Return Elevate(Album)
I think it is official that Big Time Rush is releasing their Elevate album on 11.21.11. So, I believe the album page should be up on Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrismunywoki (talk • contribs) 04:16, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, but "you think it's official" does not constitute a reliable source. Possible future release is covered in WP:CRYSTAL, and then there is the issue of the subject's notability which would have to be asserted independently from verifiable sources. -- Alexf(talk) 11:12, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Kleberson Davide
Hi Alex. Can I ask why Kleberson Davide was deleted? Is it OK to redirect it to Kléberson Davide now? SFB 14:57, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
- I guess it was wrong. Restored now (redirect). it was a request to Speedy as G6. It was a move, not a delete, therefore the mistake. It is now a redirect. Thanks for the HU. -- Alexf(talk) 16:26, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
Speedy of Dr.K C Joseph
I do not feel Dr.K C Joseph was a valid speedy candidate under A1, the subject was quite apparent. I would have thought being a Member of the Legislative Assembly was at the very least a credible claim to importance which wouldn't make it a speedy candidate in the first place. Perhaps you could restore it with a BLP prod as the content was uncited. As an aside, I have no personal interest in the article or the subject it was just on my watchlist as an article to keep my eye on. Thanks, France3470 (talk) 21:27, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
- The article was basically empty: "Dr. K C Joseph was elected as M L A of Kuttanadu in 1982". That's it. That is bordering on meaningless. -- Alexf(talk) 01:04, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not saying it was a great article by any stretch of the imagination, but I do think that if it was a 'borderline' case, as you suggest, speedy deletion wasn't the right way to go about it. Bring it to Afd and let the community decide. I won't press you further but I wanted to let you know my thoughts. Thanks for replying, France3470 (talk) 01:27, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Ok. It's now a BLP-PROD. -- Alexf(talk) 02:02, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've cleaned it up a bit, added a few references and removed the prod. I'm about to exit for the night but I will do a more substantial search tomorrow and if I'm not convinced the subject is notable, I'll bring it to Afd. I was going to move the subject but K. C. Joseph, a different Kerala politician, already exists (there is also a K.C. Joseph) so I'll tackle that one tomorrow if no one gets to it first. Thanks once again, France3470 (talk) 03:01, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- As an aside, you definitely deserve an apology on my part. I'm rather ashamed how accusative my initial message reads (not even a hello on my part). It's really not like me and I appreciate you being reasonable about it. Best, France3470 (talk) 03:15, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Bringing back TraceTracker page
Hi Alex, I noticed that you deleted a page about a company called TraceTracker on 13:17, 19 February 2010 on grounds that is was an "Article about a company, corporation, organization, or group, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject". Here is the red link TraceTracker. I don't remember what the old article contained, but quite a bit of information about the company has been published on the web since then.
- The RFID Journal has published articles about the company's work tracking cod, developing and implementing tool tracking systems, and developing smartphone applications.
- A Financial Post article covered a significant seafood traceability project in Canada that TraceTracker was involved in.
- The company has also participated in several large national and EU traceability projects, including eTrace(testing new data exchange standards in food traceability), eSporing(developing a national food traceability system for Norway), and the TRACE project (developing a new framework for traceability in food supply chains).
Considering this new evidence of "importance" and "significance" could you consider brining the article back so I can add these, more solid references and more? Best regards, Laura.Gray08

Local football club page
Hi Alex, is there anyway to include a page on wiki to show the information of a football club like I was attempting? The club has been going for 33 years and is an important part of the community in the Maidenhead area. Benvoss222 20:46, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Read the notability requirements in Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Notability. The place to ask is in the project itself: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football. They will be able to tell you much more than I know about English football and the rules for club notability. -- Alexf(talk) 21:46, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
But you clearly thought the club page I was trying to show did not meet the requirements? Although you wouldn't consider yourself an expert on English football or the rules of club notability. Benvoss222 01:58, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- The rules of club notability, already pointed to you indicate it is not notable enough as it is not a pro-club, in a national championship tier (see: Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues), therefore the PROD. For more details and questions details consult at WT:FOOTY as indicated. -- Alexf(talk) 02:13, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
I could paste a list of 1000 clubs currently showing on Wiki that are not "pro-clubs" playing in amatuer leagues. Here is one example: Ashford_Town_F.C.. Benvoss222 02:29, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, it's in the National League System. -- Alexf(talk) 10:49, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
speedy deleted list of cold fusion scientists
just one question. Why didn't you read the two contestations ? --POVbrigand (talk) 20:29, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
- What "contestations"? Are you referring to the page Talk:List of cold fusion researchers? It was a G8 - orphan page. We cannot have a Talk page for a non-existent article. -- Alexf(talk) 20:34, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yup, that page. On that orphaned talk page the two initiators explicitly stated "give us some time before deleting this orphaned talk page." It might be perfectly clear for you that you can delete this page without further warning, but I didn't expect that my edits (=invested time) could get so suddenly deleted. I am just very lucky that I had an edit window open at the time of your deletion, so I could copy the content from there to my own namespace.
- So yes, there were two contestations to the speedy delete notice, and I guess you were not aware of them. --POVbrigand (talk) 07:56, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- No I wasn't. Looked again. Just way down the page on an orphaned page. If they wanted to test how the article looked they could always use a subpage or a sandbox. Creating orphan talk pages is not the way and will get them nominated for speedy deletion fast, as it happened. -- Alexf(talk) 10:42, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
- It's just that I wasn't aware of that until now. So now it is on my userspace. If hadn't been able to copy it over myself, could you have done that for me ? I am a bit puzzled because the whole edit history seems to be lost without a trace. --POVbrigand (talk) 14:21, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- Whole page with edit history can be restored and userfied upon request. It is unusual on an orphaned Talk page but it can be done. If you want it I can move it to your user space, but I should not do it without your prior approval and request. -- Alexf(talk) 14:56, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation and for the link to WP:USERFY. Can you help me on getting this "User:POVbrigand/list#List_of_LENR_researchers" as an incubator ?. Before you do, be careful: only the actual "List_of_LENR_researchers" should be used, the rest has no value for eventual namespace version.
- Or should I just keep it in userspace until I feel it's ready ? Please advise :-) --POVbrigand (talk) 10:51, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Work on it there until ready. Then you can move it to mainspace but be expecting many editors to question and refactor. That's the nature of Wikipedia. Once moved, you can request deletion of the article in userspace by adding a {{db-u1}} at the top of it. and any admin on duty will remove it. -- Alexf(talk) 11:14, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

autobiography tag/deletion question
I have NO idea what i'm doing right now or HOPE that I'm doing this correctly. Just inquiring about my user page. i added the references, per the request and some were deleted, some were left, and now it's asking for autobiography notes. i'm confused. what am i to do. thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by IAMVES (talk • contribs) 20:55, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
- It would be nice if you linked to the page you are talking about, and signed you entries in Talk pages (see note at the top of the edit page). No matter, I did a little search for you to see what were you talking about. You mention your user page. It is empty (has been emptied by you). If you mean the article currently in AfD, every article has to assert notability. Autobiographies are strongly discouraged. If you want to defent the article, please make your comments in the AfD Page. -- Alexf(talk) 21:09, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
Which of the references do you consider unreliable? The three from dk:Århus Stiftstidende? The two from Berlingske Tidende? Or the one from Jyllands-Posten? Pburka (talk) 16:37, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- Furthermore, even if the sources were unreliable, WP:BLPPROD requires a complete lack of references to nominate an article: To place a BLPPROD tag, the process requires that the article contain no sources in any form (as references, external links, etc.), which support any statements made about the person in the biography. Please note that this is a different criterion than is used for sources added after the placement of the tag. Pburka (talk) 17:05, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- I did not mean the newspapers to be unreliable. I meant there were no links to anything verifiable. Sure you added the links to newspaper's Wikipedia page. That does not mean much, unless there is a link to the actual article where she appeared, or a proper citation indicating issue, date and page number. Even if those are not web links, they are still verifiable. What I saw is just claims. If you want to remove the BLP-PROD then it will be replaced with a regular PROD. The point is it seems to be an autobiography, poorly written , not properly referenced, with some OR and POV claims (I removed some of it) and with several unverified claims (now tagged). I am not saying she's not notable as an artist, just that what is there does not show it, just claims it. Claims were somewhat credible, therefore it was not tagged for speedy deletion, just PROD. If you can provide some verifiable links it would be great. -- Alexf(talk) 17:53, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- Please feel free to propose the article for deletion through another deletion process with a valid justification, but on the surface the subject seems to pass WP:GNG. WP:BLPPROD was inappropriate as the article has sources, and reliable ones at that. (Note that the newspaper articles used as references did include dates and titles.) Wikipedia doesn't require that citations be in-line. Wikipedia also does not require that sources be on-line. See WP:CITE for more details. As an administrator, I think you have an obligation to familiarize yourself with these guidelines and to apply them as intended. Pburka (talk) 20:48, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

CHAMPS2 page deleted under "A7" can it be restored or at least the text emailed to me
I was not aware that there was a CHAMPS2 article on Wikipedia or who authored it, I only became aware of it because of a Google alert on the term which included a snippet of it. CHAMPS2 is a business transformation methodology (of the same ilk as the PRINCE2 and PMBOK project management methodologies), accredited by APMG, of which I am a certified practitioner and one of the people tasked with supporting and promoting it. If you could restore the article or provide the original raw text to me I would be more than happy to bring it up to the requisite standard and resubmit. It would also be helpful if you could make available any discussions or rationale behind the deletion so that I can target my efforts to dealing with identified problems rather than trying to second guess.
I could just recreate the article from scratch but would prefer to have some basis from which to work (and avoid the need to locate and upload any graphics the original author may have already uploaded). If the article cannot be restored or the raw text provided I'll recreate from scratch.
Thanks
Stephen

Nek Minnit
Hi Alexf. I came looking for information on the phrase Nek Minnit, which has had a fair bit of currency here in New Zealand lately. I see you have deleted an article on it. Is the deleted article accessible anywhere? I would be interested in seeing if I can make head or tail of it—at least to find out where the phrase originated. From your reason for deletion, and the nature of the subject itself, I gather it may have been contributed by a New Zealander with limited literacy skills, possibly in a form of NZ English not widely understood elsewhere. Cheers. Koro Neil (talk) 06:02, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
- It was not NZ English. It was gibberish. From the article: "NEK MINNIT! Fidhfifhhfggkfjfjfjfhhfhffhbeibxidb if I dbsivcihachsxibehebci CID. I'd I'd is." and a few more lines like that. -- Alexf(talk) 12:11, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Fortune Feimster
Hello!
I followed a link from the Chelsea Lately page, looking for more info on the comedian Fortune Feimster (in particular to find out if this was her given name). It's my not page, but I'm still curious. Does that count for notability? If you are removing pages, then perhaps the link should also be removed.
Thanks! 72.67.63.248 (talk) 06:35, 17 November 2011 (UTC) Ericka
- A link (as requested at the top) would be nice so I know what you are talking about. Email address removed from public spaces for privacy reasons. Not a good idea to place it. -- Alexf(talk) 11:25, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Hi Alexf. I do not think that A1 CSD criterion applied to the page, as there was specified it was a German chemist, pioneer of photochemistry. Please restore the page so that more information could be added from the external link provided in the article.--MagnInd (talk) 21:21, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- You are correct. Took a second look and in retrospect A1 was an incorrect reason. It still needs sources to assert notability. Restored. -- Alexf(talk) 21:27, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
removal of artical cd_slot_mount
Hello Alexf I believe my article has been removed as it was presumed as advertising. This isn't the case. The article is to explain what a CD Slot Mount is because you do not have that information here. There are different types made by different companies and I attempted to cover that explanation and make the article purely describing a new invention that came out in 2011, which you do not have any information on. cd_slot_mount Please can you consider re-instating the page? Remove anything you feel is advertising? I would like to add more information and let others add more information to the page over time, because it is something an encyclopedia needs to have included.
Thank you for re-consideration. CDslotmount (talk) 21:37, 18 November 2011 (UTC)cdslotmount

Regarding deleting HABANA as per rule A7
As per Wikipedia A7 rule - "...This criterion applies only to articles about web content and to articles about people, organizations, and individual animals themselves.."
My Article HABANA was about a food festival which doesn't cover any of the above. I have added a newspaper link which itself explains the significance. What more is practically possible to emphasize more on this festival? I am only awaiting the 4 day period to add photos. Can you suggest what is practically possible to give more emphasis on this festival?
Regards,
Pradeep Kumar. P (talk) 11:28, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
- The festival is run by an organization, isn't it? In any case, as written and sourced it is not notable. The City Plus Newspaper article is a press release. If it were not a notability issue, then it has a serious case of advertisement as written, which would qualify it for a G11. If you want I can userfy it for you to work on but it read like a press release and an ad. -- Alexf(talk) 14:52, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
- Userify should be fine for now. I will edit the contents to make sure it falls into the category of a reference material. This is the first time I am adding a content, so maybe I need to tweak a bit in language. Any other additional changes required, please let me know. Once done I will let you know.
- FYI : This festival is started by a group of people in a large residential complex called Purva Sunshine(and not an organization). The concept, theme and the presentation was a runaway success. Many attended including residents in that complex as well as outsiders from that area, making it a news article to come in a newspaper. This will be conducted further. The name is popular in the area as it connotes to the type of this festival. None benefits from this publicity as the organizers group will change/expand and more people will be coming for conducting it.
- Regards,

AIV report
Hi, Alex, Sorry I made a hash of reporting vandalism under the above title. I don't find procedures are described particularly clearly on WP but I agree that I should have signed my complaint. However regarding the complaint itself, to which you refer here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Mzilikazi1939#November_2011, I'm afraid you didn't look at the user's talk page. After warnings and a suspension, he vandalised another article on 27 October and was given a final warning. That was why I did not give him another warning, as your message said I should have done. His series of edits to the Aesop's Fables page was plainly meant to be disruptive. He made a nonsensical reformat and added a Hans Anderson story to the list of fables wrongly ascribed to Aesop, which it never was nor could have been. The intent there was plainly mischievous and it looks as if the user is testing to see what he can get away with. I'd be grateful, therefore, if you'd give the matter some more thought. Thanks, Mzilikazi1939 (talk) 18:51, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- I had looked at the user's talk page, as I always do to make a decision. The issue and report was yesterday, 30 November, 2011. You may have noticed that the last warning this IP (anonymous) user had was on 27 October 2011, that is over a month ago. Your complaint was about four edits by this IP on Aesop's Fables on 30 November but no warnings have been issued on that day, and no warnings issued for over a month.
- Please look at the notice on a green background box in the AIV page itself:
- 1. The edits of the user you are reporting must be considered vandalism.
- 2. The user must be given sufficient recent warnings to stop.
- 3. Unregistered users must be active now, and the warnings must be recent.
- Thanks for your report. We are trying to improve the system. -- Alexf(talk) 19:20, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the prompt reply. I have been checking the user's edit history. The following more recent edits:
- 18:34, 30 November 2011 (diff | hist) Rembrandt (→External links)
- 16:19, 11 November 2011 (diff | hist) List of national museums (→Bulgaria)
were immediately reverted and plain examples of vandalism. Including the 30 November attack on Aesop's Fables, that makes two on the same day. I appreciate that users must be allowed a certain amount of rope, but hasn't this toleration of bad behaviour of a user already warned gone on long enough now? I'm interested in procedures myself, so I appreciate your consideration. Mzilikazi1939 (talk) 19:34, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Lionel Messi
Hello Alex, I would like to ask you very politely why you have deleted my passage on Lionel Messi regarding his 'playing style.' With all due respect it is very hard to find evidence of words depicting his playing style whereas the passage I have written clearly shows Messi's ability as any other person with football knowledge would agree. I don't think that there is any evidence apart from video evidence to confirm what I wrote about Messi. For example passages such as 'he has exceptional dribbling ability, fantastic technique, he likes to cut inside onto his stronger left foot' are clear, direct observations of Messi's playing style for some years. This is confusing for me as of why you had deleted my post as some other users send me a message saying how that it was very helpful and detailed. Also, concerning the evidence problem, would you please kindly replace the passage I wrote because it is not a biased passage and clearly reflects Messi's playing style, I have also used what other commentators have frequently said and if you have ever watched a match with Messi weaving his magic you will know and surely agree along with the millions who watch him that this is a very descriptive, accurate passage about his playing style. I am very hurt by your edit and deletion and I would ask you to kindly replace this text as it took me a very long time to write. If not, please tell me why or let me speak to someone else who could advise me or who would think I am justified Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beedum (talk • contribs) 19:54, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry for this. Do not feel bad. I personally agree with you as a follower of Messi and Barça, but we all have to live by Wikipedia's rules by writing from a neutral point of view. It does not matter what you or I say about his "fantastic technique" as you put it. Unless you add citations by many renowned sports journalists, and even then, it is POV. See the NPOV tutorial which might help explain the policies better. If you do not agree, start by discussing your proposed text change in the article's Talk Page (don't worry the text is not lost, you can retrieve it form the history of the page). If you want a bigger audience, please discuss it at the Footy Talk Page to obtain consensus. Please do not forget to sign your posts by adding four tildes. -- Alexf(talk) 12:49, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
Johnny Rebel
Hi Alexf,
I was just wondering why you deleted my page. I read through the list and can understand why. I'm not promoting anything, not the movies I made, not the movies I starred in, not the books I had published (I didn't include ant links!) or name the shops where I sell my paintings? If you have any suggestions to make on re-wording anything to make it acceptable, I'm more than willing to listen and make changes.
All the best

- The page was deleted because of lack of assertion of notability, not because of being an advertisement, although it came close. Your message sounds like you wanted it as advertisement. There is no place for a schedule of future events in Wikipedia. This is an encyclopedia. Maybe you have us confused with places like Facebook or similar. -- Alexf(talk) 12:29, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

December 2011 Newsletter for WikiProject United States
The December 2011 issue of the WikiProject United States newsletter has been published. You may read the newsletter, change the format in which future issues will be delivered to you, or unsubscribe from this notification by following the link. Thank you.

- Sorry Kumioko but I had to go an opt-out. I am not a member of the Wikiproject. I have never received your newsletter before, that is until today. Why do I have to opt-out? You have this backwards. It should be opt-in for non-members of the project. Do you know how many Wikiprojects are out there? Do you know how many newsletters they produce? Would like to be subscribed to all of them? How about be spammed by all of them, every month? Nah, I didn't think so. Then please stop spamming and change your delivery model to only project members plus opt-ins. -- Alexf(talk) 02:55, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
- Calm down, no reason to start spitting fire. You were receiving it because I still had the Florida related projects members on the list of supported projects. I have now removed them along with Iowa so you should no longer get it. Just for clarification I only send it to members of WikiProject United States, one of the 63 projects it supports or folks who want it. Just for FYI though if someone wanted to add me to a list it would be fine as I read about 40 of them a month anyway. Lots of good info out there if you know where to look. --Kumioko (talk) 03:08, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
- That's better then. Sorry but I do not have the time, nor the interest to read all newsletters and participate in all projects. I barely have enough time to do what I do. Also, did I say that I abhor spam? Thanks for the clarification. -- Alexf(talk) 11:12, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Still blocked, INDEFINITELY!
Dear Alex,
Because you blocked Freedom Against Censorship Thailand (FACT) “facthai” in September, we were unable to convey the results of our emergency executive meeting on Jimmy Wales userpage to UNCONDITIONALLY SUPPORT THE BLACKOUT OF WIKIPEDIA until the US backs down on SOPA.
Look, I’m no Wiki swifty but, reading this page, I think you act too hastily and, by so doing, piss a lot of sincere contributors off. Maybe you should investigate matters before blocking folks. We’re a community, remember? In any case, with us, we’re sure you made a hasty mistake.
You possibly may not get this & it really doesn’t matter. But when you keep one of us from joining the conversation, you hurt all of us.
Hint: Maybe go after the corporados or self-servers...

- Please choose a different username instead. A Wikipedia account can not be used by multiple people. If you want to contact Jimmy Wales about something like this, please do so be e-mail.Jasper Deng (talk) 18:11, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- Mr Hinke, after reading the block information again I have to disagree with you. The username is a violation of WP:GROUPNAME. I fail to see how blocking a group account "you hurt all of us" as you put it. I've no idea what Mr. Wales has to do with this or the relevance of his inclusion in your message. As long as the policies are in place, we follow them. I also see you have not read the blocking message which is very explicit in telling you how to appeal a block. Another admin went so far as to giving you more details and help, after the blocking message in the group's talk page. Up to this writing you have not done so. Coming from an anonymous IP and complaining about this months after the fact does not accomplish much. If it is so important to you to have that particular account name, by all means follow procedures and appeal. An uninvolved admin will make a ruling. I strongly suspect they will still ask you to change your username, as I did. As for the political comments in your message above, it has no relevance to this block whatsoever. I've no idea what are you talking about and how one account block will stop you from talking to Mr. Wales or anybody about your political opinions, or the "blackout of Wikipedia" (whatever that means). You can always create another account, you could email, you could contact the Foundation, the list of available venues goes on. None of this changes the fact the account was in violation of policy. -- Alexf(talk) 19:52, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Your removal of the Kingdom of Alba Longa article was too short noticed. The Kingdom included more cities than Alba Longa Now there is no article on the predacessor state to the Roman Kingdom.
The Kingdom of Alba Longa article that you deleted was created minutes earlier with multiple credible sources and stated that the kingdom included more cities than just Alba Longa - it included Latium and Lavinium. In otherwords the A10 policy does not apply, the article Alba Longa is about the city, not the kingdom. The Kingdom of Alba Longa was a major state in the Italian Peninsula and the predaccessor to the Roman Kingdom, the Roman legend figure Romulus was its last king until he formed Rome and the Roman Kingdom.--R-41 (talk) 18:16, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Regarding the speedy deletion of "Suffokate"
What was wrong with the "Suffokate" article? People were trying to create an article about this band several times already and I bet that even more people were trying to find an article about this band on Wikipedia and you together with Filing Flunky think it is insignificant? --Runkulis (talk) 22:24, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
- What's wrong? Simply fails WP:BAND. Please read the notability requirements there to understand what's needed. -- Alexf(talk) 22:50, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for clearing that out for me. I am still new and probably have lost my temper, I am sorry for that. Back to the article now. The band is under Mediaskare Records record label, which according to WP:BAND's 5th criteria for musicians and ensembles should be considered one of the more important indie labels and the band has released exactly two albums with them [2], so the band should be considered notable too. --Runkulis (talk) 11:34, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

A fuddled file move - File:Beatles Yellow Submarine movie poster.jpg
Hi Alexf. A little while ago I moved moved File:Ysubposter.jpg to "File:Beatles Yellow Submarine movie poster.jpg" with the rationale "Brief but descriptive", which would have been just fine, well, excetp for the fatc I movde it to - oosp - File:Beatles Yellow Submarine move poster.jpg. If you have 30 seconds to spare, could you possibly move it to the non-typo file name over the re-direct? Thank you! --Shirt58 (talk) 11:53, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- What's the harm? "..move poster.." instead of "..movie poster..". No big deal as it is just a filename and the file is easily found, linked and used that way. Why create another redirect? It is not text in an article where grammar is important. Just leave as-is. -- Alexf(talk) 15:47, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Raffles Rangers FC
hi Alex, my page got deleted as it "met" the A7 standard. however, i have to contest this as after looking at WikiProjectFootball, i see that my team qualifies for having a Wiki page based on the following:
Pre-professional (amateur era) footballers to have played at the national level of league football are considered notable (no other level of amateur football confers notability).
furthermore, we are in a league, the link is here http://goalarena.footballopod.com/GA_Home.aspx?id=110&leagueid=56&divid=178
please undelete my page, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth having my page deleted merely hours after joining wiki. thanks
Rjvsngh23 (talk) 12:24, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- Seems you have not understood the football notability requirements. Unless I misread it, the article said the club was founded in 2011. "Pre-professional (amateur era)" refers to turn of the century clubs, before the country had a professional league. According to the Wikipedia article, the S.League started in 1996, but the Amateur era dates from 1904. Please discuss this at WT:FOOTY to get consensus. -- Alexf(talk) 15:43, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
so if a club was formed after the amateur era, it cannot have a wiki page? is there any way i can still have a page for the club raffles rangers? it's not as though it is invalid. its in a legit league. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rjvsngh23 (talk • contribs) 12:10, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
- "Legit" is not a concept we take in Wikipedia. "Notable" is. Like I said, discuss it in WT:FOOTY and see what the experts there say. I am not knowledgeable on Singaporean Leagues. They'll help you and if the club can assert notability through reliable sources, then it will be encyclopedic enough. Hi there Alex, just something interesting you might wish to note. You've included a script in your monobook that accidentally notes the list of your declined speedies to User:Wifione/List of declined speedies. - This is not the place to post article content. You should work it offline or in a subpage first. As for the text you posted here, it is promotional in nature and not acceptable. Gather sources and if the company is notable, write about it in an encyclopedic form, not as a PR campaign. You are not selling services here so nobody cares about a "team of experienced professionals" except your customers. If you want to learn the basics about creating articles you should take a look at the instructional pages, starting perhaps with Your First Article. Gray Ghost Ventures
Hi Alex - You recently deleted a post that I created, Gray Ghost Ventures. My guess is that you did so because of the question of notability.
I'm new to Wikipedia, so I didn't know whether adding a lot more information would violate Wikipedia's ethical norms; however, some of the things that I would think make Gray Ghost Ventures notable would be:
- The fact that Gray Ghost was one of the first private investors in microfinance, having invested more than $70m and helped pull in international aid organizations and private capital into the industry. - Gray Ghost's founder, Bob Pattillo, was recently highlighted by Forbes as one of the 30 most influential people in social venture capital.
Happy to add more as you like. I hope you're having a Merry Christmas, if that's your religious holiday of choice.

Thanks for that. :) Acalamari 11:35, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
I recently saw
that an article, Josephine P. Widener was up for speedy deletion. However there was no link to the discussion page for the deletion. Then, suddenly, there were blue links, so went to the article and started making edits - improvements from my perspective, and then suddenly it was gone again. Sure , there were questions about notability, but she died in 1961, it is not as if this had to be dealt with RIGHT NOW. I now need to take a few minutes to make sure that I am in compliance with your posted guidelines - a quick scan to be sure that I'm not subconsciously writing in haiku - hmmmmmm some caps and ......... borderline cute, depending, of course, on your definition. So. right to the point, why was that article speedly deleted and not put up for the usual "let's discuss it?" einar aka Carptrash (talk) 00:04, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
- The "the usual let's discuss it" as you put it, is done when an editor puts a {{hangon}} tag on the article. This one did not have it. If you think you can work it, I can userfy it for you. -- Alexf(talk) 00:47, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Matthew Tailford page that was deleted
Dear Alexf,
I am trying to establish a page for Matthew Tailford American born actor and sculptor. He is also the co-owner and managing partner of 10 West Studios, a film production facility in Manistee, Michigan. Two of their five feature films have recently been listed on Wikipedia:
"What if..." What_If..._(film)
"Jerusalem Countdown" Jerusalem_Countdown_(film)
IMDB link so that you know he is a real person: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1442877/
IMDB link so that you know his company id legitimate: http://www.imdb.com/company/co0244450/
Company website: http://www.10weststudios.com/#/
... and in the time that it took me to explain myself, I realized that the "10 West Studios" page has now been deleted, so I will wait to hear from you before continuing my quest of getting "10 West Studios," "Harold Cronk," and "Matthew Tailford" posted/added to Wikipedia, as I do not know what I am doing!
Thank you for your time and any consideration,
Matthew Tailford--Umichmfa (talk) 22:29, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- Autobiographies are not welcomed. Articles on living persons have to have extra verifiable sources, the article did not have any. Not one. Being a real person does not assert notability. IMDB is not a reliable source. Please read the Five Pillars of Wikipedia to get you started on the right track. - Alexf(talk) 23:08, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
Paul Klinger
Hi Alexf, I'm very glad that the Paul Klinger article has been significantly improved and I agree that it it no longer a speedy deletion candidate. However, please take a look at the state of the article when I requested deletion: [4]. The message you left on my talk page implied that I had incorrectly tagged the page and did not understand the scope of the CSD criteria. I don't think this is an accurate assessment of the article at the time I tagged it. I appreciate that's a templated message, but it is discouraging to receive messages which don't seem to reflect the case. Thanks for understanding, Sparthorse (talk) 01:07, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, it was a templated message. Point taken. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 01:08, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Video Communications, Inc.
For a stub article, I think I had a decent amount of support for its notability, and inadequate time to improve upon it.--Scottandrewhutchins (talk) 14:34, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- No independent sources at all. Just a short list of products produced by the company and a link to their own website. At least one verifiable source would have been nice to have, to assert a minimum of notability. -- Alexf(talk) 15:29, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
Speedy of Gold: the Series
Hi there, Alexf.
I'm not an editor, but I was alerted by Google this morning (in the wee hours) that someone had created a wikipedia entry for my independent TV series, GOLD. Fantastic news to me - we've been around for three years, have won (or been nominated for) a number of prestigious awards, included in some great film festivals, we've been a leader in the independent TV movement, and we're about to launch our show on two new networks (including one international network), with re-mastered video & sound and subtitles in English, Italian and German (thanks to a generous fan community).
Sadly, when I followed the Google alert link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_:The_Series), I found the page had been speedy-deleted. Reason: A7.
I'm not certain who created the page, but A7 seems like a sad way to go, when I've a list as long as my arm of articles in the entertainment industry trades (including Variety & Cynopsis), citations for our awards & nominations, industry panels at which we've been invited to speak, etc. There are certainly arguments to be made about how notable *any* indieTV is, I'm sure, but A7? Le sigh.
Anyway, whatever help you can offer would be amazing, even if it is just a connection to whatever editor created the page (with the page deleted, I can't tell) so I could supply him/her with proper notability documentation. Or, if the page were undeleted, I could register and supply that material to the page myself.
For now, I'll just keep that google alert in my inbox as a bittersweet one-time surprise.
Thanks to everyone here for keeping wikipedia amazing.

You can, if you want, work on an article, but please be aware of the rules and restrictions for conflicts of interest. -- Alexf(talk) 17:36, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, Alexf. I've not built one myself all these years specifically because of the potential conflict. I'm content to sit back and let the community decide when GOLD is important enough. I was just sad to see it go down the way it did. Thanks for the response - here's hoping the next editor who posts does a more complete job. Thanks for the response.

You have deleted an article I worked on, Mission of Mercy Magazine. It was nominated for speedy deletion by Kuguar03, who is retired from WP, but researched articles I edit. I suspect he is an acquaintance of Takeaway, whom I have accused of harassment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Takeaway#Comments_on_my_page If you felt the page should be deleted, I have no quarrel with you, but am losing my motivation to contribute when I know two other editors will do their best to challenge any of my contributions. รัก-ไทย (talk) 08:27, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

- Whoa! Slow down pardner. Before accusing me of not reading, you should start by reading yourself. What are you talking about? A deleted article I suppose? If you had read the instructions int he top of this edit page you would have seen a request to add a link to it so I know what you are complaining about. With hundreds of deletions a week it is hard to see what your issue is. If you had read the same notice above, you would have seen a request to sign your comments. You didn't. If you had read Wikipedia's policies and rules you would have noticed that asking politely would get you better attention and help. If you had read the instructions above you would have seen the standard Wikipedia custom of starting a new section and not tagging along whatever the last section was about. Nope. I had to create a section header for you. Why didn't you? I've no idea. Have a good day. -- Alexf(talk) 00:37, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
Matthew Parker and Colby Lea page request for reinstatement
Here is the article in questions: Matthew Parker and Colby Lea
This band is relevant to the community of Bainbridge Island, Washington. Though the two incorporate aspects of comedy into their work, they have serious work that I, as a community member, have enjoyed. Many people are curious as they hear about the group and have expressed interest in learning more, hence the creation of the page. Perhaps the inclusion of their album cover (hosted on imgur.com) was inappropriate? Any help you can provide in getting this page created would help.
Thank you for your consideration.
Parslea (talk) 05:24, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Do you have any reliable sources to assert notability? How do they meet the minimum requirements under WP:BAND? Note they have to meet at least one of the 12 points. Please indicate with proper sources which one they meet. The article did not contain any source or proper independent reference at all, hence it was nominated for speedy deletion. -- Alexf(talk) 10:58, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

I appreciate you deleting our page Moove_Agency because you don't believe it has met criteria (o explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content)), but can you please explain to me how this page meets the same criteria: Moove?
Many thanks, Ilona — Preceding unsigned comment added by IlonaF (talk • contribs) 18:10, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out. That page has now been tagged for speedy deletion, which you could have done yourself. As per the page that you created, it was removed for lack of assertion of notability, not because of what I believe. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 18:21, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- Addendum: You may have noticed (see the message below this one), that the Speedy Deletion request was declined. I can't argue with that as I was not sure it met the criteria, therefore did not delete it myself. Another admin concurred. If you feel strongly about it, feel free to send it to [{WP:AFD|AfD]]. Please note that whatever that page says, and whatever happens, it has no bearing on the page that was deleted. -- Alexf(talk) 11:59, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: Moove
Hello Alexf. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Moove, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Company, or at least one of its products, won a notable award. Enough for A7. Take to AfD if required. Thank you. GedUK 20:39, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
Wikipedia Page: Steve Kauffman
Hello,
I would like to create a wikipedia-friendly page for Steve Kauffman. I tried my best to write without advertising or promoting his current firm but unfortunately it was deleted (link provided above). Is there a specific area that needs to be changed? Is there any chance I can just edit that area instead of re-writing the whole thing? I really liked the page I wrote.
I am happy to change any area of concern but would just to like more details before proceeding.
Thank you,
--Sbreecker (talk) 01:21, 5 January 2012 (UTC)Spencer
- The Steve kauffman article you linked above was deleted because it was promotional and I'm surprised you mention it as you did not write anything on it. The Steve Kauffman article on the other hand, a different one to the one you linked, was a copyright violation. I had nothing to do with that one, so I'm not clear on why you ask here. In any case I would suggest you read the basic principles of Wikipedia which will give you an understanding of what we are looking for in an encyclopedia and will certainly be of help. -- Alexf(talk) 01:49, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
FYI
As blocking admin here it seems reasonable to inform you that I reviewed the newcomers contributions and felt compelled to revert all of them. As his username suggests, he is here as a POV advocate for a religious denomination. His additions to those articles appeared to fail several policies, especially WP:RS; the website gift2shias explicitly states: "Gift2Shias is a project which aims to confront the endless shubuhat (“arguments”), deceptions, distortions, twistings and BLATANT lies of the double faced sect of twelver Imamism (“Shias” i.e. Rafidah)."
Although you've blocked the problematic account, other attempts to insert similar content using that "reference" are entirely possible. As you are already involved, would it be acceptable to alert you to such attempts if admin action seems required? I'll watch here for your reply. Thanks for your time, Doc Tropics 16:47, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- I see your point and have no problem with the reversion. As per your second paragraph, I am not really "involved" in this issue. I found the username through the filters placed as part of UAA for problematic usernames. I have no knowledge of the article(s) he was involved with and had never seen them before. Should a new user or sock of this user blatantly push a POV or try to bypass a block, please report it to the proper boards (AIV for vandalism or SPI for sockpuppetry for example. Alerting me here may not get you fast action as I may be offline for periods of time. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 20:25, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, understood; thanks again. Doc Tropics 02:53, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Michelle Money
You deleted this page, Michelle_Money, and from what I get you apparently like deleting people's articles here on Wikipedia. So here's a little piece of advice for you ,since you like to take the role of wiki-cop, if you find faults in a article HELP CORRECT THEM INSTEAD OF DELETING THEM!!! Also, DO NOT DELETE A ARTICLE UNLESS YOU INTEND ON REWRITING A NEW ONE!!! Thank you for you time.

It has Nobility. She is a reality star and was at the center of a marital affair with Carlos Boozer. A professional basketball player for the Chicago Bulls. Though she isn't as well known as someone like Justin Bieber or whoever else, she is still well known enough to basketball fans and others to the point that someone took the time to write a article for her. For researchers this is a valuable article that has been deleted. So with all due respect stop being a talk page stalker, and stay of this thread. so this page has nobility, just because she has a father who is a famous hockey player and sang a song that never even hit the charts? Paulina_Gretzky Didn't think so. And This is where the other part of my thread comes in. If someone thinks it does not have enough evidence to stand as a Wikipedia article be a considerate person and help by adding the information onto the article. Is that not what Wikipedia is about. Where everyone can add to a article to make it better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.100.38.158 (talk) 03:06, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
- Yes... if you think so please do it yourself. I can't do this because I don't edit in this topic field.Jasper Deng (talk) 03:29, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
- Jasper has already given you the reasons. We all have to follow the rules of Wikipedia. Asserting notability is one of the most important ones. If you have an issue with an article deletion, you can always take it to Deletion Review. -- Alexf(talk) 18:09, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

blocked user MovieAdventures
Hello! My former username is User:MovieAdventures but you blocked it, so I created a new one named Pinaycritic (yes, this is it). I have no intention of vandalizing, hence i do not understand why you blocked the former username? i just want to share the reviews in Movieadventures for films that are present here in wikipedia. you can check the website if you like, it is just a site for movie reviews, no free films/downloads whatsoever. nothing is being sold or anything, and i am not trying to advertise. i have tried my best to read the rules and regulations and as far as i know i have not violated any terms. if i made a mistake, can you tell me about it? thank you very much. i am a new user but i am trying my best to stick to the rules. thank you for your guidance! :) Pinaycritic (talk) 11:54, 12 January 2012 (UTC) pinaycritic
- As explained in the notice in the user's talk Page, we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website. that's the reason it was blocked; not for advertising as you say but for violation of WP:GROUPNAME. You could have requested a new name there or request an unblock explaining your reasons if you'd liked. You have a new name now anyway. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 13:31, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

AIUB Oratory Club
I wanted to know how can I restore my speedy deleted page AIUB Oratory Club (AOC) where the reason provided was that it did not have any reference links & "No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content))" I went to your page to ask you & went through your slightly humorous guideline regarding why you deleted & how to bring it back. Your attitude seemed friendly enough & thats why I'd sincerely would like to ask you that How I can restore the page which is about my university [[5]] Oratory (Debate) Club & it is indeed one of the most prestigious & prominent debating club of the country. The club has been the mentor for several debaters of the country & earned national honors along with participating in international events of debate. As my country Bangladesh has not been very adaptive enough years before & thereby our achievement news's & publications are mostly not on the INTERNET. Thereby please give me any way that I can provide you enough validity to keep the page on Wikipedia.
PS. If a non-existing organization such as [[6]] can be provided a page with that sort of information (see the page) I'd really want a reasonable rebuttal why I do not deserve a spot for my club in wikipedia since it is not any economic organization that requires any spam or publicity.

- The article was deleted on 6 February 2011 and again on 24 September 2011, both times for the same reason, lack of assertion of notability. This does not mean that the organization is not notable or important, just that it is not shown. This does not have anything to do with commercial or for profit ventures or spam, as you mentioned. The only reference it had was a Facebook page which is not acceptable. I could userfy the article for you if you request it, but as-is, it cannot go into mainspace.
- As per the other page you mentioned, you could have nominated it for Speedy Deletion as non-notable organization if you'd think it was warranted. Using it as an example for your page does not carry any weight in your deletion/restore request. See Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions.
- Always please start a new section at the bottom, with a ==section header== so it does not get merged with the previous topic, as it was in this case. Please remember to sign your posts in talk by adding four tildes (~~~~).

They can be blocked when in the act and have been duly warned (at least a level 3 or level 4 warning). In any case, the best, and quickest place to report to is at AIV. You Blocked an account
Hello, i recently came to know that you've blocked User:DoabaHeadlines's account. Well done! Very well done! He/she was writing here for publicity, i agree. And the thing that i greatly don't like about him is his/her adding "(Doabi: example)" , actually Doaba is a region of Punjab and its first and official language is Punjabi. But in Punjab, the language got minor changes in speaking style by region. So, people called the language as "doabi" as being this the local lang. to the region of Doaba and just to clear that "(Punjabi) of which style?" as people know the style that varies by region, but it doesn't means that it is any other lang. or different script, it's entirely Punjabi. And when he/she writer "(Doabi: example)", really hearts my feeling as i think that he/she is trying to show people that doabi is some other language. By speaking style that may be called doabi but no doabi exists in writing. It doesn't make any sense to write is as doabi instead {{lang-pa|}}, there are many other regions in Punjab as Majha, Malwa etc. Of which regional languages are called Majhi and Malwai respectivly. What if i follow him/her and start writing "(Malwai: example) or any other. It does not make any sense my friend (i want to say him/her). I always replaced his/her this edit with {{lang-pa|example}} and the important thing is that i've checked his edits and found the same text on other websites may be he used copied text and more, he used much CAPITAL LETTERS that's, again, not make any sense. Oh thanks for that bloking that person and bearing my this edit. You can remove this sec., i just thank. And i should tell all this to him but as this is a talk page then you can call it just a talk. Ok then, thank you, thumb's up to you for the blocking. You are always welcome on my talk page. With thanks again for bearing this :-) , Tari 17:00, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

If the subject is notable, citations and beautification can come later. If unsure on all this, maybe reading Your First Article can be of help. MSU Interview
Dear Alexf,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, were it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at {address removed for privacy} (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at {address removed for privacy}. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 06:14, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry but I have to decline. No time. Thanks for the invite. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 11:29, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Could you please explain why you deleted the redirect Dank via G3, as it would seem to be implying that I, as the creator, am a vandal. Did you read my edit summary when the redirect was created? If any other admin wants to go ahead and not wait until I log in again, later today after work, feel free to do so. -- Alexf(talk) 18:13, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Belinda Parmar
I recommended the deletion of the page Belinda Parmar mainly because i feel it is a vanity page. Most of the edits are by her husband Salim Fadley. It also over states her importance. Lady Geek is a very minor company and her appearances on TV are entirely promotional and public relations for her company. The series Lady Geek TV has low awareness, viewership and is promotional sponsorship wrapped-up as editorial. She has not produced significant original research or provided significant contribution in a non-commercial capacity - which itself has elements of sexist stereotyping. I feel wikipedia is an encyclopedia and should avoid promotional, vanity pages - especially orphan pages whose purpose is to singularly to promote commercial interests. One of the key reasons this articles remains orphaned is because of its vanity, promotional nature. 62.254.79.72 (talk) 07:00, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
- You may have a point there but the article did not qualify for CSD as it has some claim of notability. You may want to go to PROD or better yet AfD to gain consensus instead. -- Alexf(talk) 11:14, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
- I removed the Proposed Deletion tag from this article and started a talk-page discussion regarding the deletion. I think we should not delete the article because the subject is notable in her industry and has achieved some degree of independent recognition for her work. I am sympathetic to the deletion proposer as the style is not quite right and it is slightly more like a fan-page than an encyclopaedia entry. I would point out that I've seen many worse examples (e.g. Ben_Aaronovitch) --Salimfadhley (talk) 20:54, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
- Question. Aren't you her husband as note3d above? If so, you have a major conflict of interest in the writing of this article and should at least, read about it, if you are not familiar with the issues involved already. -- Alexf(talk) 21:07, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
- I am not her husband but I am a close friend. Yes, there is COI. My edits did not add information (other than a photo), I simply re-arranged information on the original article (which read like a fan-page), and arguably should never have been created in that form. --Salimfadhley (talk) 09:48, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

For god's sake? I'd only just started putting the page together before you came along and deleted it! The main source I was using was from a motorcycle action group article of some years back, written by a friend of mine, Ian Mutch, who is quite happy for me to use his text. Deletion of article on Kim Jisoo(Singer)
Hi,
I found the article I wrote yesterday was deleted. As a reason it says, (A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content))
I am still confused whether it is because it lacked the explanation about Jisoo or because you don't believe Jisoo's a real person.
If the former, I was going to keep updating the page. I promise I will. If the latter, Kim Jisoo is a real singer in South Korea. You could check out an article from a very reputable Korean newspaper(it's in English).
http://junior.chosun.com/site/data/html_dir/2011/10/24/2011102401286.html
I am not sure if this will help, but there is a Korean page of Kim Jisoo(Singer) already on Wiki.
http://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EA%B9%80%EC%A7%80%EC%88%98_(%EA%B0%80%EC%88%98)

Please let me know there is something else I should do to recover this article.

Hi, Alexf! I am Michelle.
Last year I created article about Mary Paz Banquells. You deleted that article. Explanation was: "No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content)". Please, can you restore that article? I will put more references and answer in it why she is notable.
She is a Mexican actress and she appears in telenovela. She is a daughter of two actors - Dina de Marco and Rafael Banquells and wife of another, Alfredo Adame.
In hope that you will restore Mary's article, your Mychele (talk)

Please read WP:ARTIST to see what is the minimum required. -- Alexf(talk) 16:08, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Union of Brunel Students
I noticed that this page does not exist any longer as it has been deleted by yourself (although possibly marked for deletion by someone else) with reason A7 (Union of Brunel Students)
I'm going to try to rewrite the article using sources from the Student Union website. Are you able to advise what was wrong with the previous article so I don't make the same mistake as I have never seen the previous article, nor did I write it.
My current article is being built up in my userspace User:Ellenby/Union of Brunel Students, and when completed I will submit the page.
Thanks very much.

- I looked it up. The article was all of one sentence which I reproduce here verbatim:
- The Union of Brunel Students (UBS) is the student union of Brunel University.
- That's it. No references, no sources. Not much to go with, is it? That is all they wrote. -- Alexf(talk) 15:58, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Alexf, I will work on a new version and have it submitted soon. Ellenby (talk) 18:17, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
Deletion review
Do you mind taking a peek at an article that you deleted as A7? Lab 4 was deleted yesterday as A7 (no notability asserted), but I think this may have been in error. A7 means no significance asserted, which is a lower standard than notability. In this case the band has a 12 LP discography (including at least one release on a notable label), has a song used in a major product television ad (Reebok), and has been featured on BBC Radio 1 - these appear all pass the "claim of significance" bar. The article definitely does need clean-up, but I think any deletion will need to be done via an AfD. Do you mind restoring the article? --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 16:54, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
- You have a point. Article restored. Thx for the HU. -- Alexf(talk) 17:59, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Their edits weren't vandalism (as far as I can see) and they were one of several users edit warring on that article and had not edited since being warned about edit warring, but had posted on the article's talk page as suggested in the edit warring warning. Mato (talk) 20:44, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
- Looked like vandalism. Maybe you are correct, as it is EW and may be blocked for 3RR violation. Undone. -- Alexf(talk) 20:49, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your honesty but perhaps I should be the one to apologise - the most recent edit to that page by an IP looks dangerously similar to the most recent post by the user you blocked...especially the writing style - looks like likely block evasion/abuse of multiple accounts? Mato (talk) 20:53, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
- Page protected for 3 hours so they have time to cool down and discuss. -- Alexf(talk) 21:00, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Osita Iroku
Hello Alexf. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Osita Iroku, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 22:28, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

A user's right to
Hello! Admin, please help I wanna know that if an ordarnary user i.e. Me have the right to remove his/her contribution(s) from any particular page without explaining any particular reason? I think it should be, no?? Bcz after all he/she done it himself/herself and have the right to revert his/her own work/edits. TariButtar (talk) 04:17, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- That's a tricky issue. In my opinion, in Talk pages, yes but not in an article. If the text is NPOV and properly sourced, once it is in the article it becomes part of the article, i.e. it is not yours anymore, so by removing it without any explanation you may be committing article vandalism. You should always explain text removal. -- Alexf(talk) 10:49, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Page Reinstatement request
Seeds. Entertainment is a legitimate publication with a distribution to over 15,000 readers online and in print and I believe its page has been removed prematurely. Links to its content are provided below and I can send pdfs of issues if necessary. Please reinstate its Wikipedia page so I can add content to prevent future removal.

- I cannot reinstate that page as an article. I can however userfy it for you as I did at User:Mitchmccann7/Seeds. Entertainment. Please note that you have a self-declared conflict of interest on this, and that the references you have added (removed as they do not belong in a talk page) are not usable as facebook is not a reliable source. Also removed your personal information. As an open website you should not publish personal information where bots and malicious spammers can easily pick it up. -- Alexf(talk) 01:26, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

- Please do not write articles in Talk space. It is not the place. To learn about writing in Wikipedia I would recommend you read Your First Article. You need to know that Writing an autobiography on Wikipedia is strongly discouraged. Bad practice for a variety of reasons explained in the link. Lastly, read the Five Pillars of Wikipedia to understand what we are all about. -- Alexf(talk) 11:09, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Deletion of a page - Bai Wenwei
Alexf, Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I am trying to create an autobiography for a man Bai Wenwei, a Kuomintang general who was my great great uncle.
There is a Chinese Wikipedia (http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%9F%8F%E6%96%87%E8%94%9A - you may not be able to click the link because of the Chinese characters) page for him, but I plan to translate that page into an English version. Would that violate copyright? The same sources would be used and it is strictly a translation. I am assuming that since that page has been up for awhile, it meets Wikipedia guidelines.
BaiWenwei (talk) 17:32, 2 March 2012 (UTC)BaiWenwei
- It would not violate copyright because all Wikipedia articles are licensed under CC by SA. What could violate copyright is the text when it is lifted from a copyrighted source. Translating articles is fine. I have translated hundreds myself (from Spanish WP). The point is that the notability requirements may be a little different in the English Wikipedia. That is something you have to research as I do not read Chinese and do not know ZH Wikipedia. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 18:19, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

- That IP has never been blocked. I see it does not have enough standard warnings. Please make sure a vandal has at least a Level 3 or Level 4 warning before reporting to AIV. This applies to regular vandals. Any blatant vandalism (defamation, racism, etc.) can be blocked before the usual set of warnings is issued. Did you ensure the article creator was given a chance to improve this first before speedying it? A similar article was put up for speedy this morning at Catholic Association of South Kanara. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:33, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
- My dear Evil Dr. Blofeld. The article had no sources to establish notability whatsoever. I had not noticed it was yours. As you know, we had worked together before in translating articles. I know you know the sourcing rules, probably as well as me if not better. I reviewed the article and have to say that as-is the decision stands. The Catholic Association article I had not seen until now. That one seems ok. -- Alexf(talk) 19:05, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

I would be grateful for userfy please and I can at least address some concerns and perhaps get feedback from there before attempting to republish, as if Orlando Sky Radio was a legacy station with an AM/FM frequency I know that this would never have been highlighted as some of the FM/AM pages are just a one liners; in this digital era a prejudice against a modern forward facing station and implying it needs more justification than a station that merely has the ability to fund the cost rather than the listener base to give it notibilty is shameful. If you could reinstate this that would be great. If you see at the side of the page there is a links to other wikipedias section, and this linked to the JA wikipedia where there is much fuller info. Also, if you see under toolbox:what links here there are many articles which linked to this architect. Is it not normal for the creating editor to get notified of such issues also? There is furthermore a Japanese Wikiproject - feel free to enquire there before such actions in the future. Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 19:20, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
- I could userfy it for you if you wish. The article was basically a one-liner saying he is an architect. There are thousands if not millions of architects as you know. We need more than that. A link to another language Wikipedia does not constitute notability. The article here has to live on its own merits. As for the original deletion tag,, yes, the OP should have notified you. The Content of the Page SayyidAbdullahSerif was censored !
Hello Alex,
There was no promotional material of any type contained on the user page of sayyidabdullahserif. In light of such aggressive and heavy handed censorship - It is asked that you kindly and promptly delete the account altogether...a most unfortunate and disappointing experience to say the least. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sayyidabdullahserif (talk • contribs) 16:45, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry you took it the wrong way. It may not be advertising in a commercial way but it was promotion nonetheless and in clear violation of WP:SOAP (see #1) by proselitising religion, and also of WP:NOBLECAUSE for the same reason. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a blog, webspace provider, or social network. It is not censorship but following the policy. As per your request, it is not possible to delete accounts. Hi there,
This message is regarding the page Jono Lester, deleted in 2008. I am requested the page to be undeleted, as the Wiki reference is a common area of research and information for followers of my professional sporting career in motor racing. Please refer to my website here for proof of identity.
Thank you and best regards, Jono Lester Jonolester (talk) 12:52, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
- I checked the article (I was not the deleter). It was properly deleted as it did not have independent, verifiable, reliable sources. You need to know that creating autobiographies is frowned upon. You need to read the rules on conflicts of interest. If you are notable, somebody else will eventually write about you. This is an encyclopedia, not a place to write about yourself. By the way, are you the same as User:JonoLester51? Be careful with sockpuppetry violations. Please ask if you have any questions about our policies. -- Alexf(talk) 13:06, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

Charles Pathe link removal
http://www.norrico.com/pathe/pathe1.jpg
Possibly you are not aware of the historical importance of antique stock certificates. The link you deleted is to a major piece which documents Charles Pathe at a movie exchange that he was part of founding in Colorado. Do you know of any other original documents posted on the Internet relating to Pathe? I would think that someone interested in him would be blown away that such a document exists and has been recorded. I am willing to share this certificate for the enjoyment of other movie buffs, not in order to sell it.
I deliberately did not post a link to my home page so as not to be accused of spamming, nor did I advertise the piece as being for sale, which it is not. It is in my private collection. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Norrico (talk • contribs) 21:51, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
- It is an iffy subject. On the one hand you may be right. On the other hand you are linking to your own site which may be considered spamming. Have you considered uploading the image to Wikipeida? Please see WP:IMAGE and Wikipedia:Uploading images for details. -- Alexf(talk) 12:53, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
Requesting un-deletion of Dotmatics page
Request (in haiku form) to un-delete so that I can replace the offending text with text which "indicates the importance or significance" (as the deletion notes indicate):
- We'd like our page back;
- My predecessor is gone;
- Now may I rewrite?
173.9.71.185 (talk) 16:28, 21 March 2012 (UTC) <email & phone removed for privacy issues>
- And the page is? There is a reason why a redlink is requested. I can't find a page under "Dotmatics" so I've no idea what page you are talking about to see why it was removed and if it can/should be restored. If you have information, and the subject is notable, then you can go ahead and write it. Be aware that your email address implies a conflict of interest. You may want to read the business FAQ before proceeding to see what the issues involved are. Lastly, do not put personal information like email address and phone numbers in an open website like this, unless you like bots to collect your info and spam you to. -- Alexf(talk) 17:04, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
The page is Dotmatics. It says there that it was removed under criteria A7, "No indication of importance". My goal is to address the indication of importance and update some references, then leave editing to others via "Request Edits" instead of doing it myself. I am following COI guidelines by disclosing my affiliation (I'm a Dotmatics employee). To summarize the "indication of importance", Dotmatics is a chemoinformatics provider who have been in business for 7 years with over 200 customers in 20 countries; and our competitors all have wikipedia pages while we do not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JesseAlanGordon (talk • contribs) 13:46, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
- Saw the page. It was very succinct and had no references whatsoever. I could userfy the page for you if you wish. Or you could just start it again. If you have little or no experience with Wikipedia's policies you may want to read about asserting notability for companies. You may also want to read the basic tenets in The Five Pillars. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 14:29, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
Alright, I followed your advice and started the page again, after reading about "notability" and "Five Pillars". I believe I've written a neutral piece that follow all Wikipedia standards, but as I understand it, our page is now tagged for "speedy delete" until you mark it otherwise. Could you do so, if it looks good, or tell me what looks bad, if not? Sincerely, JesseAlanGordon (talk) 22:34, 22 March 2012 (UTC) Jesse Gordon
- I've proposed it for deletion again, because I still don't see notability in it. I may try to fix it myself, but I can give you no guarantees.Jasper Deng (talk) 22:43, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
I believe the "notability" issues are now fully resolved satisfactorily. I've now also addressed all other issues in the proposed deletion, so I'd like to remove the proposed deletion tag. JesseAlanGordon (talk) 03:09, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- You can but if I were you I'd wait for someone without a COI and more experience than both of us review it.Jasper Deng (talk) 03:11, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
I don't beleive that an editor labeling my piece "spam" does not have a different COI than me. I was happy to work with editors who don't write insults -- but that's an insult. I have followed all the rules, spending hours studying carefully what each editor has said since 2008, and edited according to each editor's guidelines. But I must take action in advance now, because someone will just come along, toss off a label "spam", and kill the whole piece. That's not right. JesseAlanGordon (talk) 13:24, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Dear Alexf,
Thanks for your detailed explanations about why you deleted my article. It was about FSANZ, or Food Standards Australian New Zealand, an Australian public service agency, where I am a writer in the Communications Section.
While I read your explanations about why the article was deleted, I'm sure sure what criteria it was deleted under. It is about a public service agency that regulates food and ensures the food supply in Australia and New Zealand is safe to eat. If this comes under the deletion for 'promotion' then surely promoting public safety is not a bad thing? If it's seen to be copying some material from the FSANZ website, that's because I wrote the website in good faith to promote knowledge about food safety.
Before writing the articfle I looked at many other articles about similar agencies and cannot see why mine was any different.
You asked me to leave a red link to the article, though I'm not sure how I can if it's not there anymore - don't think me factious in this comment, I've been a professional writer for 35 years, way before computers and links etc and if I've missed some technical aspect of your comments I apologise, I just didn't follow the import of it.
Perhaps you'd be kind (and patient) enough to explain why the article can't be restored.
Many thanks in anticipation.

- I don't understand your point as there is an article at FSANZ. In any case ADVERT|promotion is not accepted in Wikipedia, even when it is for a good cause. Every article has to assert notability on its own. -- Alexf(talk) 22:24, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
PleaseFund.Us
Hi Alexf, I have just seen that our page on www.PleaseFund.Us was deleted back in September 2011. We would very much like to have a page on wikipedia explaining our history and what we do, and having read a bit more thoroughly the rules etc, I suspect our application/entry was a little bit too salesy. We would be more than happy to tone it down and talk through some of the successful crowdfunding campaigns that we have already achieved (we have been featured in the mainstream press as well) and clearly would love to see ourselves having our own entry up on wikipedia. If you could let me know the next steps to getting a non biased entry up on wikipedia that would be very kind. Best wishes, James

Fontanelle cemetry
Hi Alexf, please be kind and tell me what's the difference with the link you deleted and the other one *still* active in the article: http://www.napoliunderground.org/it/gallery.html?func=viewcategory&catid=26
The only difference is that the latter has older and smaller images. I just wanted to give a contribution. --Flapane (talk) 17:21, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
- The difference is that one is outside of Wikipedia, seemingly in your website of gallery. That is spam, i,e. promoting your website. If you care to post images in Wikipedia, and you follow the Image use policy, then it is another matter. -- Alexf(talk) 22:29, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
That's hilarious. Again, please tell me how http://www.napoliunderground.org/it/gallery.html?func=viewcategory&catid=26 is inside Wikipedia, while mine was OUTSIDE Wikipedia. I guess it should be removed as well. --Flapane (talk) 10:26, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- I think we are miscommunicating. napoliunderground.org is not Wikipedia Commons. It is hosted elsewhere. Hence my point. -- Alexf(talk) 10:29, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
So it should be removed in the same way you did with mine. --Flapane (talk) 17:24, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- I had to look again. Now I understand what you mean. No, the one you posted was to your own website. That reeks of spam. As an example, I am a photographer myself. You will not see any links to my photo gallery (except one posted by somebody else long ago). All the images I posted have been uploaded to WP or Commons and have been licensed accordingly. If I posted image links to my own site, I would be spamming which is not allowed as it is using Wikipedia for advertising. -- Alexf(talk) 17:31, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
You don't know if the one who posted napoliunderground.org link was the actual owner of the website, so how do we know if it's spam or not? In the same way, how do you know if the one who's writing here is the actual owner of flapane.com and not just a homonym? IMHO these two questions are enough for me to delete both galleries links. Take care --Flapane (talk) 10:09, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
