Welcome to my Wikipedia page. My name is Emily Burlingham and I am in the class of 2015 at Bucknell University. I am majoring in Environmental Studies, and minoring in American Literature. I have developed a particular interest in environmental policy and justice after taking a wide variety of environmentally based classes over the past three years at Bucknell. However, this developing interest has been recent, as in high school I considered history and english my favorite subjects. Therefore, I am excited to be taking a class that contains both historical and ecological aspects.
This past summer I worked at Earthwatch, an organization that leads expeditions headed by scientists to various parts of the world to do research. Regular civilians are encouraged to join as an opportunity to participate in field research and make a difference in improving the environment. This upcoming summer I hope to participate in an expedition researching either climate change in the Arctic, or marine health in the Great Barrier Reef or Belize. I am excited to learn in depth more about the history of ecological work through this class and understand the development that led to practices used today.
