Ways to improve Hazrat khuwaja Muhammad zaman luari sharif

Hi, I'm Phill24th. Ubed junejo, thanks for creating Hazrat khuwaja Muhammad zaman luari sharif!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The article Hazrat khuwaja Muhammad zaman luari sharif which you created needs help in the style it has been written in, you can also help Wikipedia by improving it. That is, after you read the Wikipedia guidelines I've posted on your talk page.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Phill24th (talk) 19:18, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

I've done some editing in means of style, formatting, and reference sorting. But you must rewrite some parts of the article so it wouldn't look like a personal essay rather then an encyclopedic material. Also, please include inline sources, as well as improving the sources that might be considered unreliable. I would also recommend deleting the material that could not be sourced. Everything else you need to know you can address at the Wikipedia Teahouse or my talk page. Thank you for your cooperation. Phill24th (talk) 21:13, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

Lots of thanks for improving the article. Yes I have added some inline citations.

Your recent edits

  Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 12:23, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Your referencing style

Hi, Ubed junejo (talk · contribs), I just wanted to let you know that you aren't doing a very good job with the citation style you're using. Referencing may look daunting, but it's easy enough to do. Here's a guide to getting started. References are important to validate your writing and inform the reader. Any editor can remove unreferenced material, and unsubstantiated articles may end up getting deleted, so when you add something to an article, it's advisable to also include a reference to say from where it came. If you need any assistance, let me know.

Please use these methods in the future, thank you - Phill24th (talk) 13:00, 5 May 2014 (UTC).

I have done it the same way already. Are you talking about yesterday?--Ubed junejo (talk) 13:37, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

No. You should think about using templates like {{Citation}} or {{Cite web}}, so it would be clearer where the ref links will take you. Try it out, Phill24th (talk) 14:12, 5 May 2014 (UTC).

I have posted original text of sources and its English translation on your talk page. Kindly do it for me. Speedy deletion declined: 1139 in Norway

Hello Ubed junejo. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of 1139 in Norway, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not nonsense - there is meaningful content. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 00:50, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

DearUser:Malik Shabazz: Did you visit the Talk page? The content included in the article does not deserve a new article. article is too short and its content should be included in article on Norwegian history. Regards --Ubed junejo (talk) 00:55, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Please read WP:G1. The only articles that may be deleted under that criterion for speedy deletion are patent nonsense, not articles you don't deem worthy of inclusion. Try WP:PROD or WP:AfD instead of WP:CSD. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 01:02, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Aayal Tunia

Hello Ubed junejo. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Aayal Tunia, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 00:51, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Abad, Kandiaro Taluka

Hello Ubed junejo. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Abad, Kandiaro Taluka, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 00:52, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello. My brother User:Malik Shabazz I am from the geographical region the article belongs to. A very small village of 1 few hundred population is not important to have an article dedicated to it. Does it make sense that I creat an article for my street for example? --Ubed junejo (talk) 00:59, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Please read WP:A1. The only articles that may be deleted under that criterion for speedy deletion are those that lack sufficient context to identify the subject, not articles you don't deem worthy of inclusion. Try WP:PROD or WP:AfD instead of WP:CSD. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 01:05, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Yes thank you for guidance. But whatsoever, the topic is not worhty of inclusion and it fact. this way or that way bro.--Ubed junejo (talk) 01:07, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined

I have also declined several WP:A1 deletions on Pakistan villages that clearly do not meet the criteria. Please familiarise yourself with the guideline. If you wish to pursue deletion then WP:AFD is the way to go but you should note that clearly defined inhabited settlements are generally kept irrespective of size or importance. TerriersFan (talk) 01:01, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Thank you dear TerriersFan for guidance. Could you please explain what is meant by clearly defined inhabited settlement?
Kind regards--Ubed junejo (talk) 01:14, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi, the guideline is available at WP:GEOLAND. TerriersFan (talk) 01:18, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
Dear TerriersFan Kindly refer to Notability is not temporary and Article content does not determine notability. No source, not discussed outside wikipedia, not historically important place. Even then you want it included on wikipedia, thats great. I will consider creating an article on play ground near my house,hope you will love it--Ubed junejo (talk) 01:41, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
Speedy deletions are deletions without process and therefore the criteria must be strictly met. I have not stated that I wish any of these villages to be included in Wikipedia; indeed I have no view on that. As advised, if you consider that they do not meet WP:GEOLAND and you wish to pursue deletion then WP:AFD is the route. TerriersFan (talk) 01:57, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for informing me. This material was previously deleted by somebody without mention of any reason(including copy right violation issue as well), so I found it suitable to restore it with some modification. If you think it is copyright violation, then it is okay. Thanks.--Ubed junejo (talk) 21:17, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

I don't just think it is a copyright violation, it is a copyright violation, since the material is copied from http://panhwar.com. And judging by previous messages on your talk page it's not the first time something like this happens. Thomas.W talk 21:22, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
Thomas.W can you please tell me when it hsppened previously?--Ubed junejo (talk) 21:27, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
There's a warning for a copyrighted image a bit up this page. Thomas.W talk 21:31, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
Dear Thomas.W Yes but it is NOT really copyright violation as the image I used did not have any any copyrights as it was a very old image and is can be found on several book covers related to the subject and on several websites. Wikipedia's copyright violation rules simply do not apply to the image.--Ubed junejo (talk) 21:36, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
Oh yes, they do. An image isn't free just because it has been used on book covers and on other websites. Which has very little to do with this matter, though. Thomas.W talk 22:05, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
if you wish I can show you similar images on Wikipedia, that are allowed--Ubed junejo (talk) 22:18, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Ahmad, I'm so sorry, I'm partially to blame for this screw-up ... we can't run Messier 87 tomorrow because it's Nelson Mandela's 100th birthday, and that had been on the schedule for a year. Jim put this article on the schedule instead, almost certainly, because there was a mistake on Nelson Mandela's talk page, saying that that article had already run. Would you like for this article to run next month? Please let us know ... Ealdgyth will be scheduling the August TFAs soon. Earth as astronomical object

The Earth certainly is an astronomical object. Not only has it been known to be a planet since antiquity, but it can also be seen quite clearly in astronomical photographs taken from vehicles on Mars and in deep space: see, for example, the Pale Blue Dot. -- The Anome (talk) 12:57, 11 December 2018 (UTC)

@The Anome: Thanks for your message. Well in a narrow sense yes. But generally, from Earth based perspective "astronomical" means beyond Earth so Earth is not an astronomical object. If I take your strict definition, then Geology, Geography, Anthropology and many Earth specific disciplines would be sub-fields of astronomy.AhmadLX (talk) 13:45, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
Yes, and it's that narrow sense that is what is at issue here. I've opened a discussion on this matter at Talk:Earth#"Astronomical_object". I agree that it makes no sense to re-categorize Earth-specific disciplines as sub-fields of astronomy; this goes against WP:COMMONNAME in any case. -- The Anome (talk) 11:43, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Brock Lesnar's weight

PPV that I used as a source is not good source. But WWE.com should have updated its information for Lesnar's weight. It's easy to see that he have lost weight recently. This is because he is going to fight on UFC with 265 pounds weight limit. But when it was said that Lesnar weighs 500 pounds? He clearly weighs now around 265 pounds. Zulrah —Preceding undated comment added 23:27, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

He didn't say he was 500 lbs;) It was just to show that what you say or what I say is no authority by itself. Plz check WP:Reliable sources. Thanks. AhmadLX (talk) 00:54, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

I did not invent it myself that Lesnar weighs now 265 pounds. That source which I used was a PPV event that was held recently, that you can check in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13gFK3y4aIc In about 8:50-9:00 Paul Heyman says Brock Lesnar weighs 265 pounds. But PPV event is not good source. Lesnar has lost weight recently for fighting in the UFC with 265 pounds weight limit. We need now to wait for wwe.com to update Lesnar's weight and then use it as a source for this new weight. Zulrah —Preceding undated comment added 03:38, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Twofingered Typist (talk) 22:08, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi @Twofingered Typist:. Thank you for your diligence and meticulous effort in copy-editing the article. I have a couple concerns: first, shouldn't it be allegations levelled against him instead of allegations leveled against him? Secondly, Mukhtar-namas, elaborating the life and movements of Mukhtar gives me an impression of physical movement :D AhmadLX (talk) 22:20, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
Leveled is the American spelling - either is correct. If you change it to levelled you should add the tag to the top of the article where the date tag is. The phrase "life and movement" I assume is meant to indicate it is about his life and his movements - where he traveled. So it is correct in this sense. Twofingered Typist (talk) 22:29, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
@Twofingered Typist:, okay. By movement I had originally meant "his revolt", I will change it then. Thank you very much again, much appreciated. Regards. AhmadLX (talk) 22:35, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

Regarding Yazid 1

Hi

I am a Sunni from Pakistan and I added material to Yazid 1 after some research which you quite cunningly and silently removed under the pretext of copy paste from this and that. I have only 1 question, how much do you get paid by Yazid 1 and his father in this time and age? It must be quite a sum as you even removed clearly accepted facts of Husayn Ibn Ali's RA life for these two characters.

And yes I am a Sunni and please read Sunni books before using or removing such material. Infact I would also encourage you to read some Shia books as Bukhari uses Shia sources as well so not all Shia sources are wrong.~

@Dr Pukhtunyar Afghan: First of all, you might want to learn something about WP:Civil before leaving a message on someone's talk page. You added material on Yazid I in two phases. One is this, added in 2014 which was based on facebook and was not removed by me. Second is this. In this case, I did remove some of your additions and reason is given in edit summary. You mentioned "Oath by Ibn Abbas" in section on "Husayn uprising", where it did not belong. It should have been added in section "Oath of allegiance", where all such info is summarized. Go and check my eddit summary: rmv irrelevant info from this section. will add later in a reasonable place. Other stuff that you allege, was not added by you. It was added by somebody else and was reproduced word by word from Tabari volume 19. Go and check it before replying here. Secondly, if you are Sunni, does it add any weight to your position? You be Sunni/Shia/Ahmadi or whatever you like. Don't tell me that. Arguments count here, beliefs don't.AhmadLX (talk) 17:12, 7 February 2019 (UTC)

FAC

I think its probably ok at this stage, given the article is clearly FAC standard and doesn't need heavy lifting, to tap regular reviewers for input. However, given your account has a relatively low edit count and two FAC noms to its name, for credibility sake you might get mileage and bank goodwill if you participated in a few reviews there yourself. Ceoil (talk) 23:50, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

@Ceoil: Hi, thanks for the message. You are right. I also thought to do some reviewing, but I was hesitant as I have little experience with FAC reviews. I will try to do some source checks. I think asking Casliber and Jimfbleak for review of my nom won't be a bad idea ;) AhmadLX (talk) 03:32, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi there, For your kind information i only added Muhammad al-Tijani 's books. I think there is not any my point of view or my personal analysis on this. You warn me and that is your problem. I think you should more improve yourself and collect more information on this policy. Sharief123 (talk) 09:30, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

@Sharief123: Hello. So in your opinion "A true story about how the light of truth was ignited in his heart" and "Every sincere Muslim is invited to read this book attentively..." are not the examples of your opinion or analysis. Cool. But in view of Wikipedia policies they are "your opinions" and "analysis", and are not allowed. This is not the first time you have done this. Your editing activity is largely limited to adding unsourced info, adding personal opinions & analysis and adding unacceptable sources like facebook and youtube to articles on religious scholars. You have been informed, then cautioned and then warned about these issue previously by several editors, bu you don't seem to care. If this continues, you may be reported.AhmadLX (talk) 16:38, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

If you use a source already defined in the artilce, use <ref name="whatever the defined name is"/>. AhmadLX-)¯\_(ツ)_/¯) 15:10, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
Ah, there's already a discussion here. I wondered about the name "M87*". Is that an actual name that is likely to see further use, or is that just shorthand used in the article? Or some gray area between? Tarl N. (discuss) 15:55, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
@Tarl N.:As it appears in the paper, it is a shorthand-they write "M87* hereafter". But I remember seeing it in some sources a year ago, but can't find them right now. So I don't know if this paper can be used as source for this designation. AhmadLX-)¯\_(ツ)_/¯) 16:06, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
@Tarl N.:Yes, during the press conference a journalist asked about the name. The spokesperson stated that the naming convention adopted was similar to Sagittarius A*. See at 43:15 into the video.[2] They also stated that it will later be given a proper name. M87* should probably be regarded as a Provisional designation in astronomy. --mikeu talk 16:14, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
@Mu301: Thanks, that was exactly what I was looking for. We might update the article to replaced "named" with "provisionally designated', but I suspect given that background, the name will stick and the pattern of Galaxy* will be used for other central black holes. Tarl N. (discuss) 16:21, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
@Tarl N.:I agree. I'll followup on the M87 talk. --mikeu talk 16:35, 10 April 2019 (UTC)

Saudi nationalists are brigading wikipedia and are mobilizing their efforts on twitter

Hello AhmadLX, I hope you're doing well.

I'm sure you have noticed the recent attempts to editorialize articles and distorting facts by some Saudi ultra-nationalists to suit their narrative. In fact I have found out about your wikipedia account from their twitter page. Needless to say they're a bunch of extremists (calling other Arabs as non-Arabs or 'Arabized') and are using ethnic scientific-racism as if we're still living in the 19th century..

They're so petty in fact user ArabianWE have edited the Arabian Peninsula article just to make Saudi Arabia name come out first in the list of articles. You can check out his edits on his contributions page. Clearly an act of editorialized war.

I came to you because surely the moderators in Wikipedia can stop this and reverse the edits? If they're not stopped now they will expand on other articles and it will be an endless misinformation war. Clearly Wikipedia was not intended to be a place for that..

This is their twitter page where you were mentioned by the ultra-nationalists and they called you an "امصاري" which is a derogatory word:

AlOtaibi-1: Thanks for your message. I visited the link and seems they are discontented with Wikipedia as a whole. They think that Wikipedians are conspiring against their nation and country and that Wikipedia policies are being misused to prevent them from editing (i.e promote their country) freely. Nationalism, just like religion, affects peoples' ability to comprehend. But there is nothing one can do about it. AhmadLX-)¯\_(ツ)_/¯) 13:35, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Ibn al-Ash'ath

Hi, and first of all, thanks a lot for your recent work on early Muslim articles. Glad to see someone else producing high-quality content in this neglected area! I was thinking about nominating Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn al-Ash'ath to FA, and would like to know whether you had any comments in advance, seeing as you probably know the period better than I do. Any feedback, or even better, edits, would be greatly appreciated. If you don't have time, no worries :) Constantine 13:56, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Cplakidas: Thanks for the appreciation, in fact I came to this area because articles were being abused by religious POV pushers and there were very few unbiased editors (I could count 5 or so, including Al Ameer and You) who were doing pretty decent job, so I thought I would increase that team of neutral editors by +1 ;) The article is already A class, and the A class articles, you know more than me, are just a little short of FA-hood. Nevertheless, I will try to find some issues. Thanks. AhmadLX-)¯\_(ツ)_/¯) 16:26, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Last question (Second Fitna)

I have another question after going through the article again. The article mentioned part of the opposition against Yazid was due to the unprecendented nature of hereditary succession, but how about Hasan's succession of Ali that happened just a few decades before? Did that happen by shura, appointment, or? Could this part be clarified: "Ali's eldest son Hasan became caliph, " HaEr48 (talk) 11:55, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

@HaEr48: Thanks for the message. Actually this is somewhat complicated as at-least two versions of his election/selection have been reported 1) Kufans elected him when Ali was injured and the latter neither approved nor disapproved the election 2) Ali appointed him.
Most modern sources affirm the first account (see for example "Hasan b. Ali" in EI2 or Iranica), although some have argued that Hasan's appointment was a precedent available to Muawiya for Yazid's appointment (will have to search for these, can't recall which ones). Thanks AhmedLX, for reviewing my edit at Imam Husayn page. The material is not an OR and, was as per citation mentioned in the subject para above. However I shall reconsider if not looking proper.Md iet (talk) 16:28, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

@Md iet: If you add anything, you are supposed to provide a reliable source, unless it is a clear and well known fact. Nobody will know that your addition is supported by a source cited somewhere else in the article. Also, of the two sources that you talk about, one is unverifiable. It seems to be a primary source, even if it comes to be verified. The other one may be okay, although I don't know if it supports the claim. Secondly, we don't write just anything. That inscription doesn't add anything meaningful to the article. Instead of adding those fragmented words, you could just write that the inscription states "Husayn's head was hidden here by XYZ, and discovered by ABC.[source]" --AhmadLX-(Wikiposta) 17:21, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

The brief as suggested by you "Husain's head was hidden here by XYZ, and discovered by ABC.[source]" is some what mentioned in the article. ".. the miracles..a major glory .. wishes of Allah, is .. recovery of.. Head ... Husain .. at .. Ashkelon, .. hidden by..tyrants(.) They tried to conceal.. Allah has promised to reveal(.) Referencing and footnotes assistance

Hi Ahmad, I'm helping out on an article on Abū_al-Faraj_al-Iṣfahānī with quite complex references and footnotes. I think that separate 'references' and 'sources' (e.g. in the style of this article) would work better for it, but I'm not familiar with how to implement it (I usually stick to science articles where just referencing with cite_journal is pretty simple). Given your experience with articles using that sort of referencing, as well as arabic historical sources, would you be able to drop by and lend a hand? Thanks in advance for any assistance! T.Shafee(Evo&Evo)talk 09:43, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

@Evolution and evolvability: The referencing in the article in question is different from the one we normally use with books here. I don't know of standard reference formatting in Wikijournals. At Wikipedia, Sfn tags are used for books where multiple pages are to be cited and we provide full bibliographic data. For example:

Statement A.{{sfn|Wellhausen|1975|p=85}} Statement B.{{sfn|Wellhausen|1975|p=17}}

==References==

{{Reflist}}

==Sources==

*{{cite book|ref=harv|last=Wellhausen |first=Julius |year=1975 |title=The Religio-political Factions in Early Islam|translator1=Ostle, Robin|translator2=Walzer, Sofie |publisher=[[North-Holland Publishing Company]]|location=Amsterdam |url=https://books.google.de/books/about/The_Religio_political_Factions_in_Early.html?id=p7klNgAACAAJ |isbn=978-0720490053}}

I have changed a couple citations there, but I don't know if the author or you will be happy with that. If the changes are unwanted, sure revert. If you want the footnotes to be presented in this format, I can change the formatting of a few more. Thanks. AhmadLX-(Wikiposta) 15:16, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

That's perfect, thank you! Having seen the example, I'll try to do a couple more today. If you're happy to do some as well that'd be very helpful, but no worries if you are too busy. T.Shafee(Evo&Evo)talk 23:30, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
I think I've converted the ref formatting over. If you have a moment, would you be able to have a quick look and check if I've misformatted any? Some of the historical references, I've used name and title, rather than name and year in line with how they were originally submitted in plaintext. As a final thing, would you be able to suggest translations for any of the historical books that don't have translations for their titles? Thanks again! T.Shafee(Evo&Evo)talk 00:11, 21 October 2019 (UTC)

@Evolution and evolvability:

  • There are ref errors (undefined ref) in Notes.
  • Page range should be represented as pp. instead of p.
  • Dashes in page range should be en dashes and not hyphens.
  • Titles, AFAIK, are kept as original, unless a translated work is used.
  • Parameter names (such as volume) and values should be spaced (vol. 9 instead of vol.9).
  • At some places (eg. 13, 86, 89) several refs have been combined into one. They should be separated so that consistent formatting becomes easier.
  • Page values separated by comma should also have space (pp. 29, 51 instead of pp.29,51); see for example fn 120.
  • If you use work name instead of year (common in academic books on the subject and journal articles), it should be consistent throughout the article, whether classic or new works.
  • At places, (eg. 174) page numbers are given without identifier (p.).

Hope that helps. AhmadLX-(Wikiposta) 18:04, 21 October 2019 (UTC)

Thank you! Very much appreciated. T.Shafee(Evo&Evo)talk 23:10, 21 October 2019 (UTC)

Apology, for my incorrect edit of the "Herbig-Haro Object" article

When I changed invisible to visible in the "Herbig-Haro Object" article, I'd made the same mistake as Cas Liber, in missing that the explanation lay in the later development of more sensitive instruments, and so forth, as you had already addressed during your work on making the article Featured-worthy.

I apologize, to you, for my own sloppy work, in that I should have caught this on the article's "Talk" page, before I'd committed to my own edit.

Kudos, to you, and keep up the excellent work. catsmoke (talk) 19:03, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

However, I don't know id:wp FAC criteria nor do I know the language, so I'm afraid I'm not in a position to provide feedback over there. Thanks. AhmadLX-(Wikiposta) 20:20, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Historicalxz Yes there were both actually. There were other errors as well. --AhmadLX-(Wikiposta) 16:09, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
