Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Please note that this applies to content that you've recently added to Susan Sarandon. Please be most careful to be specifically aware of the WP:1RR restriction. TarnishedPathtalk 09:38, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

I agree with @NatGertler: [1], and am concerned that you added similar content to multiple articles. I think it should be reverted from them all, for the reasons given. --Hipal (talk) 16:53, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

Are there any BLP articles where such content clearly belongs? --Hipal (talk) 17:19, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

Why do you always revert edits on the Pham page?

Ïvana please stop reverting, you are an Argentinian, it has nothing to do with this? Why do you always revert the edited content on this page??? Khanhle29 (talk) 06:27, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

@Khanhle29: My nationality has absolutely nothing to do with the edits I make in Wikipedia and that comment itself can be considered against policy. I edit content based on Wikipedia policies such as this one or this one which I usually cite as a reason for my revert. - Ïvana (talk) 13:40, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
Do you understand what you are reverting? You reverted innocently, you really don't know anything about the thing you reverted, the reasons you gave are not related to the content you reverted. This is an open community and you are making it worse in the eyes of many people. Frustrating Khanhle29 (talk) 11:20, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
I hope you give a more reasonable reason for your revert, I feel you are doing this on purpose. Not only me but also many others without a legitimate reason. I'm very disappointed Khanhle29 (talk) 11:28, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
I already mentioned the relevant policies multiple times. Please get familiarized with Wikipedia before attempting to make edits. Thanks. - Ïvana (talk) 13:42, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

Notable People with the surname Kwak.

Hello Ïvana! It has come to my attention that you have been deleting updates related to Kwak Yeonji from tripleS from the Notable People with the surname Kwak page. I just want to tell you that this is not vandalism! Yeonji joined tripleS in 2023 and has made her debut in the same year with the sub unit EVOLutio. With that i want to ask, why is that you keep deleting her from the page?

Have a good day! Vawlen (talk) 16:49, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

@Vawlen: Hi. Entries included in an anthroponymy article should be limited to notable persons. So if an entry does not meet the notability criteria for its own article in the English Wikipedia then it will be removed. - Ïvana (talk) 17:10, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

WP:1RR at Nuseirat refugee camp massacre

Hi; at topics related to the Israel-Arab conflict, editors are restricted to one revert every 24 hours: An editor must not perform more than one reverts on a single page—whether involving the same or different material—within a 24-hour period. An edit or a series of consecutive edits that undoes or manually reverses other editors' actions—whether in whole or in part—counts as a revert.

In the past 24 hours you have made two reverts:

  1. 17:33, 9 June 2024 (partial revert of 16:31, 9 June 2024)
  2. 13:49, 10 June 2024 (reverted 13:06, 10 June 2024, among others)

Please self-revert 13:49, 10 June 2024. BilledMammal (talk) 15:03, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

@BilledMammal: Sure, thanks, since the page is so active and the first is a partial revert (I didn't consider it one originally) I didn't notice. I'll revert myself for now. - Ïvana (talk) 15:33, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
Thank you; its an easy mistake to make. BilledMammal (talk) 15:35, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

Hey, just had a quick question

I see you've deleted my question in the Nuseriat talk page, why is that? Your source didn't really provide an answer. Thanks. Mr manor11 (talk) 20:06, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

@Mr manor11: Pages like that one are considered a contentious topic and as such are subject to restrictions. You can read more about it in WP:A/I/PIA. - Ïvana (talk) 20:50, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
