My name is Mark Smith and I am a former writer based in Malta and the UK. I think that Wikipedia has benefited millions of people and thus contribute what I can to make it a better resource.

General information about me

I am originally from England and have spent many years working in Malta, where I came to work in its online gaming industry, initially doing SEO and writing copy. I am no longer employed in the gaming industry but have extensive personal knowledge from over ten years working in it. I have a computer science degree and have a long term interest in artificial intelligence and its applications.

I am an occasional contributor to Wikipedia, starting out in 2008 doing small fixes, and eventually deciding to participate more fully in 2018.

My nick, Maltalinks, is a rather old one that predates Wikipedia :-)

I believe that it is important for editors to give a general overview of personal viewpoints.

I am male but a strong supporter of gender equality.
I am from England and reside in Malta.
I am agnostic and secular humanist.
I am Caucasian but a strong supporter of racial equality.
I am politically liberal in most cases, but tend to make up my own mind issue by issue.
I do not belong to any organized political party.
I am heterosexual but a strong supporter of LGBT rights, including the right to marry.
I support the free culture movement.
I support open source software.
