In general, exclamation points, promotional text and the phrase "and much more" should never appear in a Wikipedia article. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 06:30, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Copyrighted material

edit

Hello 2013avinash1989, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your addition to Mumbai Women's International Film Festival has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 06:30, 1 July 2013 (UTC) Thank you.Reply

Removing Speedy at Mumbai Women's International Film Festival

edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for taking the time to contribute.

I'm a bot designed by another Wikipedia editor, and I'm here to help you with our deletion process. I noticed that while working on an article recently, you removed a speedy deletion template that tagged it for deletion. Don't get discouraged! Deletion discussions happen on Wikipedia all the time.

If you don't want the article to get deleted, please click here.

The link will take you to the talk page, where you can explain why the article should be kept. If you have any questions about this or need help with editing, you can ask at the Help desk.

We really hope you'll stick around to help make Wikipedia better! Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 11:45, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Mumbai Women's International Film Festival. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 12:02, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is your last warning. The next time you remove a speedy deletion notice from a page you have created yourself, as you did at Mumbai Women's International Film Festival, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 12:06, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

An administrator should assess the report in a short while, and they will take any appropriate actions. Please wait for an administrator before taking any further actions yourself. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for using Wikipedia only for promotion or advertising, and other disruptive editing. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.  JamesBWatson (talk) 13:28, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have just seen your comments on the talk page of the article you created. Contrary to what many people think, "promotion" does not have to be promotion for profit. Any article that seeks to encourage its readers to think that its subject is good or worthwhile is promotional. As for your claim that the material you used did not breach copyright, I found that you used a large quantity of text verbatim from http://www.zoominfo.com/#!search/profile/company?companyId=357095838&targetid=profile which page says"Copyright © 2013 Zoom Information, Inc. All rights reserved." However, whether or not you thought that the reasons for nominating the article for deletion were valid, four times you received messages on this page telling you that removing the speedy deletion tag was not the way to contest the deletion, but you kept on doing so. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:27, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

The article Mumbai Women's International Film Festival-MWIFF has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Overly promotional. Mumbai Women's International Film Festival already exists. Perhaps some of this could be added to Mumbai Women's International Film Festival, but with caution.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
