Jose Roger Raymond, also known as "The Boston Mass," (December 29, 1974 Boston, MA)[1][2] is an active American bodybuilder from Wakefield, Massachusetts.[3]
In his early years, prior to bodybuilding, Raymond tried his hand in several different sports, including football, soccer, wrestling, baseball, basketball, and track.[4]
Personal life
editJose Raymond is the youngest of eight siblings. In an interview with Muscular Development, Raymond stated that he was not born into ideal circumstances; rather he lived in a ghetto in absolute poverty. “All sorts of tragedy and turmoil was happening. Many times there was no food in the house or electricity or heating in a Boston winter. Violence and alcohol addiction surrounded us." Raymond also stated "my birth parents couldn’t always provide for us. So me and my brother Tito Raymond, who is five years older than me, were shuttled back and forth from foster homes to our birth home because our parents did not want to give us up. But the authorities believed we could not stay with them because they couldn’t cope on account of having so many kids.[5]"
Education
editJose Raymond attended Dean Junior College (Franklin, MA.) from 1993-1995, there he was awarded an associates degree in Health and Fitness. From 1995-1998 Jose attended Plymouth State University (Plymouth, NH.) and was awarded a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science as well as a minor in Nutrition.
