkscape. --Leyo 16:21, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- I have created file:Biosynthesis of psilocybin.svg. Thanks for the suggestion, Leyo, but I created a new version with orientation to match what is in the chembox for the sake of consistency.-- Ed (Edgar181) 16:56, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- As for the contents of the chembox, it is fine. The chembox is very robust in the sense that it can accommodate a considerable variety of data, but much of it is not considered necessary by wikichemists. I'll take a close look at the chemical aspects of the article a little later today. -- Ed (Edgar181) 16:56, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- The suggestion was mainly directed to Sasata.
- I would like to see the property data in the chembox individually referenced. --Leyo 17:16, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thank-you Edgar; looking forward to any comments about the article. Leyo, Inkscape is unfortunately currently beyond my skillset, and one of the things I like about Wikipedia is being able to ask others for help in areas in which I'm not very competent :-) I will make sure the property data is properly cited before FAC. Sasata (talk) 17:40, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
Hi again Edgar. The "reward" for a job well done is often being asked to do another job. So here I am: would you be willing to create another SVG chem diagram for me? Specifically, I'd like to essentially replicate the psilocybin metabolism diagram as shown on page 12 of this document, but with the following amendments: no hyphens between "Hydroxy-indole"; spelling 4-Hydroxyltryptophole -> 4-Hydroxyltryptophol and O-glucoronide->O-glucuronide; anything else I may be missing? Thanks for sharing your expertise (and correcting my mescaline-indole blunder!) Sasata (talk) 05:54, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'd be happy to create that image. I should be able to get to it today. I think I will include the structure of the glucuronide that is missing from that figure. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:15, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- OK, I have uploaded the file as File:Psilocybin metabolism.svg. I originally created the diagram with the same layout as in the reference, but also tried a more horizontal layout, which just looks better to me. Depending on how it is going to be used in the article, you may prefer the original. You can see both versions of the file on Commons. Please feel free to revert to the original upload if you prefer that version. If you would like to suggest any changes, it would be no trouble for me to make further modifications to the diagram - just let me know. -- Ed (Edgar181) 14:15, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thank-you very much! I have used the horizontal layout for now, but may change my mind in the future. Cheers, Sasata (talk) 18:01, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Edgar, do you how to fix the red error mark after the CAS number in the chembox? It seems the outgoing link does not work properly even though the registry number appears to be correct and this error is preventing the verification that would remove the red x at the bottom of the box (I think). Sasata (talk) 21:23, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
- The problem is that the Common Chemistry website only has data for common chemicals, not every chemical with a CAS number. User:CheMoBot therefore can't verify that it is correct. CheMoBot should also be able to verify against my list at User:Edgar181/non-commonchemistry-sourced CASNo, but for some reason hasn't done so. I'll ask User:Beetstra who operates the bot. -- Ed (Edgar181) 02:35, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
Proanthocyanidin_A2
I see that you adjusted the picture of Proanthocyanidin A2 but it still needs adjusting. The bond linking the B and C ring of the top base unit should be dashed to show the proper conformation. Here is a picture I uploaded to show the discrepancy. Thank you.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/02/Proanthocyanidin_A2.png — Preceding unsigned comment added by DexterWillyPopus (talk • contribs) 05:27, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
- At a stereocenter in a ring system, when the stereochemistry of one of the substituents is defined, the stereochemistry of the other is implicit. So the chemical structure depicted in File:Proanthocyanidin_A2.svg isn't incorrect. But it's probably clearer the way you have drawn it, so I will modify my image to match. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:28, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Re: This block....the IP user has been waiting a day or more to make these disruptive edits again and has been doing it for a while now. Is it possible to block the IP for a week? After all, if blocks are preventative, blocking for 24 hours is not likely to prevent the IP from vandalizing considering the history. Lhb1239 (talk) 16:58, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
- Generally, I think a short block for the first time is a good idea - it often gets people's attention enough to stop the disruptive editing. I have put the targeted article on my watch list and if the problem returns, I'll block for at least a week. -- Ed (Edgar181) 13:55, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Design of Love Removal
I would like to revise this entry to better conform to posting standards. Please advise suggestions or let me know how I can submit a revision. You marked the article for speedy deletion when it is a bio about two furniture designers similar to others posted on Wikipedia. I will add additional available locations for the designers or other information. Please advise as I spent a lot of time writing this piece.
Thank you.

- I deleted Design of Love because it was written in a blatantly promotional tone. It was an advertisement masquerading as an article. Adding additional available locations for the designers will not make it more acceptable. Wikipedia articles must be written from a neutral point of view. Also, Wikipedia has notability criteria for inclusion which can be found here: Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Finally, Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy appears to apply as well. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:44, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
Moving
Hi Edgar181, and Happy Belated Christmas,
My question is, how do I move an article w/ its revisions intact? I made a mess, that you've thank fully cleaned up ~ due to an editor's vandalizing, and I just copied+pasted to the appropriate article name - but the revisions were missing. If you understand what I'm trying to say - don't know if I'm making sense ;) - could you please explain? thank you, -- MST☆R (Merry Christmas!) 12:55, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for trying to help. However, articles have to be moved using Wikipedia's move feature (see Wikipedia:Moving a page), rather than copied and pasted. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:57, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
- Oh.. okay then. Thank you! -- MST☆R (Merry Christmas!) 12:59, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi
Hi, I was just wondering if there was something you could do about the user who is a single purpose account with the intention of smearing my name on Wikipedia. [2], [3],[4] and that is just a few of the comments. I hope you can see why I reported this to you.--BabbaQ (talk) 14:27, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- I wish you a Happy New Year!! :)--BabbaQ (talk) 14:27, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- Happy New Year to you too. I see that since you left this message here, another administrator has stepped in to deal with this user. For now, it is probably best to see how that plays out. In the mean time, just staying away from this user when possible is my recommendation. -- Ed (Edgar181) 17:14, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
SUSS
Could you please let us know why you deleted the page Society for Undergraduate Science Students (SUSS) - the page had verified external links from official and reliable sites, and was not aimed at advertising, only recounting and describing what the organisation stands for and its recent history.
Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by UQSUSS (talk • contribs) 15:52, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- I deleted User:UQSUSS because it was essentially promotional in nature. According to guidelines at Wikipedia:User pages, your user page is for saying something about yourself individually, not for the purpose of promoting an organization. It is for similar reasons that other administrators have deleted the other pages you created and have blocked your account from editing and asking you to sign up with different username. -- Ed (Edgar181) 17:18, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
