This noticeboard is intended for reports about active, obvious, and persistent vandals and spammers. For further help, see the AIV guide.
Reporting instructions
- The following are examples of how to report a vandal on this page. Please copy and paste an appropriate example to the very bottom of the page.
- For reporting logged-in users:
* {{Vandal|username}} optional brief reason for listing (keep it short) ~~~~
- For reporting IP (unregistered) users:
* {{IPvandal|IP address}} brief reason for listing (keep it short) ~~~~
- Requests for further sanctions against a blocked user (e.g., talk page, e-mail blocks) should go to WP:ANI, as a bot automatically removes accounts here that are blocked.
- Administrators typically action clear vandalism and disruption quickly. Before notifying administrators of a backlog here on another forum, consider if the remaining reports are actionable.
Important! Your report may be declined if:
- The vandalism or spam is not obvious.
- The user has been given insufficient warnings to stop their disruptive behavior.
- A set of standardized template warnings are available to use.
- The warning(s) should have been given recently, and the user should have continued to vandalize despite the warnings.
- There is no reason to suspect that the user will further disrupt the site in the immediate future.
- Blocks are used to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, not to punish users.
- Stale reports are automatically cleared by MDanielsBot after 4–8 hours with no action.
- To request page protection, visit WP:RFPP.
- To report problematic usernames, visit WP:UAA.
- To report edit warring, visit WP:ANEW.
- To report suspected sockpuppetry, visit WP:SPI.
- Sockpuppetry may also be reported here at AIV if the connection between the accounts is obvious and disruption is recent and ongoing.
- To report other incidents and behavioral problems, visit WP:ANI.
- For general questions about editing Wikipedia, ask at the Teahouse or the help desk.
