Story of an innocent fox
editI sleepily slumped down just outside of my den after a failed attempt to catch a mouse. I was nearly starved, yet I was extremely happy. My mate would not let me in, as she had just given birth to a bundle of pups. Though I couldn’t see them, I could not be more proud. I couldn’t wait until they came out of the den. I thought that soon, I would be licking their little muzzles with more love than I had ever felt in my life. Just then, I heard the galloping of a horse and the frantic barking of dogs. Quickly, I got to my feet and trotted away from the den. But it was too late. The dogs smelled me, and went mad with barking, snarling, and yipping. I took off as fast as I could, careful to lead them away from my den and the small, fragile pups inside. Behind me, I heard the bloodthirsty dogs, the galloping of a horse, and a human male making strange noises. I couldn’t believe it! How could he be so cruel? I remembered being fed some scraps of meat by a nice human before. But this one was evil. I sprinted into my last chance for survival, a field of tall plants, in an effort to save my own life. But this was hard to do, as I was on the point of starvation, and the dogs were gaining on me. I launched myself out of the forest and into the plants. But it did not help. One of the dogs pulled up on me and took me down. I yelped and he tore at my smaller body. Time seemed to slow, as more dogs showed up, pulling at me. In the midst of all this, as my tail was ripped off, I glanced up and saw the cruel, evil, heartless human. He was smiling, which I had learned meant he was happy. I was in the most intense pain I had ever felt, and he was enjoying it! Drops of my own blood hit the ground, I felt by limbs being torn off, and everything went black.
