Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

Someone using this IP address, 68.194.224.242, has made unconstructive edits to the page Template:Part of History of India, which have been reverted. If you did this, in the future please try to contribute in a more constructive manner. If you'd like to experiment with the syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles. If you did not do this, you may wish to consider getting a username to avoid confusion with other editors.

You don't have to log in to read or edit pages on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free, requires no personal information, and has many benefits. Without a username, your IP address is used to identify you.

Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Kautilya3 (talk) 12:23, 21 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Karkoṭa Empire, but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Kautilya3 (talk) 20:01, 17 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks for adding some citations. However, as a rule, you should never use plain URL's as citations. They look ugly and unprofessional. You can use the citation tool at http://reftag.appspot.com/ to generate citations. (I was really complaining about your use of words like "Hindu power". Such value-laden labels can only be used if they are found in authentic scholarly sources.) Cheers, Kautilya3 (talk) 20:55, 17 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at History of Hinduism. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a loss of editing privileges. Thank you. How are you an editor and not know basic grammar, spacing errors and spelling. You seriously do not see any spelling error? example (North-Eatern); please use spell check:

"In the century from 1760 to 1860, India was once more divided into numerous petty and unstable kingdoms - most of them being subjects of the British Empire: the "lesser Mughals" following Bahadur Shah I; the Kingdom of Mysore; Hyderabad State;Maratha states;Rajput states,Polygar states,North-Eatern states,Himalayan states....and so on as well as the territories held by the British East India Company. From 1799 to 1849 the only major stable and independent empire in India was the non Hindu Sikh Empire although it had a secular character with a large number of Hindu and Muslim subjects living in peace. The Sikh Empire, unlike the other lesser Indian kingdoms and states was not under the paramountcy of the British Raj. The entire subcontinent fell under British rule (partly indirectly, via Princely states) following the Indian Rebellion of 1857."

Your edit did a lot more than to correct spelling and grammar. I have specifically asked you to discuss the changes on the talk page, but you chose to edit-war instead. You have been already informed of the ARBIPA discretionary sanctions. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 15:49, 3 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

"The first Anglo-Sikh war and second Anglo-Sikh war marked the downfall of the Sikh Empire; making it among the last areas of the Indian subcontinent to be conquered by the British." - This is the only new part I added to improve the flow of the paragraph. I don't see anything wrong with it, however, if you don't like it, remove it. Why did you revert the spelling and grammar? If you don't agree with a certain part, remove that. I have no issue with it. (68.194.224.242 (talk) 15:52, 3 September 2016 (UTC))Reply

Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the page History of Hinduism has an edit summary that appears to be inaccurate or inappropriate. Please use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did, and feel free to use the sandbox for any tests you may want to do. you described a major change of content as "major clean up of grammar, spelling, sentence structure" - which clearly was not the case. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on History of Hinduism. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Kautilya3 (talk) 17:00, 8 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

One more reinstatement of material without consensus and you will be blocked. --regentspark (comment) 19:42, 8 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
