The first ever World Multiple Sclerosis Day, planned for 27 May 2009,[1] is a day organised by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) [1] with the intention of "rais[ing] awareness" about multiple sclerosis (MS) and "build[ing] global solidarity for the MS movement". [1]
47 countries have pledged to support or recognise the day in some way,[1] which hopes to provide individuals, groups and organisations in the global MS movement with an opportunity to participate in internationally co-ordinated events and activities that look to raise awareness of MS as a global issue and raise funds to support the work of the movement.
