Dr. Prateep V Philip (born 9 September 1961) is a senior ranking IPS officer at Tamil Nadu, India, currently he is serving as the Director, Tamil Nadu Police Academy and he was earlier DGP, Crime Branch CID.[1] He is a motivational writer, public speaker, author, and the founder of Friends of Police, EQ-Thinking, and Excenomics.[2]

Passionate about reading, writing and studying the human mind, his inimitable style of functioning and exuberance has won him global recognition and many laurels not only as an IPS officer but for his other pursuits as well. While Dr. Prateep has authored several books, his collection of 3333 Maxims copyrighted quotes, which he calls ‘Fillipisms’, has made him the world’s first author to collate the largest number of original quotes.[3] [4] One of the oldest and most revered publishing house, ATC Publishers organized the launch of Fillipisms 3333 Maxims to maximize life, a book by Dr. Prateep V Philip IPS. The author Dr. Prateep unveiled the book alongside M. Lakshminarayana IAS, Advisor to the chief Minister of Karnataka, Dr. Fr Victor Lobo, Principal of St. Joseph's College (Autonomous), Col. David Devasahayam, CMD of Radiant Group and Nigel Fernandes, CEO - ATC Publishers at St. Joseph's College, Bangalore (Autonomous). It was a humanitarian kindness Dr. Prateep received from an unknown citizen in the aftermath of this traumatic incident, that led him to birth the Friends of Police movement - that has received several accolades including the Queen's Award for Innovation in Police Training and Development, by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II; and the SKOCH Gold Award - the highest independently instituted civilian honor in India. [5] He was selected for the Inaugural British Gurukul Chevening Scholarship Award for Excellence and Leadership at London School of Economics, London, during 1997-98. [6] [7]
