editHello, I'm The1337gamer. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Sonic the Hedgehog (1991 video game), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Please note that the verifiability policy mandates that unsourced material that has been challenged, such as by a "fact" tag, or by its removal, may not be added back without a reliable, published source being cited for the content, using an inline citation. The cited source must clearly support the material as presented in the article, and the burden is on the person wishing to keep in the disputed material. So if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so, following these requirements! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Request reason:
This IP address is for an entire Library system with tens of thousands of marginalized users - by blocking one user of our system, you have for nearly an entire year blocked tens of thousands of economically marginalized minority users without a personal computer - Request that this IP address be unblocked as soon as possible - Thank you! 64.26.97.60 (talk) 18:11, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
Decline reason:
In order to be unblocked, you have to provide convincing evidence the vandalism will not recur. But don't worry, nobody is prevented from editing. They just need to sign in with an account. If they don't have an account, one may be created for them via WP:ACC, as indicated at the top of this page. Yamla (talk) 18:22, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
64.26.97.60 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Thank you for your quick note and unfortunate denial of our unblock request - What you request is impossible to enforce (or even inform our users) for an entire library system with thousands of daily users across the county - it also seems to be in violation of Wikipedia:Blocking policy, paragraph 2: "Blocks are used to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, not to punish users" - If one of our users (and from the block history it appears that it was one of our users) was causing "damage or disruption to Wikipedia", then the blocking punishment affected several thousand other users, many of whom may not have the means to register or even have an email to register with - this is a very marginalized community and we've just found out today that our entire library system had been blocked for over a year - I don't know how to proceed further with this issue, but if you are able to discuss this over the phone to resolve it, please call us - let me know and I will post the local library number here 64.26.97.60 (talk) 18:35, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
Accept reason:
The block would expire in a couple weeks anyway, so I'm releasing it now. However, the moment we see the same behavior happening, we'll have to reblock. It does seem to be precisely one person causing trouble for everyone. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 19:20, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
Thank you! We have no way to monitor this - but hopefully that user went away over the last year! --64.26.97.60 (talk) 19:27, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
- Whoever it is has been doing it since 2017. What the person has been doing is adding information to articles, specifically exact dates, without providing any sources for that information. It's frustrating; for all we know, the information might be accurate, and if so, why not provide the sources? --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 22:32, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Editing by unregistered users from your shared IP address or address range may be currently disabled due to abuse. However, you are still able to edit if you sign in with an account. If you are currently blocked from creating an account, and cannot create one elsewhere in the foreseeable future, you may follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Request an account to request that volunteers create your username for you. Please use an email address issued to you by your ISP, school or organization so that we may verify that you are a legitimate user on this network. Please reference this block in the comment section of the form.
Please check on this list that the username you choose has not already been taken. We apologize for any inconvenience. -- ferret (talk) 19:33, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
