About me

edit

Kia ora,

My name is Anjuli (she/her) and I am a GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives & Museums) professional from Tāmaki Makaurau and the Auckland War Memorial Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira Wikimedian in Residence.

My experiences with Wikipedia started by enhancing the local history pages of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Some of my areas of interest are historic buildings, contemporary artists and curators, New Zealand-migrant of colour figures and women in the arts.

I aim to contribute to the Wikipedia Women in Red Project as well as to celebrate my community through open access knowledge and uplifting underrepresented histories, voices and stories.

I have a background in photography, design, art history (particularly Asian art) and museum studies. I have a particular affinity for Indian Miniature paintings, as they were the subject of my Master's dissertation.

Residency

edit

Auckland War Memorial Museum

In September 2024 I started as the Wikimedian in Residence at Auckland War Memorial Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira. I will continue to work on editing relevant Wikipedia pages to disperse our Museum research and enhance and diversify Auckland local history topics. There will also be a major focus on engagement with the Auckland community, Auckland based GLAMs, national and international Wikipedia community and training Auckland Museum staff. In doing this I will continue to advocate and encourage the use of Wikipedia in the GLAM sector to further grow the Wikimedia community.

I am currently supervising the 2024/25 cohort of Wikipedia summer students, find out more about the programme here.
