Signature

edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you.

This includes the Teahouse. --David Biddulph (talk) 09:28, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sorry new user here. Allanbcool (talk) 09:42, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Note that in this edit to the Teahouse you removed the time tag. If you use the 4 tildes or the signature button, you get the time tag included, which is the preferred option according to WP:Signatures. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:00, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes. Adding a time stamp to a message makes other editors easier to identify when did you post the message without going through the long edit history page. Abelmoschus Esculentus (talkcontribs) 14:37, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your Draft Kalani Pe'a

edit

Hi, Allanbcool, click on this link [1] cut content of Kalani Pe'a from your draft and paste to that following link after all click on Publish .649pardeep (talk) 11:14, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

References

I'm not sure why 649pardeep has suggested a Cut and paste move. The normal way of moving an article is through the move process, which maintains attribution. As a new editor, you would, however, be advised to submit the draft for review through the AFC process. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:38, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

649pardeep Writers asking for a admin to merge Draft:Kalani Pe'a and Kalani Pe'a now. Can you advise. Allanbcool (talk) 01:44, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Allanbcool There is no need to merge that draft as it was moved by you into mainspace. 649pardeep (talk) 03:03, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

649pardeep do I need to attempt to delete the old page? Allanbcool (talk) 07:44, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not needed as Kalani Pe'a was moved by you into mainspace. 649pardeep (talk) 07:46, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

649pardeep okay great thanks for your help. Allanbcool (talk) 10:28, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

The merge is what is known as a "history merge" WP:HISTMERGE, and is performed by the admins. For the article, JJMC89 did the merge HERE so all the edits are now on the main page. So things are all good now. Next time, the article should be developed in draft and then submitted so that an AFC reviewer can approve it. When AFC approves, it handles the move over to the main area. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:18, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello Allanbcool, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Ke Kula o Nawahiokalaniopuu have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:59, 9 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for taking the time to send this message back to me. Yes, I plan to learn more and more as I go along with edits. I'm new to this so thanks for explaining things. It will help a lot. (Allanbcool (talk)) (Allanbcool (talk) 08:26, 10 January 2019 (UTC))Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Kalani Pe'a - Kau Ka Pe'a CD Cover.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Kalani Pe'a - Kau Ka Pe'a CD Cover.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
