Hi there ALEX, VASCO "here",
maybe it's time, if you wish so, to take it up a notch and protect again, it continues the tsunami of wrong edits and/or vandalism (wrong stats in box, even if not intentional, constitutes such). Where do you see it?
Thanks in advance on whatever you decide, keep it up - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 22:13, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
- OK no can do, but what about Jordi Alba? Protection lifted TODAY, someone has already "contributed" saying he is known as "The Magic Dwarf". Thank god for rollback! --Vasco Amaral (talk) 16:24, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Oi Vasco. As you know, you can get faster service and response if you request protections at RFPP. -- Alexf(talk) 16:43, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, gross oversight by me at Alba's intro, nice work! --Vasco Amaral (talk) 17:18, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
Speedy Deletion
Hello Alexf:
I want to thank you for taking the time to explain the deletion of Weeve to me. I would like to know if I could add content to the page to make it more relevant by adding more citations and links from independent sources, or if the page could be userfyed until it is ready to have a page of its own. Thank you very much for your time, all my best. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donburiland (talk • contribs) 19:29, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

The Deletion Of The Green Garmento
I am very glad to have found the opportunity to talk to you about the deletion of The Green Garmento. Since it was deleted I've wondered how I might be able to defend my position. Perhaps you sent me a note about this, but I just checked my account to learn that I'd changed email addresses without informing you, so you would have sent communication to a long-retired account of mine.
Yes, I can see how talking about any company can be seen as nothing but advertising. But in creating a reusable dry cleaning garment bag, The Green Garmento has created a wholly new product category, one that eliminates much of the consumer aggravation of the paper and plastic from drycleaning, and single-handedly is making an impact in reducing the amount of single-use plastic and paper waste, in time by millions of pounds a year.
As you know, Wikipedia has listings for thousands of companies, large and small. I might think that a listing like Roomba, which like ours was an innovative product that created a new category -- robotic vacuuming -- is most analogous. While the listing speaks to what makes the product different than others, which could be considered blatant advertising, I think the innovation is worthy of discussion.
It's the same, I believe, with our company. We have just received the notice of acceptance for our patents, meaning that once the US Patent Office processes the fees (hopefully within days/weeks) we will have our patents granted, which will give governmental certification of our innovations (application # 12/428,413). It is innovative: a laundry hamper, a hands-free duffel bag and a garment bag, one that is beginning to change how drycleaning is packaged and how it gets to and from one's home to the dry cleaner and back again.
Thank you, Rick Siegel CEO, The Green Garmento — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rsquee (talk • contribs) 16:23, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- It would be nice if you provided a redlink as requested. I had to go back over 20,000 deletions to find it. Turns out this was done back in 2010! The article was properly deleted because it was written as an advertisement. It also would have failed notability as it did not have any sources whatsoever. It is strange to me you mention that "perhaps a note was sent to you", when the nominating editor duly informed you in your Talk page which is still visible there. Jörg Kühn
Hello. I see you recently deleted two pages, one of which I tagged for speedy deletion under A10 (Jörg J. Kühn). It seems you also deleted Jörg kühn, (the original) under A10 which has me puzzled. As far as I was aware this article was not about same subject as at Jörg Kühn. Was I mistaken? France3470 (talk) 22:12, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Then maybe there is a confusion. It seems to me that both articles are identical. I looked them up again (the deletions). They are the same. Am I confused too? -- Alexf(talk) 22:37, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- I looked again and see the issue now. Restored and moved. Now we have Jörg J. Kühn and Jörg Kühn. Please confirm/fix as needed. -- Alexf(talk) 22:41, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Glen Pitre
Hi, we're knew to Wiki and simply want to present correct information on the page referring to Glen Pitre. Since I am his partner and wife, and this information is directly from his vita and Cote Blanche's website, it is correct information. We undertook the update to his page because we have had several requests from fans that it wasn't portraying correctly the extent of his body of work or his recognitions/awards. Sorry for not leaving this on your talk page but we're so new to this that navigating all wiki's pages is overwhelming. If you are so willing, we can send corrections to you directly instead of trying to put them up ourselves. The notice was for violation of the username rules as we do not allow multiple users per account or group names. One user per account. No sharing please. As for the other issues you mention, they have nothing to do with this or me; but with specific editing that you were warned about by other editors (specifically read the issues with conflicts of interest, verifiability and writing with a neutral point of view, all of which are basic tenets of Wikipedia). Otkritie_financial_corporation
Otkritie financial corporation
Hello Alexf, yesterday you've deleted my submission to Wikipedia - about Otkritie financial corporation (with reason of copyright violation). While I'm agree with you, that big part of this article was copied from our corporative site, please note: I'm employee of this corporation and participated in creation of this site. Moreover, even bigger part of this submission was created yesterday by myself, using my own opinion and my internal knowledge about Otkritie corporation. I still didn't found this article after its deletion and I didn't save copy on my local computer. It's a pity for Wikipedia, that one of big and fast growing russian companies still didn't mentioned in biggest online encyclopedia. I would like to edit some parts of this article, exclude possible copyright of our company, and reapply for publishing in Wikipedia. Can you help me and return to me my draft page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vlmalikov (talk • contribs) 05:46, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- Userfied at User:Vlmalikov/Otkritie financial corporation for you to work on., Please note you have a serious conflict of interest here which you should acknowledge in your user page and the article's talk page. As for Wikipedia, do not worry. If the company is notable it will eventually be written about, even if you do not do it, and maybe you should not, after reading the Business FAQ. Please take a look at these rules and guidelines. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 10:39, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Hi Alex. It's a page about him in his own user space. While you're right that the speedy template is allowed to be used on it, I don't see the case for deleting it. The (brief) discussion at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:RevMegatherion points towards explaining to a new user what the space if for and how he might use it better. (If the text is a copyvio, though, speedy would be fine.) Whouk (talk) 12:59, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- I disagree. While the MFD was mishandled (I agree it was closed too early and should have been discussed once open), it is a case for removal in my view. If nothing else, because of WP:NOTFORUM. -- Alexf(talk) 13:27, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Should I keep reporting the vandals or are you fine without me? Nczempin (talk) 17:25, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- Any vandalism that warrants it, after the user has been warned with the proper templates, should be reported to AIV for admin consideration and action. In the case of this article I have protected it for a while. Let's see how it goes. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 17:33, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletions
Both David Leonard (publisher) and Jord Engineers India Ltd. have clear indications of importance/significance, and your replacement of validly contested speedy deletion tags without explanation is edit warring, conduct unbecoming of an administrator. Phil Bridger (talk) 20:56, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- No, we a difference of opinion. If I had deleted outright, then you would be right. By tagging I am informing the user about the issue and I am allowing other admins and editors to consider and comment, just as you have done. Have a good day. -- Alexf(talk) 21:15, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- If you're reinstating a speedy deletion tag that has previously been contested with an explanation then you should at least provide an explanation yourself, and the way to allow others to consider and comment is to start a discussion at AfD, not to tag for speedy deletion. CSD on Anita Sarawak
Hi, I wanted to let you know that I have challenged your WP:CSD A7 on Anita Sarawak. In my opinion, both the claims regarding the awards the subject has won, and the reference which may constitute coverage by a reliable source are sufficient indications of importance to survive deletion under criteria A7. I have no objection if you want to proceed to a prod/AfD nomination. Monty845 23:20, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Ef tours Canada page deletion
Hello Alex, I see I've made an error that cause you to delete the page I was attempting to create [Tours Canada]. I'd like to fix any issue you may have if possible and appreciate your insight to make it work if you are willing. I was creating this article because I recently went on a great tour with EF Tours Canada and thought that parents would want to know more about them before sending their kids off to learn on their tours. EF has a page for their world wide office and their other major markets so I thought adding the Canadian page would fit well because the Canadian office I travelled with doesn't have a Wikipedia page yet. Is this possible under the guidelines? Thank you for any help you can provide. JustinSteepe (talk) 15:14, 16 July 2012 (UTC) [User:JustinSteepe]
- You could work on it in a subpage your userspace if you want. The company would have to be notable and that should be shown with verifiable reliable sources. Your comment "parents would want to know more about them before sending their kids off to learn on their tours" is not a good reason to be in Wikipedia. This sounds promotional. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a place for promotion of someone's goods and services.Of course nothing precludes you from writing your opinion and comments in your own blog or social media site, but Wikipedia is not the place for opinion pieces. -- Alexf(talk) 15:40, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
Cesc Fabregas
Hi. There was an original text which was changed by somebody. I just wanted to change it back.
On 15 August 2011, Barcelona signed Fàbregas for an initial fee of £35 million with a further £5 million in variables
Now this guy has also changed the nr. 61 source to this one:
It is a false information because as in the source nr. 61 was linked to this web page:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/943939/barca-agree-fee-for-fabregas?cc=5739
it costed only €29 million + €5 million variables and not 35+ 5 in pounds. This was the original text and the original source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Huszarnobert (talk • contribs) 17:25, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
- Both sources you link here say 35 million pounds. They are in agreement then. So Euros or Pounds both seem to be correct. I think the misunderstanding was in quoting in two different currencies. -- Alexf(talk) 18:18, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Electoral Saxony
Concerning Electoral Saxony and Electoral Bavaria: unless I am mistaken you deleted these pages after User:-Ilhador- had placed a "db-g6"-tag on them; I just wanted to note that almost all of this user's redirects and taggings are highly controversial. Since January 2012 -Ilhador-'s agenda has been to substitute the use of Electoral for the adjective Palatine and promote use of Palatine only in the noun-form of Palatinate -- unlike standard English (which prefers, e.g., Elector Palatine). He now pursues the goal to eradicate the use of the use of the phrases "Electoral Saxony" and "Electoral Bavaria" in the English Wikipedia. His case has been examined here; see also this and this. Question on account deletion
178.156.80.16 (talk) 20:03, 21 July 2012 (UTC) Hi Completely new to Wikipedia and find it rather confusing, so apologise in advance if I haven't done the right bits in the right place.
I have been blocked - and think I understand the reasons - but how do I delete the account completely? I wish to create a new one and try and get it right this time but do not wish to have several linked to my email.
Many thanks
Jax (21st July 2012 21:00 hrs) 178.156.80.16 (talk) 20:03, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
- Hi. It is not possible to delete user accounts. You can just leave it and start a new one. I have no idea what account it is, there no clue why it was blocked, but most probably you have instructions left by the blocking admin on how to request an unblock, if you think it is warranted. If the issue was the username, then it will most probably give you instructions on how to request a change of username, so you can keep the account, and the history of postings and have only one account with your email s you want. Please always start a new section in talk pages, as I have done for you, else it gets mixed up with whatever was there before and hard to see. -- Alexf(talk) 20:50, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Libretto to opera was deleted
Hello, Alexf, I'm writing to you about links to libretti of the operas Le chalet and Si j'étais roi which you deleted.
I posted links to my opera website and I know it isn't appropriate. The question, which disturbs me, is what degree of utility Wikipedia should be if one can't post a link to a thing which is almost impossible to find on the Internet and at the same time is very valuable. In my case opera lovers hardly can find Le chalet libretto anywhere on the Internet except my website and one from Deutschland.
It's OK with me, but could you please specify for me were my links deleted because of Self-promotion or there are others reasons?

Deleted page Forlled
Hello Alexf
I have created page Forlled on the model of page SkinCeuticals : similar structure, similar field, similar information that can be useful for the Wikipedia users. If pages "seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic" Why editors have deleted Forlled page but leave the page skinceuticals?
Thanks for attention to my message.
Best regards, Anna — Preceding unsigned comment added by Annatokarevawiki (talk • contribs) 08:55, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Anna, the tone of the article was promotional, and not adhering to NPOV. Furthermore, it was not sourced. Compare that to the other article you mention, which is written in a more neutral tone and it is better sourced. If you have an issue with that other article you can request to be analyzed under the deletion process. It is your prerogative. As per Forlled, I am not saying the company or product is not notable, so you can attempt to write it but I would probably go through AfC to get experienced editors comments and approval and I would first read the linked pages and maybe Your First Article which will be of help in understanding how to write in Wikipedia. Flags in infoboxes
Hi, there has been a lot of discussion on this lately, mostly at [1] (mostly now archived). Some elements were added to the MOS without consensus, such as the "distraction" element, and the "undue prominence to one field among many" argument, when there is clearly no consensus for it. To my knowledge, no discussion has ever produced the consensus that spawned that part of the MOS. More specific to your point, WP:MOSFLAG states: "flags are discouraged in sportspeople's individual infoboxes", which is not any kind of prohibition. There is no prohibition of the flags in infoboxes because there is no consensus for it. I understood that certain infoboxes did prohibit flags, although this has now been changed [2] - this edit, totally without consensus, also now appears to outlaw flags representing sporting nationality. There is NO consensus for this. The MOS is contradictory and enables editors on both sides of the argument to use it to back up their beliefs. It needs completely rewriting to leave people in no doubt as to what is allowed and what isn't. If there is no consensus for some of this stuff, it should be taken out. As it stands, the MOS can be abused to such an extent that literally hundreds of flags can be used in an article like the gaudy flagfest that is 2002 FIFA World Cup, yet one single flag in a racing driver article is a target for deletion, with "distraction" or "undue weight" being the argument used against it. Why are the hundreds of flags in the World Cup article not distracting? Where is the logic in that? I do remove infobox flags where I feel they are unreasonable, but to forbid even reasonable use of flags is unworkable and bureaucratic, especially when the MOS allows persistent, repetitive, ugly flag use elsewhere.
Regarding racing drivers, consensus among those editors who generally work on these articles has been that Formula One drivers do represent their countries. Flags are displayed and anthems played on podium ceremonies, flags are displayed on cars, and there is a long history of F1 teams being "national racing teams" liveried in specific national colours, though with the advent of advertising on cars, this is not so prevalent any more. Scuderia Ferrari, though, are undoubtedly still the Italian national racing team. Drivers in lesser formulae, and drivers in IndyCar or the European Le Mans Series etc are generally not held to be representing their countries in the same way, which is why I only restored the flags to drivers who have competed in Formula One. Bretonbanquet (talk) 11:33, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
- I see. Thanks for the clarification. I am not into racing car drivers so I asked why you did it as my feeling was they are not representing their country, which I mentioned. -- Alexf(talk) 11:45, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
- No problem, you'd probably have to be into the sport to see the difference between F1 and other series. Certainly, most racing drivers and teams can't be said to be representing their countries, in my opinion, but F1 is an exception. Bretonbanquet (talk) 12:20, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

I figured it was ok when an editor requested a valid restore that I had agreed to. Now it is a PITA to get that there, and not sure how. I'll have to look into this if you really want it and it is too late at night for me know to research it. I'm truly sorry for it. -- Alexf(talk) 02:08, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

- I understand that. As things are, a) that is no longer the most recent revision, so it would not appear in the CSD cat at this point, b) you have not explicitly acted on the speedy request, you've simply deleted that rev, c) I left a diff to that edit at User talk:Plastikspork#Template:HighBeam which is no longer working, and d) I would presumably give that diff in subsequent discussions about this. FWIW, I consider Andy a friend and have worked positively with him before; we just disagree on this issue. And no real hurry ;) Terima kasih. Br'er Rabbit (talk) 03:12, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Minima Music
Hi Alexf,
I'm a real novice to Wikipedia and I don't really find it very user friendly, or perhaps I just need to carefully read all the advice offered, but there is so much of it and it's seems quite complicated. (I'm even not sure I'm writing this in the correct place). Anyway my User Name 'Minima Music' was wrong and I'm happy for the article to be deleted (I was trying to do it delete myself). I also started a similar article a couple of years ago that I never completed but I couldn't find it (maybe this was the conflict of interest that brought this issue up - my own failed original article!). So I've now started another article with a much better User name 'Minima (band)'. I hope this one is ok. Now I need to Google Wikipedia for Dummies....
Kind regards,
Mick Frangou (27/07/2012)
- The name is in violation of the username policy. We do not accept company of group names. One account, one user. Shared accounts are no-no. Furthermore we prefer you do not write in articles you have a conflict of interest in. Read the linked pages here for more info. It has to do with the difficulty of writing in a neutral tone as required for an encyclopedia article. Lastly subjects have to be notable. This is an encyclopedia, not Facebook or a place to promote your group. Maybe looking art the he;p pages or at Your First Article would help to understand how this works. I know it is complicated at first but again, building an encyclopedia is not easy an we must have some rules to make this a valuable project. rise4humanity deleted page
Hello Alex Thank you for taking the time to look into my inquiry. I am writing you in relation to the deletion of our page rise4humanity http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rise4Humanity&action=edit&redlink=1. Rise4HUmanity is a non-profit that is working in the human rights field. Our scope intersects with organizations such as human rights watch from one end and others such as invisible children on the other end. We have been active for more than 3 months already and have raised substantial amounts of funds for UNHCR, UNICEF, Amnesty International and ICRC. We have more than 13,000 followers on our facebook page and hundreds of volunteers working with us in southern california I can provide you a copy of the registration documents from the state of california. Also links to articles from media. I am not sure what else would help establish the credibility of our listing. Your guidance will be highly appreciated Regards

- The article had no indication of notability. Registration document s do nothing to ascertain notability. What you have said, needs to be shown through reliable secondary sources. Please read the linked pages and also the Business FAQ which apply. You also have a major conflict of interest which is a problem and your username seems to be in violation of the rules. -- Alexf(talk) 10:40, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Toyjobs
Hi Alexf,
I am writing with regard to the speedy deletion of the page "Toyjobs" and wanted to request that it be restored. We were originally deleted under guideline: "A7. No indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content)." The original copy was written as "Toyjobs is an executive recruiting firm specializing in the children's product business..." and would like to request that it be changed to: "Toyjobs is the leading executive recruiting firm..." With that specified edit, would the article then hold up to the guidelines of A7 for company importance? If not, please advise as to what other steps can be taken to restore the Toyjobs Wikipedia Page.
Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomkeoughan (talk • contribs) 14:47, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
- Er, no. It seems to me you have not follow and read the links supplied with the deletion notice, nor have you read the notice at the top of the edit page in this page we have here. The proposed edit you mentioned would make it worse, because it sounds as promotional, unless it is backed up by independent, verifiable proper sources. As per the issues with the instructions in this page, there are requests prominently displayed at the top, to please start a new section for a new topic, I have had to start one for you, else the message gets mixed up with whatever was there before and not in its own separate section. It also asks to link to the article you are referring to, which you did not, and lastly please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 15:12, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Deletion question
You recently deleted Jewish control of Finance as an attack page. I believe the DB tag was placed in error and I was evaluating the page to decide whether to remove the tag when you deleted it. The page was, in fact, a description of a popular antisemitic theme: that Jews control the banking systems of much of the world, with the beginnings of a debunking of that theme. As such, I don't believe it was an attack page, but rather and anti-attack page. Whether it would pass muster in a deletion discussion is dubious, but I believe it deserves better than speedy deletion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:50, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
- It was I who created that page. I agree with WikiDan61 that it was not a attack page. In fact the text of the article itself claimed that the title "Jewish control of Finance" is merely a canard and not the truth. I believe that a Speedy Deletion is too harsh. Instead consider an Article For Deletion discussion. Elsvan (talk) 19:13, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
- Ok. I see your point. I have no tolerance at all for antisemitism, (or for that matter anti-islamism, racism, or homophobia), so may be it was premature, even though I do have an issue with the title of the article. Restored. Maybe this should go to AfD. -- Alexf(talk) 19:37, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Deletion on Haute Couture
Alex- I appreciate your zeal. However, the link I posted was far from SPAM, as you have characterized it. Due to the exceptionally swift action of deletion, it is impossible that you actually read the post that was referenced. The article is a legal piece discussing currently pending legislation in the United States that would protect Haute Couture designs under and amendment to the Copyrit Act. it is not spam, it is not self promotional, it is not marketing. It is legal information highly relevant to the readers. Please reconsider. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adlerlaw (talk • contribs) 14:02, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
- First of all there is a misunderstanding. You did not get to post anything to Haute Couture and I did not remove anything from it as you can see from the history of the article. What happened is that your post was intercepted and stopped by a bot because of the match between your user ID and the URL you posted. The bot neglected to inform you of this as it is not programmed that way, so I let you know that it had been removed for spam reasons. You have to admit that pointing an article to your own blog could be viewed as spamming. Also you have to understand that most blogs are not acceptable as sources. SimpleKPI Deletion
Hello Alex, our page showing who created this product and some product history has been deleted under G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion , we are a little bit puzzled as we tried to only added a small amount of factual information so that others could contribute, if there was any part of the page that was deemed to be in violation under G11 then I would be more than happy to remove it.
Please Help
Thanks

- The article mentions a piece of software and says "It is the core product of Iceberg software Ltd", which, not having explained why the product is notable, sounds entirely promotional. For the article to stay, you would have to show notability through independent, verifiable sources, which it did not show at all. Furthermore your message here speaks of our page, which is incorrect, and more troublesome, about "we" which may be pointing to an undeclared conflict of interest. Please read the linked pages to understand why this runs counter to Wikipedia's policies. I would personally appreciate if you also followed the rules stated prominently at the top of this edit page: always post a redlink to deleted articles to make them easier to find, and please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 11:36, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
The Bulfinch Companies Page
Dear Sir/Madam:
Thank you very much for carefully monitoring our community. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of creating a new page for The Bulfinch Companies on the talk portion. Could you kindly provide me with the content so that I can revise/re-post on the correct page?
Very Respectfully.
EDS250 (talk) 15:19, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Huh? "Carefully monitoring your community"? I have no idea what you are talking about as I do not monitor any "communities". All I find in the records is I removed an orphan talk page from an article that was deleted. I assume that is what you are referring to although your message does not contain a link as requested. You should contact the deleting admin for the article if you have any questions. -- Alexf(talk) 16:10, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Jands Vista
Alexf
Thank you for your notification regarding the page I started 'Jands Vista'. Despite reading as much as I could regarding contributions this is in fact my first contribution. I have read the reasons for the deletion and understand fully the reason for its deletion, however whilst the entry may seem like advertising by mentioning the product name etc., there are similar entries such as Vari-Lite. The Vari-Lite product has been a revolution in stage lighting technology and has changed the shape of stage lighting considerably. The Jands Vista entry was by no means complete and would go on to explain how this system has also revolutionized stage lighting control. Of course any control system can make this claim. However I do see the point and will of course stand by the decision.

- As a new editor, welcome. Considering your situation and that you want to learn, maybe reading Your First Article would be of help. As per Jands Vista, it had no references, links or citations whatsoever to assert notability. Comparing to another article is meaningless as each article has to live on its own merits, but as you brought it up, you would notice that one has, as of this writing 37 references, while Jands Vista had none. If you have any questions, ask. Also I would please ask that whenever you start a new section in Talk Pages, put a section header so your message doesn't get bunched up with whatever was there before, and therefore hard to find. -- Alexf(talk) 12:02, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Refused speedy deletion of Nick Sarazan article
Hi Alex
I had nominated an article about Nick Sarazan (which was originally written by me) for speedy deletion. You left a message for me saying that the article didn't qualify for speedy deletion. I don't see why - when I read the criteria it seems, to me, that it does. And if not, what can I do to delete the article?
Thanks! StilaM (talk) 13:47, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- You should read your messages more carefully. I never said the article did not qualify for speedy deletion. I said the reason you used was not a valid reason. Check what you did here. Then check the list of valid reasons. It would also be appreciated if you read the Wikipedia notices left by users, as the one I put at the top of this edit page which asks for you to leave a link to the article you are talking about so I do not have to hunt for it. Thank you. -- Alexf(talk) 14:08, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Alex! I am new to Wikipedia, and I don't always understand how to use this page. I don't know what a red link is, and thought it was only necessary for deleted pages. Sorry for any inconvenience! So is the G7 my best option for deletion? Thank you for your help! StilaM (talk) 15:36, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- No. G7 cannot be applied since too many intervening editors made modifications. You could try for A7, but that may not work either. Better yet you could try for PROD and explain your reasoning in the article's talk page. As for red link, see: Wikipedia:Red link. -- Alexf(talk) 16:44, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

- I am not a reviewer and not an expert in music. Off-hand the first problem I see, besides some need for copy-editing, is assertion of notability under WP:MUSIC. Please read the requirements in that page and add the proper sources to satisfy those minimums. If they do not yet have enough material to qualify maybe then it is too soon. -- Alexf(talk) 16:56, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

I would like to know how I can provide relevant sources to you to restore the recently deleted article 'Deccani Souls'.
The reason cited was 'Copyright infringement' and I'm guessing it was because I had copied the synopsis of the film from its official website word-to-word. I'm not sure though.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

hello
so why did you delete the article on Ayman Abu Aita it seems noteworthy for him to have an article, granted it won't be big, but it's worth him having his own article. it's touching on controversial topics in all sorts of ways, but I'm sure us editors at Wikipedia aren't the kind of people to back away from that.Megatonman (talk) 17:03, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
- I checked the link you provided (thank you for that). The article was deleted way back in 2009. All it had was literally one line: "Ayman Abu Aita (Arabic: ايمن أبوعيطة), also spelled Ayman Abuaita, is a Palestinian." That was it. Nothing else at all. An editor requested speedy as nn (A7) and it was granted. Feel free to create one if you have info and sources. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 17:50, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi there ALEX, AL from Portugal here,
a small request please: yes, Catalonia is not a country, noone is saying that, it's only additional geographic detail about his place of birth. He is Spanish as it is well put in the introduction.
Several English players if not all have that approach (have a look at Wes Brown, it says he was born in "LONGSIGHT, MANCHESTER", not "LONGSIGHT, ENGLAND"; Kevin Davies was born in "SHEFFIELD, SOUTH YORKSHIRE", not "SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND"). However, if this is not enough to convince you and you keep removing the "Catalonia" bit, please do the same with the "Spain" one, it's already stated he's Spanish in intro, so "born in La Pobla de Segur, Lleida" would be enough.
Also in Puyol, another one of my last edits (to avoid misunderstandings if you read edit history) consisted of reinstating runner-up positions the player achieved as HONOURS, those count. Thanks and happy editing - --AL (talk) 14:48, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
- I've already dropped a line it the article's talk, similar to this message with a few additions. Plus, keep in mind a discussion already took place last year or so at WP:FOOTY and there was no consensus regarding the ban of that approach. Again, i redirect you to the English footballers M.O: if it's allowed there, why not in other cases? --AL (talk) 15:02, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
- What (per what i just read in Marco's talk)? I DID NOT mean you when i talked "about that american guy" that removed honours, that is why i took the trouble of adding the "Also in Puyol, another one of my last edits (to avoid misunderstandings if you read edit history)" bit.
And yes, you are 100% correct when asking me to speak English here, but Marco does not understand English very well, i did not do it to "act underhand" as it seems to be implied ("remember this American user understands Portuguese"), i did it because if i wrote Marco in English i would always think i may have not reached him 100%.
In what concerns me, you and Marco directly, he asked me to message you and i did, with the first paragraph that translates to "There it is, i brought the English footballers' example again (i.e. "born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire" is what reads in Kevin Davies, not "born in Sheffield, England"!), let's wait". The bit about the honours was a rant against another user. --AL (talk) 17:01, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
- Newsflash! I re-checked Puyol's edit history, it was an anon address from ARGENTINA not the US that removed the honours (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Carles_Puyol&diff=511885304&oldid=511829303), so it's the same "gajo" (guy) - in my first glance at the history, i came upon a very similar from the States, hence my confusion. As you see, i NEVER implied AlexF removed this or that OK? Marco's page has also been readjusted, abraços --AL (talk) 17:12, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
- Ok. I accept the explanation. -- Alexf(talk) 17:46, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for understanding the question. Catalonia is not country, but a region of Spain, so the quote. Greetings--marcospace (talk) 20 September 2012 (UTC)

speedy deletion
On 6th July you deleted the article Richard cottle. I was wondering whether you could help me make this page live? It said 'This submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability—see the guidelines on the notability of people and the golden rule. Please improve the submission's referencing, so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia.'
If you type Richard Cottle into wikipedia you get the results for the person I'm trying to create a page for which proves that he does exist etc. It's my first page so I'm not entirely certain what to do so if you could help me and tell me what I need to do I'd be most grateful.

- (talk page stalker) First off, if the article was deleted for A7, it means that it did not indicate why the subject is important, that is, why should an encyclopedia article be included on the person? I can't see the content because I'm not an admin, but I'll bet it did not state why Richard Cottle was significant enough to warrant an article about him. Such a statement as 'his hits made it to the top of the UK charts' would represent significance. Significance is of a lower standard than notability. Although, from a glance he fails the general notability guideline as there is no significant coverage or reliable secondary sources about him, what he's done, etc. So if it hadn't of been speedied, it would have been PROD'd or AFD'd. Although, that statement doesn't mean 'if it's not notable it's A7', A7 and notability are different things. I'm just saying you may want to reconsider creating this article since it will probably get deleted. Finally, your username implies you are Richard Cottle or are close to him. Creating autobiographies is discouraged, or if you know Richard personally or through business, you likely have a conflict of interest. Alexf will probably address your queries as well, although I'll try reduce his workload by giving the likely response. Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 13:20, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
- Matthew already gave you a valid and correct answer. I re-checked the original article and stand by the deletion and its reasoning. The article is about you (seemingly an autobiography and a serious conflict of interest. The article was about a musician and did not meet the notability requirements under WP:MUSIC. The external links you supplied are not reliable sources (especially imdb) and some are to your own website, hardly independent and verifiable. Maybe, if you are notable enough to warrant an encyclopedia article, now or in the future, somebody will come along and write it. When writing new articles in an encyclopedia, you must always remember the cardinal rule. -- Alexf(talk) 15:02, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
Hmm
Hi. I saw one of your edits on my watchlist. Are you sure about that? I'm not sure I agree - it was my understanding that any username that (unambiguously) represents a website name is a violation; we merely use edits as evidence to reveal violations so we don't block people inappropriately. Removing the edits does not change the fact that the name represents a website. Note that my main interest is to ask this question generally - I'm not suggesting that I really want this particular name blocked. NTox · talk 17:32, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
- There have been discussions on similar issues before. The name itself is generic. "Expatbrat" indicates and expatriate that is also and Army brat. Nothing wrong with that. We do not want to be so sticklers that we lose potentially valuable contributors for small technicalities. If he was actively promoting a company, that would be another matter. After he removed the link, effectively kind of apologizing for the mistake (in my view), I don't see a problem now. -- Alexf(talk) 17:59, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
- Okay. I can see your point in this case. For a moment I had thought you were implying generally that once the edits go away, the name is no longer a problem. As in, once an advertisement from and for "Bob's Pizza Company" is deleted, the name is fine. But I see what you're saying in this case - it's something I had thought about before leaving the template, and was one of my harder calls recently, so I think we're okay. Have a good one, and thanks for your prompt reply. NTox · talk 18:22, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
Proposed Deletion of A Madness Shared by Two
Hi, excuse me for not being too up on this: It's that the original Ursula and Sabina Eriksson entry on wikipedia, that's been listed for a long time, is incorrect. I entered the 'A Madness Shared by Two' page, for this is a new book by a publishing company that is to be released on the 28th October 2012. It explains the 'truth' and the evidence within the book, is now being used to challenge the incorrect version of events in regards to this case. The case is going to be raised in the House of Commons by Rob Flello MP this October asking for an enquiry into the case, again relying on the evidence provided in A Madness Shared by Two. Surely it makes sense to have correct and up to date pages on wikipedia, than the current one that's been up for over 4yrs, that is wrong and incorrect in many cases. Could you please perhaps help us, so as I can get around any problems you or wikipedia might have.
Many thanks - Jay. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jayfkay (talk • contribs) 19:21, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- The book is not yet published, therefore it has problems with having an article in Wikipedia. Another editor did the sensible thing and redirected to the subject's article. If you have reliable sources to improve or fix the current article, then go for it. If you do not, or are not sure, discuss it first in the article's talk page. When you speak of 'truth', please understand that Wikipedia strives for verifiability. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 22:10, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
