Conflict of interest

edit

  If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Alaska Marine Highway, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:00, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia, because it appears to be mainly intended or used for promotional purposes of a company or group. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

In addition, accounts are for individuals only, not for companies or groups or other collective editing, and your username should reflect this.

Wikipedia is not a promotion website; this kind of activity is considered spam on Wikipedia, and forbidden by policies, and usernames that appear to be promotional also violate our username policy. Editing on Wikipedia is not intended to be used to promote anyone, or anything, and its use for that purpose will result in blocking of the account involved.

If you feel that there has been a mistake, please appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below or contacting the administrator who has blocked you. Your reason should include a clear response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy. Please check that your new username has not already been taken here.

{{unblock}} While I am an employee of the Alaska Marine Highway System, the content that I was adding was only an attempt to update and correct some of the information about AMHS and it's vessels directly from the "horses mouth" I do however apologize for the poor choice of login name- that was nearer the other end of the horse. I was also unaware of the rules and regulations for organizations, which I will review directly after posting this request. I understand that ignorance is no excuse, and would like to do whatever is necessary to rectify the situation.I would like to request a new username of Jjmccarron if I am allowed to return to posting on this fine site. Thanks for your consideration Alaskamarinehighway (talk) 21:47, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:V8V0979 malaspina.png)

edit

  Thanks for uploading File:V8V0979 malaspina.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:58, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
