User:J. Smile (Love & V.A.V.I)/Notability and my opinion
This page in a nutshell: Don't think that have article about some topic is a "requirement" since notability is not objective and even if have it then it will not right great wrongs. |
In my opinion, notability is subjective decision, and some of borderline cases have been sent to Wikipedia:Article for deletion discussions. And Afd is also hostile to some contributors, especially new one, as they may think other Wikipedians disrespect their contributions, despite the fact that other one just try to prevent Wikipedia from some disruptive.
Well, per Wikipedia:What notability is not: Notability is not objective, and A topic's inclusion in Wikipedia is decided by a consensus of Wikipedians, nothing more and nothing less.
notability is just a presumption and consensus can change. But I promise that under no circumstance should I make some personal attack or disrespect your contributions.
If I nominate something at Afd, I will try to explain, at my best. To avoid personal attack, please have proper conservations, even if you disagree with my opinion.
But, sometime if an article get deletion, it's not the end. You always have the right to do it outside Wikipedia, like Fandom. You may also do promotions by post it at your social media.
And, to be honest, even I try to be as fair as possible, I think my fairness can't be like Wikipedia's. Plus, an wikipedia article is not meant to be proud, because it will not promote things or right great wrongs. There's no need to hope for Wikipedia article because if you, or someone you like have article here, you can't hope to have it just state "positive" things. The Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guidelines will limit you for edit out anything, include negative one from these articles. Ignore them, even just a part of these may result in your edit get revoked and you may have some other consequences because the law of unintended consequences always applies.
Anyway, you just need to remember that topic's inclusion is not guaranteed (because it's based on editor's common sense); however, you always have right to do it outside Wikipedia. Plus, you may ask an administrator to send you the "deleted" article content.
