Hi Alex. On considering their unblock appeal, I can't see any reason to keep ths editor blocked - their username is obviously a problem (and they've offered to change it to an appropriate one), but I can't see any evidence of promotional editing (they've never mentioned their company or added an external link to it); it seems they just want to write about their area of expertise. Would you be happy for me to lift the block? Yunshui 雲水 15:03, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

About Georges Rodier article
Hello,
I noticed you deleted my article about Georges Rodier on Feb.24th. Georges Rodier is mentioned at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Bernard_Renouvier as he was a disciple of Renouvier. You may search the web for Renouvier and Rodier ( http://www.google.com.br/search?q=georges+rodier+renouvier ) and you'll find many books he's also mentioned. Please kindly revert your deletion, because although it's a draft article, it's a start for people starting to contribute with it. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Atriumbio (talk • contribs) 21:24, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- Would be nice of you if you had provided a redlink as requested. I did your search for you and found there is no such article and never was. In February I deleted a Talk Page for such article, created as a test by an anonymous IP. Just a talk page for a non-existent article. Just because somebody is mentioned in another article is not a reason to have one. Every article subject must be notable om its own rights. -- Alexf(talk) 13:12, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
The man lived centuries ago, is mentioned in many books for centuries, what else does it need to the article to be accepted? The redlink was provided as requested, it is inside the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Bernard_Renouvier It is a notable person. And it was not a talk page for the article, but the article itself that was submitted by revision. There was no article and never was because when I submitted it showed that it needed to be reviewed. If you deleted only the Talk Page, wow can I check who reviewed the article and disapproved, so that I can talk to him. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.37.181.16 (talk) 23:27, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- Seems there is a miscommunication here. You start with the title by talking about Georges Rodier (that is the redlink you did not provide BTW). Then you go on talking about a different article, about Charles Bernard Renouvier. We are not talking about Renouvier here but Rodier, are we not?. As I said, I deleted an orphan talk page for Georges Rodier, an article that never existed and does not exist. I have never touched (and had not seen until today) the article for Charles Bernard Renouvier so I do not know what else you are talking about. If you want to mention Rodier in Renouvier's, that is a different issue. As per your undeletion request, there is nothing to be undeleted. -- Alexf(talk) 23:38, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Request to reconsider adding an external link
Hello Alexf,
I added an external link to the double slit experiment page yesterday.
I added it because it was offered detailed interactive explanation of the double slit experiment compared to the other animation links in the reference page. Perhaps you can take a look at it when you can and check if you feel the same. If so, please undelete. Also, the animation is in HTML5 - so it even works on my iPad, which most of the Java links on the current Wiki page don't.
I added the external link to this page.

- This is not the place to discuss this. It should be discussed at the article's talk page to gain consensus. The entry was removed as it looked like spamming a website, as it was attempted earlier on 18 March 2013 at 17:30 EDT by User:Hoxya and stopped by a bot. Are you related to Hoxya.org? If so please read on the issues involved in having conflicts of interest and sockpuppetry if applicable. It could be coincidence but your account and Hoxya.org posting basically the same link within a few hours of each other may point to this. - Thank you for your response. I will post it in the article's talk page as you suggested for consensus.
- It wasn't a coincidence.
- It was me who posted it as user hoxya. I read the conflict of interest and did not think I am in violation of those guidelines.
- Hoxya is my domain - I did this animation because I found the existing links in Wikipedia did not help. As you can see, if you follow my link above, there is zero advertisements on my page - my intent is not self-promotional or for monetary gains.
- If wikipedia had a way to host a HTML5 animation in addition to just writing text I would have gladly posted it here. I thought I did sign my post with four tildes. My apologies if I didnt do it correctly.
- Thanks again for taking the time. Justanotherlearner (talk) 15:25, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- As admitted being the same, the Hoya account has been closed. Thank you AlexF. I have posted my problem to Help desk too. Hopefully they give me a solution to contributing a HTML5 animation just like an animated gif. Hi Alex. I have unblocked HistoricalSocietyWashingtonDC, as the block seemed completely unnecessary. You literally the facilitator of an editathon 2 days before the event. It is true that the username policy does not allow such accounts, but I do not think the person needed to be blocked to understand that. Indeed, it is clear from a simple perusal of their contributions that this account was created for the sole purpose of facilitating an editathon that the Washington, DC Historical Society is hosting for the Wikipedia community. Not only is their good faith not in question, it is senseless to alienate such useful contributors when it is clear they can be reasoned with. Since I will be attending the editathon tomorrow and will be meeting them, I volunteer to hand-hold them, and educate them about the username policy and other such Wikipedia practices. - Oh, you must be talking about User talk:92.21.60.19 then. doing hundreds of edits a day, thousands a week it is a little hard to know what you are talking about without context. Assuming this is the one, and you are the same editor, it should be obvious if you had read the blocking notice and follow the links in it. To clarity the editor there (assuming you in this case), behaved in a totally uncivil manner. There is no need to behave like that. Besides being uncivil, and not assuming good faith, and engaging the other editor (was not me) in a decent adult discussion about whatever the issues or disagreements are, you broke Wikipedia:No personal attacks. That is not acceptable and is what led to a cooling down period. If you plan to continue with this account, please read the linked policies and guidelines. We appreciate good editors, but do not need, nor welcome harassment. In short: Be Civil. Ok firstly im sorry for being a bit of a twat, but i was just pissed of for getting blocked for no reason, BUT to clarify i make like 10 edits a YEAR, i only edit formula one pages occasionaly so i dont know why you are saying that im doing thousands a week. I dont really know anything about ip addresses but im the only person in my household who uses wiki on a regular basis so maybe it is someone else from somewhere else in the world that you need to block. also this 4 dash thing to start a new sectoin i dont know where that button is so sox — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexiqbal31 (talk • contribs) 18:49, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

- Alexiqbal31, you have to learn to read what is said in detail. I do the thousands of edits not you (you can easily check that by looking at editor's contributions). You would also see that the IP address will be unblocked soon automatically as the block was only for 3 days and will unblock on Thu, 28 Mar 2013 13:04:17 GMT. All of this is available information. Also, please sign your posts as requested. It's polite, and the right thing to do. There is no problem with doing "like 10 edits a year", nor there is anything wrong with editing anonymously and having your IP address shown (which identifies your location, so why would anybody want to do that instead of using a nickname, I don't know, but as said, it's ok if you want it that way). As per the 'button' for creating subsections, there is also no need for one (though there is one) as you can just type equal signs as separators. All you have to do to learn it is look at any edit page. Or you can take the time to learn to do it properly at the markup page. -- Alexf(talk) 19:05, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

- Now this is getting a little tiring. It was explained to you clearly why the IP address was temporarily blocked (not you but an IP address). You have offered no proof that this account you use is even related to that IP (easily done by using the IP again, else no dice). Second, the explanation was given above and reiterated, then reiterated again by another user (a tps). Next, you keep harping on this and not reading or following instructions. I have been forthcoming to you for your interest in the issue. The IP address is now unblocked (block expired) No more to do here. Please be advised that this issue is now closed. Please no more harping on this. It is getting tiring and I do not have the time to keep repeating myself. Also please be advised that any further harping will be considered disrupting and could lead to a more serious block. I'm sorry if you don't feel this is the 'place to discuss this' but i don't understand wikipedia and all your protocol and quite frankly if you block someone and then can't be bothered to explain clearly with valid evidence as to why you have blocked them then you shouldn't be surprised when they keep asking you questions. Its as i you have arrested me for a crime and then half way through my trial after i ask for evidence you just say i cant be bothered and say that isn't the end.
Stop being so obnoxious and tell me clearly why i was blocked, you claim its because someone on my ip address was abusive however i know this isn't the case because i only used profane language after my block ( and just to be clear calling someone a cunt or saying fuck or tying in caps really isn't that big of a deal anyway). SO PLEASE PLEASE, explain clearly why i was blocked and don't direct be to other obscure areas of this website. IF YOU BLOCK ME YOU DEAL WITH THE LEG WORK, simple as don't try and pass this off to someone else who doesn't know what is going on and who will simply side with the admin purely because they are 'admin'.
Note i'm persistent, but fair. IF you tell me why i was originally blocked or why my ip address was blocked *********BEFORE********* the use of bad language then i will leave you alone.
Also stop trying to act is if you are superior to me simply because you are admin or wikipedia, quite frankly tis pitiful.
Rum Runner (band)
I was about to decline the A7 nomination of Rum Runner (band) because it made an assertion of notability; i.e. the band appears to meet WP:BAND criterion #5, having two albums from a notable record label. Although Wikipedia has no article on Longshot Music, Google News archives shows some reliable source coverage of the label and its bands, so I wouldn't consider this a clear-cut speedy deletion case. deletion of Mario Ferreiro
Hi! I don't think WP:CSD#A7 applies here. As the article stated, he's a presidential candidate in the upcoming election in Paraguay. Polls tend to place him in 3rd place. Could you restore the article? Thanks User332572385 (talk) 10:12, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- Disagree. The article had no references whatsoever. It looked like just another politician among many. Has he held public office? Doesn't say. Where does he come from? Doesn't say. Any newspaper articles to back this u[p? Doesn't say. Even if restored it would immediately be tagged as BLP. It was a stub with just one sentence. You can do better than that. I could userfy it if you want but it is probably faster and easier to just rewrite the one sentence and add some backing up. -- Alexf(talk) 11:22, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- Technically, I added a link to the campaign website, although it wasn't an inline citation. I don't think WP:BLP is a problem, since the stub didn't contain any contentious statements. Rebuttal to deletion of Little Face Mitt
I'd like to firmly state that I reject your deletion of Little Face Mitt. Your basis for doing so is invalid. You say it was deleted because it was a recreation of an article that was deleted due to a discussion consensus. However, that consensus was reached long before Little Face Mitt had met a peak of success. The main argument for deletion at that time was that there were not enough valid sources. Months later, it was recreated with more than quadruple the legitimate sources and media coverage to back it up. I don't understand why you failed to realize that. No article with the sources like that should be deleted by you on a whim. Explain yourself.

Speedy deletion nomination of Pride Shall Fall
Hi Alexf, i want to contest my speedy deletion but there was no way to do this. It would be very fine to talk about this case. I realy think that the Band Pride Shall Fall is a Milestone in the German Deathcore-Genre and before you delete the article is it possible to get a copy for me? Is it possible to send you supporting evidences for my meening like links of magasines?
I know you have many queries like this and i want to say thank you for your work to make this encyclopedia as good as it is!
CyrasGER (talk) 12:08, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- You did not add a redlink to the article to make it easy to find. It is always good of you to do so so I do not have to search through the thousands of deleted articles for you so I had to search for it: Pride Shall Fall. The article was deleted as you already know from the notice posted in your talk page by the nominating editor, that the band did not assert notability under the requirements of WP:BAND. Please read these minimum requirements. I userfied the article per yyour request, so you can work on it. It is at User:CyrasGER/Pride Shall Fall. -- Alexf(talk) 12:38, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Please Undelete This Page :)
Alexf, can you please undelete this page about South Korean girl band 'GLAM' please? :) (It’s not my page) GLAM_(Band)
Uhhh... I dunno why you deleted it but that doesn't matter~ ^__^
Hope this somehow convinces you to undelete the GLAM page ! :)
Mmkay, thanksbye ! :]
Cookiedesu (talk) 08:38, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
- You say you do not know why it was deleted. Have you looked at the deletion notices and their edit summaries? There are three deletions. All for the same reason: lack of assertion of notability (CSD #A7). What's notability? Read WP:BAND. -- Alexf(talk) 10:09, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
Geocentrism
Hello Alex, I am concerned about your motive to revert the page (Geocentric Model) back to its original state. I added the correct viewpoint of some Christians and added a link to prove the position, and you said that I had used the wiki page as a "test page." I'm not sure I understand. I updated the page to make it better with more neutrality, accuracy, and legitimate sources. I am very concerned about the current (reverted) page on Geocentrism that it promotes an atheistic position, calling the Bible "mythology" and saying that the Bible calls the earth "flat." Many atheist historians agree the Bible is separate from mythology and in another category because of its historical value. There is no scripture verse given to prove the Bible says the earth is flat.... for example the page says, "The ancient Jewish ouranography that one can find in the Bible (Old Testament) pictured a flat Earth over which was put a dome-shaped rigid canopy, named firmament (רקיע- rāqîa')"
This sentence contains no accurate biblical verse to support the position that the Bible says the earth is flat. There are 6 references following the sentence that contain atheist biased interpretations to the Genesis account (which is fine and dandy), however, there are absolutely NO bible verses for the reader to see for himself to privately interpret.
The bottom line is that this wiki page is completely biased towards atheism, and needs to be reserved for Rational Wiki, NOT Wikipedia.

- Although I do not completely agree, I see your point. Put some of it back if you want to keep it more neutral. I'll refrain from commenting on the issue in this article, due to my inherent bias, so I have to recuse myself from it. -- Alexf(talk) 11:36, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
Pyrat -copyright problems :S
Hi Alexf, I write you because the pyrat section got a copyright deletion tag. I would like to explain why it is happening and I would like to know how I can resolve it. My intention is to add information about one software that works in the tracking and management of animals... it is a particular kind of web app that nowadays are being usesfull for research with animals. I got information about this software (pyrat) and I tried to add it in wikipedia. I got almost all the information for the site's owner because the explanation there is well done, but I also add a link to the official website and I explained that the information is obtained from there. If there is anything else that I have to do, let me know please. On the other hand, I contacted the company (scionics) and they don't have problems in the use of the content that I put. thanks! --Matoges (talk) 08:22, 22 April 2013 (UTC)matoges

Incorrect deletation
Hello Alexf,
Sorry I just spent ages researching a post, which all was factually correct and it was deleted (admittedly I had yet to cite it all as this was what I was going to do tomorrow). Can I know the reasons it was deleted. I hope you are having a nice day,
Many Thanks

- I assume you have read the very prominent edit notice and request at the top of this page (when in edit mode), yet you failed to supply a redlink and a signature. Please do so in the future. There is a reason for the request, so we do not have to do the search for you. It is hard to remember all articles when there are thousands of deletions to look at. Did you check the edit summary? Looking at your deleted contributions I would have to assume you mare referring to Kernow dinas (again, we should not have to assume, you should provide a redlink as I did here). If that is indeed the article you are asking about, it was speedy deleted as G3 - hoax. Re-reading the article I see that the hoax reason, although correct, may be a little misleading. If I had to do it again I would categorize it as vandalism. Please understand that trying to actively hurt the project will get you blocked or even banned. -- Alexf(talk) 17:05, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
Dear Alexf,
I am sure you know that I am writing because my article Nicole Kanman has been Speedy Deleted. I understand that it was a violation of the A7 rule. I would like to request for this article to be undeleted if you would be so kind to listen to my explanation. If you are not willing, could you please help find a way to delete the article as a whole? It is painful to know that students my search Nicole Kanman on search engines and see that its article on Wikipedia has been visibly deleted.
If you have read this far you are probably considering of listening to my request for undeleting. I would first like to thank you for being open-minded. Nicole Kanman is an educational institute where students come study English and we train them social and business skills. According to the Terms and Conditions, educational institutes should not be deleted. I have made sure not to use any advertising or promotional language in the article. I have made sure not to violate any rules. Nicole Kanman is an institute that is becoming very popular in Thailand and I would love for it to have a known article on Wikipedia. If it is still not possible, please help me delete the article entirely.
Thank you again, Alexf.
Fingers crossed x — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sangsunnet (talk • contribs) 20:37, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- The article was properly deleted as A7 as it did not show any reliable sources to assert notability. You are saying it is a school. That may be true, but it is not what the article said: "Nicole Kanman is a brand that provides training services on English, Business Etiquette, and personality development". It was not shown as a notable business, and it was promotional. If you want I can userfy it for you but there was not much there to start with as it was only a stub. Now on to other issues, your comments above indicate you have a conflict of interest with this company. In that case you should declare it in your user page. As per your other request to "delete the article as a whole", I've no idea what that means. The article is already deleted. Being "painful to know" or "is becoming very popular" or asking for mercy as you seem to be doing above has no impact or bearing whatsoever as the appealing to deletion guidelines show. Please read the linked pages in this message before continuing with the issue. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 13:22, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
Dear Alexf,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I do have conflict of interest with Nicole Kanman. I am willing to declare this conflict of interest and modify content on the article to make it neutral and more specific. I am open and willing to make all and any changes in order for this article to be undeleted if you will allow it. If however you do not see it possible in any way to do so, I would appreciate your suggestion of Userfying the article until Nicole Kanman becomes notable according to Wikipedia criteria.
I do also agree with your point on how I was pleading for mercy. I rushed to write to you and was too informal about it. I hope this has not put you off. What I meant by "delete the article as a whole" was to make the article not exist at all since right now it exists in a form of "This article has been deleted"
Thank you Sangsunnet (talk) 17:18, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- Then you should certainly read COI in detail, especially the part about paid advocacy and Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with close associations. The article you wrote stated that the company was new (created this year). This suggests it is not yet notable. It may become notable in the future. Then, and only then, someone may come and write about it. You should not create an article about something you have a close connection with. Maybe you should request an article instead? I do not see what your hurry is, when the company (as you said) was created in 2013. Of course it is not because you want to promote it or expose it to people that may benefit from it, as that would be a serious violations of the rules. Maybe reading the Business FAQ will help you, or maybe the Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. As per the issue you mention about the article having been deleted, sorry but that is the way the system works. If people are searching an encyclopedia to learn about your products or services instead of checking your website or related media for opinion, that is a different issue, not germaine to the encyclopedia and one over which the encyclopedia has no control. -- Alexf(talk) 17:41, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
Dear Alexf,
Thank you for all your suggestions on the Nicole Kanman article. I appreciate it and will surely look further into every method you mentioned. For the time being, could you help me Userfy the article since the method of "deleting it entirely" is not possible?
Thank you, Alexf Sangsunnet (talk) 18:09, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
By the way, Alexf, would you see suitable if I were to add content to the current Nicole Kanman article saying that it is awaiting notability? This will remain under the "This article has been previously deleted" sign. I find the sign giving a negative impression of the institution - making me feel I've made a very big mistake of creating the article in the first place and do not want to to told off by the owners of the institute about it. Sangsunnet (talk) 19:22, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- This is not how Wikipedia works. Either an article exists or it does not. In order to be there it has to abide by the rules (main one: notability). This one did not. There is no such thing as "coming soon..." or similar notice. The article is not "awaiting notability". The company does. Again, read the notability requirements for companies. When and if a company matches those requirements then it can have an entry in the encyclopedia, not before. Maybe a read of the Golden Rule might help. -- Alexf(talk) 22:13, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
Dear Alexf,
I clearly understand now. Thank you for your explanation on the matter. Please don't forget to Userfy the Nicole Kanman article. I will keep it on my user page and follow the steps you suggested earlier. Thank you for all your help. Sangsunnet (talk) 00:43, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
- Userfied at: User:Sangsunnet/Nicole Kanman. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 01:00, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

- So you are writing an article named Sourabh Kumar and your username is Sourabhh242 but it is not about yourself. Ok. I see it is about a politician. It goes on about the person (requires special care because it is a BLP yet it offer little if any reference to assert notability. Besides it talks a lot about a political party which is irrelevant to the article. The history and goals of the party do not belong there. The notability requirements for politicians is covered in WP:POLITICIAN. The help pages for citations and references are at Wikipedia:Citing sources. Kim Cesarion
Hi Alex! I work for Sony Music Sweden and I want to create a page for our artist Kim Cesarion on Wikipedia. The link is: Kim Cesarion. I've noticed that the Wikipedia page for Kim Cesarion was deleted. I've read through the guidelines but i still find it hard to understand why this page would be deleted. Thanks!
- It is simple and it was explained to you in the deletion notice placed in your talk page. Any musician's article must meet the notability rules for musicians. The article did not assert notability under those conditions. I see you have recreated the article again with the same lack of information. It will be removed again. Please do not recreate unless he can meet these minimum requirements. Also, you have a conflict of interest in this article which is discouraged. You must declare it in the talk page. Please read the notice for paid editors and please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 11:51, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello Alexf, I added a project to the list ofFramework progammes for research and technological development yesterday. But you deleted it. The project I added was a real one. You can have more information about it on the European commission website [1]. So I have just written a new version of my contribution ( adopting a more neutral approach). Could you have a look at it, and tell me if it is ok, now? Sgchina (talk) 20:58, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
Hi Alex. Would you have any problem with me unblocking this user? His latest unblock request seems to show that he understands the problem and is willing to rectify it; I don't see any obvious reason to leave the block in place. Your thoughts? Yunshui 雲水 07:28, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- OK, Go ahead. -- Alexf(talk) 10:12, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
Would you mind to have a look?
It is about Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion#Dhanota, an article you speedied as an A7. I admit the "article" was unsourced, but I am not sure a caste qualifies for deletion under that category. I did not want to undelete unilaterally, either. Cheers. Lectonar (talk) 12:06, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- Took a second look. The request is meaningless (has no reason explaining why it should be undeleted). The article as you can see is a meaningless assertion in borderline English, with no sources whatsoever. Maybe you are correct and therefore feel free to undelete. I am still of the same opinion. I could write several sentences like the one in the article claiming some gobbledygook to be real with made up castes, characters, or stories about unknown peoples. Unless they are backed up by sources, they are just gobbledygook. Go ahead if you must, but maybe then it should be changed to a PROD, what do you think? -- Alexf(talk) 12:17, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- I do not mind it staying deleted either, and try to keep away from Indian Caste discussions out of principle. Prod is a nice idea, btw., if someone can be found to restore the article...which will not be me. Lectonar (talk) 12:20, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

Whats with this block length?—Ryulong (琉竜) 15:33, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- It's the way the system works with Twinkle. I have noticed this before from myself and others. When you put 1 year, or 2 years (as in this case), it registers the timestamp to the second, then there is a delay writing to the database, hence the recording difference, or something like that. I would class this a a minor software bug. -- Alexf(talk) 15:46, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- Why are you using Twinkle to block?—Ryulong (琉竜) 17:34, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- Makes it much easier, does the block and writes the message to the talk page. When at work, time is important. Maybe I should do it manually for the 1yr and 2yr ones (where the bug shows), but the difference is so minuscule I don't see a problem, even though it looks funny.-- Alexf(talk) 17:40, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

COOKOO
Dear Alexf,
Firstly, please excuse my English, it is not my mother tongue but i'll do my best to be understandable. Then, let me introduce myself. My Name is Théo, I'm working on a smart watch and this is why i'm writting you this message. Yesterday, I tried to publish a wikipedia's page about the smarwatch we are doing. (here is the red link to the page : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COOKOO%E2%84%A2,_the_connected_watch COOKOO™, the connected watch ) Before doing it, I have read your policy about commercial product that must not be an advertisement so I tried to write it as an information page. But around 5 minutes later, the page was deleted because it seems it was interfering with the part G11 of your policy. I guess you are able to read the page and as you can see, I haven't put no price, no information about the places where you can buy the product or anything that can improve our sells but just the specifications of the watch and the company. This a product that is using a new technologie and the aim of this page was to explain what does this technologie is capable to do.
The page was edit by another username that the one of this message. The edit was written with "ConnecteDevice" which is the name of our company and it was blocked because it represent the name of a company. I would like to apologize about this inconvenient, I wasn't aware that is was forbidden and I hev immediatly created this account. Can you please tell me if this name is respecting all of your rules?
Can I also ask you which part of our edit wasn't respecting your rules? Of course I will make the effort to fit the page in your rules.
I give you my professional mail adress if you want to contact me this way : <email address removed for security reasons>
Thank you very much for your time and one again, I apologize for the inconvenients. Théo Benveniste Nicolas Olivier (talk) 03:07, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
- Théo, thanks for your note. I'll try to address the issues one by one.
- You already changed your name and I believe you have read the username policy to understand it.
- The page for the watch was written like a PR release which is promotional by definition and not in accordance with neutral language needed in an encyclopedia. It had plenty of hyperbole, for example: "is the world’s first designer watch that combines..." and "is ultra energy-efficient..." and "...is blazing the trail...". Very promotional. It was full of trademarks which is not acceptable. Also all of these assertions had no citations and no reliable sources to back them up. Whenever you write an article in Wikipedia, you have to remember The Golden Rule. Even if it were not promotional, it would have been questioned because of notability issues. A new product, would need plenty of coverage in independent reliable sources.
- I've removed your email address from this page. We do not engage by email. It is much preferred to keep discussions public, in Talk pages, as it fits the public nature of Wikipedia and it keeps a record of everything said. Putting your email address in a public website, crawled by bots daily is a bad idea, unless you love to receive spam.
- Lastly, please always start a new section with a section header (as I added here), else it gets lost in whatever the previous section was. -- Alexf(talk) 12:02, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
intention to justify Monster Vintage page
Hi Alexf, I'm writing in regards to the Monster Vintage wikipedia that was deleted last week. I wanted to let you know that I understand the amount of content I contributed was not a lot, but I do have more on hand, including major publications like Robb Report and YM Magazine, as well as the Wall Street Journal article I link to in the article. I'm not asking for a speedy reversal of your decision, as I respect that you're just doing your job and making some tough choices to try to keep Wikipedia a useful and reliable resource for people online. I just want to let you know that as I get spare time I'm going to try to compile some extra stuff to validate these guys, cuz it's a cool company that's been around a long time and had a major impact on the Japanese resale fashion industry in the 90's as well as well as the way clothing is recycled in the American Northwest. It's also the only known owner of a number of extinct brand labels of clothing, some dating back to the late 1800's. But where's my proof! =) I know, I know. I'm working on it. Thanks for your patience, and have a good day. -- 24.21.188.112 (talk) 23:48, 9 May 2013 (UTC)David

Hello! :D
Earlier, I believe you deleted a page called Joey Graceffa. I think I recreated it, but then saw the information about your talk section and how I must discuss with you first. I was not trying to do this behind your back. So I'm sorry since I am kind of new at this, but I am wondering why you did delete the page. I believe someone else was deleting information and sources from it, making it barely credible, but I was wondering if you could look at the new page and tell me if it is reliable enough. Maybe if it isn't, tell me what I would need to do to make it credible. :o I believe he is an important enough person to be on Wikipedia, as he was on reality TV.
Since you said you like Haikus, I'm going to write one. haha

Thanks. I have been blocked and I am not contesting that. I admit to charges and I knew what was going to happen to my account because of my behaviour. But I thank you for taking the tag away from my user page as my user page never contained any vandalism or other things that the tag claimed. My actions were (stupidly done of course) protest against 2013 Bahrain grand prix article where so called consensus formed by certain mohammed and his friend(?) 2-1 established a certain line of conduct. Alexf: Thank you for reverting the edit on Xavi that appears to have come from my account. I can assure you that I am not the person who did that; I learned about it looking at my messages in Wikipedia this morning. I am deeply concerned that somebody could vandalize a page and make it appear as if it came from me. So, I will be bringing this to the attention of administration in the hopes that somebody or an investigation can find out what happened. In the meantime, I hope I can assure you that before this morning I never even heard of Xavi and I do not know much about or hardly ever see soccer on TV. So, looking at his page was not something I would have done in the normal course of events, anyway. I wish you well in caring for his page and for all things Wikipedian. About the page "COOKOO, The connected watch"
Dear Alexf,
I sent you a message, around two weeks ago, about COOKOO, the connected watch (this was the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COOKOO%E2%84%A2,_the_connected_watch). I'm writing you this message to ask you if you received my message and will you treat it or not.
Thank you very much and Best Regards, Théo

Blocking of DavdZionBlog user name
I set up a new account - sorry I had not checked in a while. New User Name - Metzion . BTW - I see that some edits I made were changed by another user. In certain cases my changes where clearly correct. The user who edited my edits was subsequently permanently banned. Should I go in and change my edits back? 38.121.155.251 (talk) 13:17, 20 May 2013 (UTC) davidzionblog - metzion 38.121.155.251 (talk) 13:23, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- Editors are allowed to change text. As you have not provided a diff I don't know what edits you are talking about. If you disagree with some edits you can fix the erroneous information providing a reliable source or citation, or discuss it in the article's talk page. If you have an account, you should log in instead of revealing your IP Address which points to the computer and line being used. -- Alexf(talk) 13:28, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- As an addendum, you said an editor was "permanently banned". That would be very rare so I tend to doubt it. Maybe you meant blocking? They are not the same. -- Alexf(talk) 13:33, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Block of IP 173.169.199.189
Hello, I was involved in the blanking/vandalism war that got 173.169.199.189 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) blocked. I would like to request that the block on this IP be shortened or outright lifted. I believe the user was acting in good faith in trying to remove uncited contentious BLP material from the article Darren McCarty, but was unfamiliar with Wikipedia protocols for such actions and quickly got into an vandalism revert war with the user that reported the IP at AIV. I have tried to extend an olive branch to the IP while advising him/her of proper protocols. —KuyaBriBriTalk 18:19, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- The IP editor did several removals of sourced content from the article. S/he received four separate warnings today (all in the same day), yet continued to behave in the same manner, disregarding warnings and not engaging editors in discussion. The IP block is for 31 hours. I would be willing to be convinced, but so far I am not. Not to mention that s/he could easily switch IPs and start again. I see you put a notice in their user talk page. Shouldn't we wait to see if they respond and explain what they were trying to do? As you know AGF only goes so far, therefore they received four warnings, giving them ample time to stop. -- Alexf(talk) 18:39, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- I think it's reasonable to see if s/he responds to my outreach. If not I don't have a problem with letting the block expire at its currently set time. I'm not trying at all to justify the IP's failure to heed warnings or engage in discussion here but I do believe s/he was unfortunately hit by a trigger-happy Twinkle/Huggle user that couldn't take a few extra seconds to see whether there might have been some merit to this IP user's actions (I've been guilty of that myself). Cheers, —KuyaBriBriTalk 19:09, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Coordinated Multipoint
It is really unfortunate that you deleted my article Coordinated multipoint tagging it 'Unambiguous advertising or promotion'. This is a new technique developed in LTE advanced system and several entities are working for enhancement of it.
LTE Coordinated Multipoint is essentially a range of different techniques that enable the dynamic coordination of transmission and reception. Various techniques are being researched under IEEE as well as Bell Labs. I am working on to put more insight about the technique. Just give me time to make it a complete article. Meanwhile, there is a website named "Google.com" if you dont know something.
- Ok, maybe the summary was not the best it could be but the article was a promo for future development by LTE. Quote: ..."is a facility that is being developed for LTE Advanced"... It was also an essay, absolutely devoid of any sources, or citations. Looking into Google or other places for sourcing is your job, which you did not provide. If you want the piece userfied, this can be done upon your request, but you would have to do better than the previous effort to be acceptable for the encyclopedia. -- Alexf(talk) 11:30, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Vtatultiwari page moves
Hiya,
Just in case you don't check ANI that often, I sorted out the mangled page moves for you with a history merge. In case you're curious, the procedure was:
- delete User:Vtatultiwari temporarily
- move Wikipedia:User:Vtatultiwari to User:Vtatultiwari
- restore all the deleted revisions from the page history (for tidiness, I chose to leave out the ones that were just moves to or from incorrect locations).
I did the same thing for his talk page, but had to copy and paste a couple of messages from you out of an old revision of it, as the page history had forked.
Hope this helps! — Scott • talk 15:52, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
- I had noticed (and had left a thank you at ANI). I also checked how you did it by looking at the sequence per the timestamps so I got the idea. Thanks -- Alexf(talk) 16:09, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Hello, looks like you have been doing good work patrolling some old pages to be cleaned up. I will see if I can rescue this one. The company has been around for longer than others, and seems to have been mentioned enough in various publications that it might merit a keep. The stub that was there before was horrible of course. Thanks for your patience, it might take me a couple days. W Nowicki (talk) 23:51, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- Ok. Go for it. -- Alexf(talk) 00:13, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Change of Username and edits
Hi Alex, thank you very much for assisting me in the matter of username changes, etc. My question now, considering that the blocking said "Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below)", can I continue adding information as I did before? Other than the name (a matter with which I disagree, but I'll comply regardless) I don't think any of my edits can be considered "promotional"; as such, I would like to know if everything is OK in that aspect. Hi'Id like to have some help to write the concept touchless in a proper way
Hi Alexf, thanks for reacting to my post, I was not done with the referencing links to the concept "touchless", but I realize it was too early published and did not really wish to publish it already, it was a mistake. How can I go about this to be sure something has a chance to be edited thorougly and then checked by another experienced Wikipedia editor before I publish?
I really think this is a concept that should exist on wikipedia and wonder if you can make this page editable again and help me out?
I was planing to define the concept and subclasses further and also link these external links and definitions.
Thanks for any help to get this new tech concept online on Wikipedia in a proper and accepted way.

Question
I need to ask you something about a user you recently blocked. Can I?? Miss Bono (zootalk) 12:36, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- Of course you can but you should do so in a new section as I had to do for you here. -- Alexf(talk) 12:37, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, I'll shoot... These days user Cullen328 ans myself were working on a draft for an email to User:Arcanecollective (since he had the "email me" action able). Yesterday afternoon when I was going to send the email that action disappeared form the toolbox. do you have any idea of what happened? Miss Bono (zootalk) 12:48, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- The user account has been blocked for violations of the username policy as a group name. -- Alexf(talk) 12:53, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- yeah, but that was minutes ago. I was talking about yestarday, in fact the email was talking about changing the username and other stuffs. So, do you know what happened with the action ("email me") Miss Bono (zootalk) 12:56, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- No I do not. I would assume the software moved it out when he was blocked. If it happened yesterday (i.e. before the block), it could be that the user removed the option. As you know, being open to receive email is optional (in the "Preferences" section). -- Alexf(talk) 12:59, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

- Does the user have to be logged in for removing the option? I checked the log option for this user and it shows only one log (when created the account) Miss Bono (zootalk) 13:18, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- Yes. You cannot change preferences in your account without being logged in with proper user ID and password. -- Alexf(talk) 13:27, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- So that means the this user couldn't remove the option because he only logged in once and before that I saw that option. Can another user remove it?? Miss Bono (zootalk) 13:31, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- No. That would be a breach of security. For questions on how the software works it would be appropriate to ask at the Village Pump, as they may know more about it. -- Alexf(talk) 13:36, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I saw you A7'ed this article a few minutes ago. The nominator of this article (User:Hoponpop69) has a long history of not checking into things before speedying them, and this looks like another example: this band has received enough media attention that would almost surely lift it out of A7 territory and potentially even survive an AfD (for example, [2], [3], [4], [5]. I'd be happy to add these to a restored article. Could you please take a second look? Thanks Chubbles (talk) 18:53, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- OK. I'll take your word for it as I am not so well versed in the music scene. Do you want me to undelete (which then will have to be sent to PROD or AfD) or do you want me to userfy it for you to work on? -- Alexf(talk) 18:59, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- When you say "will have to be sent to PROD or AfD", do you mean you will be sending it there? I can add these sources to the article within the next day or so, and don't particularly see a need to userfy before restoration unless you or someone else would be sending it onwards to deletion as a matter of course. The original nominator has an itchy trigger finger and does renominate articles repeatedly, but he doesn't usually do so on a minute-to-minute or hour-to-hour basis. Chubbles (talk) 22:40, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- If userfied, it would be protected from deletion while you work on it. If undeleted to mainspace, it would be immediately subject to deletion process as it would be in the same state as it was when deleted. Obviously an editor thought it was deletable and in this case I agreed, therefore, barring any improvements to the article I would have to propose it for deletion if I were to put it back into mainspace. It would be your choice as you said you can fix it and save it. Fair enough.
- Alright, then, I'll take the user draft. Chubbles (talk) 19:38, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- Userfied. -- Alexf(talk) 20:52, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

possible IP range block?
Hi Alexf, would it possible to ge tan IP range block for the ip User talk:36.74.189.188? This same person has been block evadinge to make these same controversial edits for several years now (User talk:36.74.210.140, User talk:125.164.35.161, User talk:36.74.183.17, User talk:125.164.37.116. Thanks--Kevmin § 17:59, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- This kind of request should be made a ANI. It is a better place, with many admins checking it and with very knowledgeable people better able to deal with a complex situation. I'm at work and don't have the time to research this now. -- Alexf(talk) 18:05, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Hi Alexf. I saw that you blocked User:Purulia Pump Storage Project for promotional editing, but they then reposted a bunch of the material from their speedied user page onto their talk page. I've reverted it, and hopefully that will be the end of it. If it continues, though, is that something I would need to report to WP:ANI? Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 18:27, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, ANI would be a good place. The user is blocked for username/promo violation. Once they get into spamming in their Talk page, instead of asking what to do or requesting an unblock following proper procedure (explained in the blocking message), they enter into vandalism territory, but they are already blocked, so to get action (and maybe blocking their Talk page access) ANI is the place. -- Alexf(talk) 18:34, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
