Controversial topic area alert

edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in Eastern Europe or the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Your signature

edit

Hi there. Would you mind toning down your signature? While it's perfectly acceptable to customize it, signatures are supposed to help identify other people in discussions and yours makes it very hard to do so because I cannot read it without selecting the text to remove the background. Of course, per WP:SIGAPP you should use a signature that can easily be read by visually impaired editors anyway. Thanks in advance. Regards SoWhy 13:59, 4 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

I made some changes that should improve contrast going forward. :) 🌈  4🧚‍♂am KING 👑  14:16, 4 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately most of your signature is still completely unreadable. I'm not visually impaired, but while I can (mostly) make out the "king" part, the remainder is unreadable. Thryduulf (talk) 00:19, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
swapped in darker colours for the background, hopefully it good now. 🌈  4🧚‍♂am KING 👑  02:18, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
A slight improvement but not to the point of easy readability. There are tools that can help you work out which colour combinations are accessible and whic aren't, some are linked from note 4 at WP:SIGAPP but there are others (iirc. Redrose64 and TAnthony both have more experience of this than me). Thryduulf (talk) 08:53, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
I bolded the whole thing (as much as I wanted to avoid that); and darkened the yellow which since its the main offender, but I want to maintain the spectrum as much as possible. the rest of the colours have a contrast ratio above 4 and the way the text is structured within the signature, its mostly on the green and blue background (which has a contrast ratio of 5.13 and 8.59 respectively to the white). 🌈  4🧚‍♂am KING 👑  11:42, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I would like to also note that I find your signature distracting. I request that you at least remove the background. There's an essay on this topic at WP:Don't use a billboard signature. Thank you. Enterprisey (talk!) 04:39, 7 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Changing "Turkey" to "Türkiye"

edit

Hi! You changed the name "Turkey" to "Türkiye" in a recent edit. Although "Türkiye" is now the officially-sanctioned English-language name for Turkey, it is not yet the WP:COMMONNAME for that country, and changing "Turkey" to "Türkiye" goes against the WP:COMMONNAME policy. Could you please avoid making that change again? — — The Anome (talk) 07:57, 12 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
