Welcome!
editHello, Saoul91 and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one.
If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Helpme}}
before the question.
Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and should be treated accordingly.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! --Geniac (talk) 00:24, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
Connie E-mail
editHey, just wondering if there's been any response from Connie with regards to the article? I've had some pretty good responses in the Teahouse for some formatting questions I've had.
Cheers

editNot heard anything back yet. That sounds like a good idea, what sort of things have you found out? 17:19, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
There's 2 main ways which we can use to kick-start the page, either using the manual of style or by looking at other scholars here and using a similar format to whats been used. Would be cool to get this page kick-started either asap as I think that will generate more ideas from everyone in the group. Bellsniff123 (talk) 12:49, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
I've just been creating a provisional page on my sandbox. Come see ... User:Saoul91/sandbox Saoul91 (talk) 13:18, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

Requested to publish article
editI have requested for the article currently on my sandbox to be published. This way, we can post it to the teahouse and get feedback on it. Doesn't matter that it is not yet finished, we can continue to add, however it is important that we start getting more engagement. Saoul91 10:11, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
I've just been tightening my section but it's ready to be added now. Cheers Bellsniff123 (talk) 10:20, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
OK. I've fixed some spellings and fixed up the heading styles on the Areas of research section. Mogzilla91 (talk) 10:49, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

Addressing the subject
editHello guys, I've noticed a lot of variation throughout the article involving how Connie is addressed. Having this issue in mind I addressed this to the Teahouse who told me that the subject should be addressed by a mixture of surname and 'she'. These are the answers I have had back:
Use a mix of "she" and the surname, never the forename. Roger (talk) 18:55, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
Full name first time a person is mentioned, surname in subsequent mentions, unless it's obvious who you're talking about and comes soon after using the name, in which case she/he is fine. ie. You don't need to repeat the surname several times in quick successsion, especially within the same sentence, unless someone else has also been mentioned and it might be confusing who you're talking about. Footnote73 (talk) 19:36, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
See WP:LASTNAME for more.--ukexpat (talk) 19:52, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
(You can find my question titled 'Writing Style' on the Teahouse)
Following that, each of us need to review our sections and edit as necessary. For continuity sake I think we shall just stick to Varnhagen rather than Dr Varnhagen (Sorry Sam)
Saoul91 (talk) 16:23, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- That's how I've been referring to her on my section so that's all gravy. Mogzilla91 (talk) 17:01, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- I've been using just her last name, so have made some minor tweaks so it's not so monotonous. cheers Bellsniff123 (talk) 17:05, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
There's more stuff here, not just on addressing the subject, in case we need to touch up the article at all to fit in with this style. Manual of Style. Kaolincash (talk) 13:49, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- Whoops, I just saw that's already been linked to. Sorry! Kaolincash (talk) 13:50, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
