Background

edit

Samantha Alison White was born in Romford, Essex and grew up in the rural setting of Ingatestone, where she attended the Anglo European School from the ages of 11 to 16. At the age of 13 she moved 6 miles away from Ingatestone, to the city of Chelmsford.

After completing her GCSE's she attended Thurrock and Basildon College (now South Essex College) where she achieved a BTEC ND in Interactive Multimedia. She then took a year out from education and worked as a waitress at The Fox and Raven pub in Chelmer Village, Chelmsford. In September 2010 she enrolled at the University of Hull (Scarborough Campus) where she is now in her third year studying BA (Hons) Design for Digital Media .

Live Event Coverage

Party Sanchez
edit

In 2011, Samantha became interested in live vision mixing for events when she was approached by local event organiser, Simon Elliot, who asked her to mix and record footage of the event 'Party Sanchez' at Quidds Inn, Scarborough, the footage was then streamed live to monitors around the venue. Never having been involved with a project of this nature, Samantha took on the challenge and gathered a team of 5 volunteers who would be camera operatives and a vision mixer.

Acoustic Gathering
edit

One year later, in 2012, she was asked to do the same thing but this time it was for a two day festival in Peasholm Park, Scarborough. The Acoustic Gathering is an annual festival, attracting hundreds of people in this scenic part of Scarborough. Again, it was Samantha's job to assemble a team of volunteers to operate the camera's while she mixed the live visuals and managed the team.

Both of these experiences lead her in the direction of which she would like to continue in her ever-nearing career and is currently searching for a position with a broadcast or content production company to steer her in the right direction.

Photography

edit

Samantha was involved heavily with both traditional and digital photography during her 2 years at college. She was introduced to photography from an early age, learning to use her mothers Olympus OM-10 when she was 13, she always kept her composition conscious eye out for a good photograph. College just added to her experience, as this is when she learned how to develop her own film and built on her knowledge of lighting techniques. Some of her favourite work can be found on her Flickr page.

Whitby2Scarborough Mini Run

edit

One of her loves in life is her 1990 Rover Mini Mayfair (Sparky), an ongoing project (currently in need of a respray), she is an avid member of the classic mini community having organised Whitby2Scarborough 2012 mini run, which attracted approximately 50 mini's in it's debut year - no second year has been organised due to an intense third year at university.
