Request reason:
Hi all,
I am trying to edit w/ interest on Chabad-Lubavitch and related Wikipedia entries. Unfortunately, it seems I've been blocked for something someone else did. The talk page above says this is a dynamic IP - I would imagine that an agitator of some sort has been causing some issues - unfortunately preventing everyone else who wants to be productive from using this address properly.
I'm not overtly familiar with Wikipedia - I don't exactly know what a CU block is - I have used it for a quick source of info often, though this is the first time I've attempted to edit.
Would appreciate guidance whenever someone who can help is available. For instance, can I identify problems in an entry using this page to show I am productive, or does this violate a particular rule?
NYR - Thanks,
Moshe

Hi all,
Just returning here to enquire w/ regards to how the process at Wikipedia:Request an account is going - I'm aware it states it can take up to 2 to 3 days in the entry - but I would assume I would be permitted to enquire about the progress of my request. What particular stage, if any, is the request in? I believe my alternative email is attached to the request - if that is of any use to anyone.
Apologies if my message comes off as slightly demanding - I can assure you all it is not my intention. I'm looking forward to adding my part and contributing to Wikipedia!
NYR - With regards,
Moshe

- I don't think your message "comes off as slightly demanding"; I have 100% sympathy with anyone forced to wait because of a block which is not their fault. However, it isn't possible for an ordinary Wikipedia editor, or even an administrator, to see on Wikipedia how an account request is progressing. There may be a way of asking the people who deal with account requests how your request is getting on, but I think you will very probably just have to wait. However, I am leaving your request open in case someone with more knowledge of how the system works can give you a better answer. JBW (talk) 19:58, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
- Please reply to your last email you received from the account creation system, this will go to the volunteers that deal with it and will make it easier to find your request - RichT|C|E-Mail 01:09, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Rich
- Appreciate your help. Had to create an account via an unlocked IP address instead. Hope that's alright. Looking forward to productive contributions.
- Thanks

Blocked
editIf you are not the intended target of this block, please read the information below in order to receive assistance.
IP users (without an account): If you do not have an account and wish to bypass this block, an account can be created to allow you to edit. In general, these blocks only prevent users who are not logged in from editing; once you are logged in, the block will no longer affect you in any way. To request an account, simply click here and follow the directions provided on the page. It is important that you use an e-mail address issued to you by your ISP, school, or organisation, so we may verify that you are a legitimate user. When filling out the account request form, please refer to this block in the "comments" input field. If you've been instructed to request an account via email, please refer to this block in your message.
Registered users (with an account): Please make sure you are logged in to your account. If you are unable to edit while logged in, you may request IP block exemption to bypass blocks unconnected with you that affect your editing. Post an unblock request to your user talk page.Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
