Simon Beavis is not his real name. He picked the name after reading a Newsweek quote where a chef named Simon Beavis quit his lucrative job at a British seafood restaurant because he "could no longer look into the eyes" of the lobsters that were about to be boiled alive. The name caught his attention, as he is a fan of Beavis and Butt-head and likes seafood.
Though an American, Simon is an anglophile. His personality can best be described as Bohemian with Goth tendencies, but despises the elitism found in both scenes. Those who know him have compared him to Dick Solomon.
Simon's contributions can be found all over Wikipedia, but he has contributed many articles regarding gothic rock bands, as it is one of his favorite genres (the other being progressive rock). He can also be seen in sections relating to Doctor Who, James Bond, The X-Files, and Batman, and has contributed a share of articles on those topics.
