The Mauritius kestrel ( Falco punctatus) is a bird of prey from the family Falconidae endemic to the forests of Mauritius, where it is restricted to the southwestern plateau's forests, cliffs, and ravines. It colonized the island and evolved into a distinct species from other Indian Ocean kestrels, probably during the Gelasian or Early Pleistocene periods. The Mauritius kestrel can reach a size between 26 and 30.5 cm (10.2 and 12.0 in), with a mass of up to 250 g (8.8 oz) and rounded wings with a span of approximately 45 cm (18 in). Males are slightly smaller than the females. It is a carnivorous bird, eating geckos, dragonflies, cicadas, cockroaches, crickets, and small birds. It hunts by means of short, swift flights through the forests. This Mauritius kestrel was photographed in the Ebony Forest reserve near Chamarel, Mauritius. Photograph credit: Charles J. Sharp

Why am I here?
|
I'm here because I want to be here. Why else?
My main reason for creating this fabulous user page, and for joining the Wikipedia community is because of school. This year, my AP Biology Class has been assigned the seemingly impossible task of promoting a stub article to good article or (hopefully) featured article status. In groups of three, we will select an article and edit it to improve it's quality.

About Me
|
See userboxes.
Hmm, what can I say about myself? First, what you probably know just from looking at this page, I have a slight knowledge of html, photo editing, and computers in general. You could say technology is an interest of mine, however it is not the only thing I do. I am also very interested in music. I play many instruments, but mainly the horn and piano. I actually enjoy marching band, something not many people can say. I look forward to band everyday, and spend most of my free time working on something related to it. Basically, am the stereotypical "band geek," but I prefer to think of myself as a musically inclined individual.

My Group and Our Topic |
Why We Chose This Topic
|
Hypertrichosis
|
Rationale: We chose this to differ from others in our class. This seems to be a very interesting medical condition, and not much is known about it. There is no recent activity on the article or talk pages. Our group is interested in the field of medicine as well.
