LGBT history in Hawaii: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_history_in_Hawaii
Lead Paragraph:
LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. The term has been in use since the 1990's, and is used as an inclusive initial for the LGBT community. Though it is widely recognized across the world, it was forth-coming. In Hawaii, the LGBT community has been evolving for the past hundred years. In the Pre-19th Century, an influence of Polynesian culture lead to a more open minded state. After the first Christian missionaries began arriving in Hawaii, strict sodomy laws were enacted and the LGBT community was threatened with the force of law. The last sodomy case was argued in 1958, Territory v. Bell. After the turn of the 20th Century, LGBT issues began being decided on and taken to the Supreme Court. In 2013, Hawaii voted in favor of gay marriage, and couples began have licenses issued to them.
