Mandyam Iyengars are a community of Iyengar Brahmins of Tamil origin, settled in Melkote and surrounding regions of Mandya and Mysore districts of Karnataka. Mandyam Iyengars, like other Iyengar communities, are followers of the Vishishtadvaita philosophy propounded by Ramanujacharya. They speak Mandyam Tamil, a dialect of medieval Iyengar Tamil with significant Kannada substrate. Mandyam Iyengars, without exception, belong to the Thenkalai subsect.[1]
