Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at James Barry (surgeon). Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. See the WP:CONSENSUS arrived on the talk page. Peaceray (talk) 16:25, 19 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

i did post about this on your talk page as you very well know. would you care to explain why you didn't bother discussing the matter with me before reverting the article to something that violates wikipedia guidelines and is transphobic besides? 65.92.127.4 (talk) 16:36, 19 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
As I stated on my talk page, by removing this Wikitext, you must have full well known that you were violating WP:CONSENSUS:

<!-- NOTE: Due to the circumstances of Barry's life, this article avoids the use of gendered pronouns (see Talk page).

This article refers to Barry as "Barry" wherever possible, avoiding specifically male or female third person pronouns.-->

You have not indicated in the edit summary why you made your changes or why you removed Wikitext.
I believe that lobbing the term transphobic to border on being a slur. Peaceray (talk) 18:16, 19 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
accurate description of your behaviour is not a slur 65.92.127.4 (talk) 18:18, 19 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please explain how my edits demonstrate a fear or hatred of trangendered people. Peaceray (talk) 18:20, 19 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
you reverted the article in order to erase James Barrys gender, something that expresses contempt for James Barry in particular and transgender people in general. this is very much within the definition of transphobia. 65.92.127.4 (talk) 18:23, 19 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
You an I have a disagreement over whether my editing constitutes hatred or fear of transgender and transsexual people as defined by wiktionary:transphobia. Sorry, but I do not accept you as an arbiter of my editing, especially when I edit within the consensus achieved at Talk:James_Barry_(surgeon)/Archive_1. If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on James Barry (surgeon). This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Peaceray (talk) 16:50, 19 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

This is your only warning; if you remove or blank page contents or templates from Wikipedia again, as you did at James Barry (surgeon), you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Peaceray (talk) 16:50, 19 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I made a correction to make the article comply with wikipedia guidelines on gendering transgender persons and a transphobe started an edit war to keep the transphobic material in the article. why is the bigot not banned? 65.92.127.4 (talk) 05:48, 30 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
IP, you need to stop making personal attacks right now or I'll remove talk page access. Right now the only thing you should be doing on your talk page is trying to understand how your edits broke Wikipedia rules. If you continue to call anyone who disagrees with you on how to handle pronouns at James Barry a transphobic bigot, your talk page access will be removed until the block expires.
FWIW, at James Barry, there has been significant discussion of how to handle his pronouns. You can read a lot about that question on the talk page at James Barry (surgeon). There is no motivation of bigotry or transphobia by any editor you were reverting. There are quite likely multiple people here discussing this with you or at that article who agree with your opinion on what pronouns to use, but Wikipedia works by consensus, and current consensus is to avoid pronouns at that article. If you get unblocked, you may make your arguments to try to change consensus at that talk page.
Please don't while blocked make further arguments about Barry's pronouns. Please instead realize that to get unblocked, what you need to do is convince us you understand that Wikipedia policy is guided by consensus and that even if you disagree with current consensus at a particular article, even if you believe it is against general policy, you will not edit war and you will not make personal attacks on those who are reverting your edits-against-consensus.
