editSee main template: The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF)
The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF) at UC Berkeley is a program that channels dedicated student green fees into grants that support student-developed sustainability projects on campus. The UC Berkeley TGIF was passed as a referendum vote by 67% of the student body during the Spring 2007 Associated Students of the University of California elections. The grant-making program is modeled after the 2006 UC Santa Barbara TGIF.
((Still in process:does this count as encyclopedic? From its inception in 2007 to 20XX, UC Berkeley's TGIF has raised over ($n) in project funding.))
((Encyclopedic? The fee is active for 10 years from inception. The initial fee was $5 per student per semester, and will cap at $6 in its final 4 years. One-third of the fee is dedicated to offsetting the cost for students eligible for financial aid.)) [1]
UCB TGIF mission statement
edit“The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF) provides funding for projects that reduce UC Berkeley's negative impact on the environment and make UC Berkeley more sustainable. TGIF will allocate funds to projects that promote sustainable modes of transportation, increase energy efficiency, and reduce the amount of waste created by UC Berkeley. Portions of the fund also support education and behavior changes initiatives, student aid (via return to aid), and internships. TGIF is supported by student fees and administered through a student-majority grant-making committee.”[2]

edit- Berkeley Student Food Collective (BSFC): A student-run cooperative grocery store located on Bancroft Way across the street from the main UC Berkeley campus.
- BicyCAL: A student-run on-campus bicycle repair cooperative. BicyCAL began in 2008 as a bike share program after winning a grant from the UC Berkeley “Big Ideas” competition. After winning a 2009 TGIF grant, BicyCAL shifted its focus to bike maintenance and expanded into a full-service on-campus bike repair workshop. The TGIF grant offsets resource costs, making BicyCAL a free service for UC Berkeley students. (Opened shop in 2011.) [1]
