"Image:Split Screen in Pac Man.gif"

edit

Hello 008, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Split Screen in Pac Man.gif) was found at the following location: User:008. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 19:45, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Heck. I assumed that simply because it was uploaded and being used somewhere on Wikipedia, I could use it too. Dang. (I know this is a "bot")

Inter-friend userpage vandalism

edit

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to User:Militant-54. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. --Jens Nielsen 18:29, 8 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

This raises an important philosophical question. Is it alright to vandalise the user-page of a friend, even if it's hilarious? PROBABLY NOT. I'm not a vandal; I hope this thing doesn't stick. I'll keep it up for the hell of it. --008 22:57, 8 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ok, but friend or not, such contributions are not helpful to the wikipedia. Adding nonsense to wikipedia, if repeated, will result in more warnings and eventually in a ban. Do your best to improve the wikipedia with serious content, and all will be happy. --Jens Nielsen 10:15, 9 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

A'ight, thanks to Merovingian for that. I would like to upload photos for each individual member of Incubus on their respective pages, but there are so damn many rules. Almost makes me want to become an anarchist. For instance, I wanted to upload a photo of Jose, but after a little look around on the image copyright tags page's discussion page, I see that Sony music wouldn't like that very much. Have I got it wrong? Is it all really so strict?

At first, it seems that way, but there are a number of exceptions. It all depends on the kind of photo it is. If it's a promotional photo, you can use the {{promophoto}} tag in the image description field when you upload it. I'll be happy to help you out further, if you require assistance. --Merovingian (t) (c) 14:17, September 5, 2005 (UTC)
I know that much... you may have noticed that I recently updated the photo on the main Incubus page with that very tag. But I'm not sure if the one I wanted to use for Jose counts as a promo-photo. It's here: [1] --008 19:15, 5 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
I would say that any of those images would either fit under {{promophoto}} or {{musicpromo-screenshot}}, depending on where the image comes from. --Merovingian (t) (c) 19:25, September 5, 2005 (UTC)
Cool, thanks man. --008 19:35, 5 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
You're very welcome; best of luck! --Merovingian (t) (c) 19:39, September 5, 2005 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:IncubusJose1.jpg

edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:IncubusJose1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 00:12, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate Image:Bad~1.PNG

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Bad~1.PNG, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Bad~1.PNG is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Bad~1.PNG, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself.
