Welcome to Wikipedia, Alexander! I hope you find lots to do around here. Do you have a link to the zine article? -- Stephen Gilbert 19:40 Mar 7, 2003 (UTC)
Hi Stephen and thanks for the welcoming :) I am afraid I am a beginner here and I don't quite understand you. Can you explain me what do you mean by « do you have a link to the zine article » ? :)
Hi Webkid. You put on your user page "When I saw a review of wikipaedia in one of our web e-zines...". Stephen is referring to this above. Do you have a link to this e-zine so that it can be added to Wikipedia:Friends_of_Wikipedia/Press_coverage--English or Wikipedia:Friends_of_Wikipedia/Press_coverage--Non-English Mintguy
Oh, now I see. I'll place a link at that Press_coverage--Non-English. :)
No problem - your English is very good, so there wasn't much to do. Jim
Re: you mistaking that Charlie Chaplin was taken from somewhere.
Politeness is valued here, but in this case, there's no need to apologize to the "author" of that Chaplin article, because there's no "one defined author" here in Wiki, only contributors. Don't worry about the mistake! It's great that you took the initiative and tried to warn us on the Wikipedia:Votes for deletion. Don't hesitate to do that again (even if you think you may be wrong). Mistakes are fine here, we accept those because we make them ourselves too. We just don't like intentional "errors" (Internet trolling). --Menchi 23:50 16 Jul 2003 (UTC)
- Oh, thanks for explaining this to me. You were very helpful. :) -- Webkid
About John Barnes in Liverpool FC - if you check Wikipedia:Disambiguation it says that normally the disambiguation page should not be linked - no one looking for information on the soccer player would be interested that there is a science fiction author with the same name. andy 10:24, 2 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right. I'm sorry; I didn't know Wikipedia's policy on disambiguation pages. Believe it or not, I read this page 1-2 minutes ago, and I was about to rv my edit.
Anyway, thank you for stimulating me to read this long Wikipedia:Disambiguation page. :) webkid 11:16, 2 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Webkid- I noticed that you created the article on William Gillette. I was wondering if this is the same guy who invented the modern safety razor. Please see Talk:William Gillette. Do you know where I could find this out? If it's the case, this information should be added to his article. If not, there should be a disambiguation. - DropDeadGorgias (talk) 03:51, Mar 10, 2004 (UTC)

The Humungous Image Tagging Project
editHi. You've helped with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Wiki Syntax, so I thought it worth alerting you to the latest and greatest of Wikipedia fixing project, User:Yann/Untagged Images, which is seeking to put copyright tags on all of the untagged images. There are probably, oh, thirty thousand or so to do (he said, reaching into the air for a large figure). But hey: they're images ... you'll get to see lots of random pretty pictures. That must be better than looking for at at and the the, non? You know you'll love it. best wishes --Tagishsimon (talk)
Article Licensing
editHi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Maps of Bulgaria with a red dot : GFDL, not PD
editHi, note that the template and all the maps I created with a red dot for places in Bulgaria are released with the licence GNU FDL and are not in the public domain (there is a big difference).
If you wish to upload and use them, in order to comply with the GFDL please do add the copyright note saying who is the author (otherwise someone might think it is you), your source (bg.wikipedia) and the template "GFDL". Cheers. --5ko 16:33, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Sources for Huff Daland Dusters
editHello, good work on Huff Daland Dusters, and thanks for the contribution. However, you forgot to add any references to the article. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a push to encourage editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. From what websites, books, or other places did you learn the information that you added to Huff Daland Dusters? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? You can simply add links, or see WP:CITET if you wish to review some of the different citation methods. Thanks! Lupin|talk|popups 20:50, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Greetings, editor! Your name appears on Wikipedia:List of non-admins with high edit counts. If you have not done so lately, please take a look at that page and check your listing to be sure that following the particulars are correct:
- If you are an admin, please remove your name from the list.
- If you are currently interested in being considered for adminship, please be sure your name is in bold; if you are opposed to being considered for adminship, please cross out your name (but do not delete it, as it will automatically be re-added in the next page update).
- Please check to see if you are in the right category for classification by number of edits.

Thanks for your help in clarifying the situation with the chessplayer Georgi Tringov. Is there any possibility that you would have similar information for his colleague Milko Bobotsov? There is a question as to whether he also has died -- one rather unreliable source that I found seems to imply that he has, while other sources say nothing about it. His is a very unfortunate case, whether he's alive or not, but it would be good to have some certainty on him. Thanks for any help ... -- Bill-on-the-Hill 15:52, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
Can we cut down on avoidable confusion?
editOMG, here in Wikipedia there is a Category:Cities by country, a Category:Towns by country and a Category:Municipalities by country. Can't we just get them all put together under Category:Cities and towns by Country? For universities and colleges we already have Category:Universities and colleges by country. It's simple. Cities and towns don't mean the same across the globe, and those complex differences may be good for a lawyer or a diplomat, but NOT FOR AN ENCYCLOPEDIA. Say what?

editThanks for uploading Image:Hristo_Prodanov.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:48, 29 August 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 21:48, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Not classified
editHi! You asked the meaning of "not classified", "not participated" and "did not show" at the 2003 Red Bull Air Race World Series season article.
- Not classified: The pilot was not allowed to take part at the race due to failing to meet the qualification standards. (maybe it should better read as "not qualified")
- Not participated: The pilot was not an official race member yet.
- Did not show: The pilot did not come to the race or did not start at the race.
I hope these are explanatory. CeeGee (talk) 19:59, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
The article Paronym has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This is just a dictionary definition with a few examples. See Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a dictionary.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JamesBWatson (talk) 15:30, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
