Buddhism is often referred to as a religion, philosophy, or way of life, based initially on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, known as Gautama Buddha or simply The Buddha;[1] today there are a great many traditions, with widely divergent views, all under the umbrella of Buddhism.
