TexasBob85 is a Wikipedia editor and graphic designer who specializes in military insignia and military history with a focus on the US Uniformed Services, specifically US Army insignia, unit histories and other military related topics. My current goal is to eliminate any lack of reference notification on US Army units of brigade size or higher that are independent. I previously ensured documentation of each US Army unit that had a brigade or higher level unique unit SSI, so that all US Army SSI's can be documented - as ALL US Army units of that size HAVE had more than enough members to be NOTABLE. I have been referencing the US Army Institute of Heraldry as well as the Army Lineage Series and the current .mil websites of units still in service as well as many other sites as possible. I have also become interested in the new units of the Space Force as it continues to grow and evolve as well as it's insignia and heraldry. I am also an advocate for PRIMARY SOURCES, as I am a historian (two degrees) and believe that they can often be the only sources for many subjects - such as military history.
I have lived on or near military bases including Ft. Meade, Maryland, Ft. Hood, Texas, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, Kreuzberg Kaserne Zweibrucken Germany, Wiley Barracks Kaserne Neu Ulm Germany and Flak Kaserne, Ludwigsburg Germany.
My father and uncle were in the US Army in Vietnam and Korea. Another uncle was in the US Air Force. And both my grandfathers were in the US Navy, one before World War II and one during. I have a nephew who was in the US Marine Corps. Due to all these influences, I have always been interested in military insignia.
