Welcome!
Hello, AaronRoe, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

- Tutorial
- How to write a great article

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! Thank you for your contributions to Minnesota articles, especially the very nice images. It's really great that you gave the source for those images, letting us know you took them yourself. One note: when a Wikipedian contributes an image, the Wikipedia convention is to leave that on the image page itself, but not on the caption in the articles. Readers can click on the picture to see what the source was. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me here or on my talk page. Again, from a fellow Minnesotan, welcome. AaronRoe: Thanks for the heads up Jonathan.
Tettegouche
editThanks for the pics on Tettegouche State Park, I have been putting that article together and looking for some good pics for a few weeks now.
Pics
editHey thanks for the enthusiasm with the pictures, but please try and limit the pictures to ones that are specific to the article. Here are some guidelines: Wikipedia:Image_use_policy. Wikipedia usually has one or two pictures per paragraph. If you think that there are a bunch of relevant pictures you can add a gallery like at the bottom of Teatro_Nacional_de_Costa_Rica. I am going to thin the pics on Split_Rock_Lighthouse_State_Park, Tettegouche_State_Park, Snowbank_Trail, Interstate_State_Park and change the List_of_Minnesota_state_parks to have pictures of features of state parks rather than plants and animals. (some of them would be great in the botany articles!) Also please add at least a sentance when creating an article. All pages that get created should also have categories added to them (such as the Kekekabic_Trail and Snowbank_Trail articles). Please don't let this temper your entusiasm for Wikipedia, we just need to make sure things get done right. Thanks again for the great pics they really help spruce up the articles! -Ravedave 02:41, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
Aaron: I think the trail marker picture in Trail should be moved over to to trail blazing, where it would make more sense. As it is it is supported by almost nothing in the accompanying text. Daniel Case 03:08, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:ShorviewMN.JPG
editThanks for uploading Image:ShorviewMN.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. — Rebelguys2 talk 17:16, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Shoreview parks.jpg
editThis media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Shoreview parks.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. — Rebelguys2 talk 17:17, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Norm Coleman Pictures
editBravo about the Coleman pictures, I really mean what I said that those are wonderful for anyone wanting to learn about the man. Where'd you get them, if you don't mind me asking? Any chance of a caption under the banner hanging one in that yearbook? DanielM 23:46, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
WikiProject Minnesota
editI don't know if you've seen this yet, but there's a WikiProject for Minnesota articles now. It's at Wikipedia:WikiProject Minnesota (hence the snappy name), and I think you'd make a great contributor to it. I checked out some of your pictures at Banning State Park and the kayaking looks pretty wild there. If you have other pictures to add to articles, or new ideas for articles, check out the project! --Elkman 03:27, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

MindTouch
editI didn't say it was MindTouch doing the advertising, and I didn't mean it as a criticism of you or the company. I said it sounded like an ad, and it does. However, you have a point in that it would be better for me to just fix the page's tone myself, which I'll now do. If you have suggestions, please feel free to contribute on the talk page. As for DekiWiki, I didn't have anything to do with its deletion. It certainly doesn't sound like a speedy candidate. Have you tried Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion? Be clear that you're representing the company, and make clear arguments for verifiability and notability (e.g. the WSJ article mentioned). Superm401 - Talk 07:30, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- I would recommend against creating or modifying either DekiWiki or MindTouch. As you say, the software is rapidly gaining in prominence, and eventually people outside of MindTouch will probably create DekiWiki and work on both pages. If you really object to the MindTouch page, you can propose it for deletion. Also, I have modified the MindTouch page so it doesn't read as a an add, and thus the template has been removed. Superm401 - Talk 07:53, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. Now you see why I tagged it? That way if I never got around to fixing it, someone else might. Superm401 - Talk 08:00, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
editHello AaronRoe! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 4 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. editHi, This image was seemingly uploaded prior to current image polices, Thank you.
However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm, that it was your own work, by marking it as {{own}}, amending the {{information}} added by a third party, and by changing the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes
to the {{Media by uploader}} or {{Presumed self}} tag(s) if present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).
IF you have other uploads, please consider "claiming" them in a similar manner, You can find a list of files you have created here.

editHi, This media was seemingly uploaded prior to current image polices,
However, due to changes in the copyright situation in some jurisdictions, there is a need to ensure media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed. It would be appreciated if you were able to confirm that it was your own work, by marking it as {{own}}, Fully completeing the {{information}} block, and leaving an acknowledgement on the file description page to indicate that you've accepted the license shown (and updated the {{information}} accordingly. If you have other uploads, please consider "claiming" them in a similar manner, You can find a list of files you have created here.
If you don't want to keep your media on English Wikipedia, please nominate it for deletion under Criteria G7 of the Criteria for Speedy deletion ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 13:47, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
The file File:PikePlace1 arf.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Orphaned, low quality (blurry) image of a popular destination. It should not be difficult to find or create better replacement images, if it hasn't already been done.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ★ Bigr Tex 00:39, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
