Notability of Marc Slutsky

A tag has been placed on Marc Slutsky requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Deletion of Marc Slutsky article

The reason the contents of the article were deleted and a redirect to Splender was created,was that the consensus of the discussion was there wasn't enough evidence via independent and 3rd party sources of Mr Slutsky's notability (which isn't the same thing as being well known, highly regarded or famous). For articles on people to be able to be included in Wikipedia they have to meet certain criteria. As Mr Slutsky is a musician the relevant criteria is set down in WP:BIO and WP:BAND. It was never a question of him not "being worthy of a page", merely that he didn't meet the guidelines. There is every likelihood that there are other articles that don't demonstrate notability either but the article at WP:WAX demonstrates that this isn't an valid argument to keep the article. You are perfectly entitled to mark any articles for deletion you see that don't meet the criteria, likewise you are perfectly entitled to recreate the Slutsky article. But if you do please know that you will have to demonstrate (via independent, non-trivial and reliable sources) his notability based on the previous guidelines I pointed you at. If you don't demonstrate it then it's very likely that the article would be deleted again. Another article worth reading to give you an idea of what is required is WP:N. Splender/Slutsky

Splender, from the way I see in the article doesn't appear to have had significant hits nor album sales (there is no information on that in the two CD articles which makes it susceptible at any time for an Afd nomination or for a merger request. Also, even their frontman (the main individual of a band) doesn't seem to be notable enough for an article so that makes the drummer, gutiast or other member generally less notable and on several occasions, the members info are in the main band's article. And also there were no sources to assert the notability of Slutsky and their no sources for the band itself. Maybe if you can find several and various sources about the individual about his career, background, or other things. maybe their could be a solid article about him. Although, maybe it should be better, since they don't seem to be as famous as the Gin Blossoms, to have the members informations in the Splender article for now including Slutsky.

For Chris McCann, I would be neutral (thus not nominating it for an Afd), but other then being among the former members of Gin Blossoms, I see little notability, although probably since the band had several hits in the national and world charts and thus the high level of notability, maybe that's why an article about him exist - although it would need to be expanded significantly.

Hello – thanks for the message. JForget said exactly what I was going to say. The criteria at WP:MUSIC are clear and this article did not meet them. It needed verifiable sources, such as magazine articles, books, and newspaper stories, to support its claims of notability. Also, it wasn't written in the neutral tone of an encyclopedia article, which is the reason it caught my attention the particular day it did.

As for Chris McCann and articles on other musicians of questionable notability, you're free to nominate any or all of them for deletion yourself, if you compare any of them to WP:MUSIC and if you believe they fall short. I'm neutral on all of these article. However, the inclusion of one article isn't a good reason to include this one.

You seem like you have a lot to offer, and I hope you don't take this personally, because it's not personal at all. I know WikiProject Musicians and WikiProject Music would certainly gain from your input and capability. If and when Slutsky's career meets the notability requirements for musicians, he absolutely should have an article. redirect to Splender

I have found an article in Modern Drummer that was written about Mr. Slutsky. http://www.marcslutsky.com/mdArticle03SM.jpg It is a link on his website. Is this acceptable? I also found his television appearances, with dates. He is also searchable on AOL video (a site referenced on Ben Jelen's Wikipedia page that wasnt contested so Im assuming its a valid external link) How long do I have to wait until I can recreate a page on this drummer? references coming from a subject's own website are not deemed to be independent I'm afraid. The other references you refer to just demonstrate that he exists, not that he's notable I'm afraid.
