Regarding your recent edit to Dichroism: the article has used the British spelling "colour" since it was created back in 2004. I agree that "colour" looks odd to me also, but around here we compromise regarding differences in US/British spelling and first use or long use in a non-stub article is honored unless there is a consensus for change reached on the article talk page. Speedy deletion nomination of Allen H. Engel
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Allen H. Engel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 04:09, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
Conflict of interest
editHello, Allenengel. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:54, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Calling all cowboys
editHello Allenengel,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Calling all cowboys for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Sulfurboy (talk) 19:22, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Guest Host Displays, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.personal.kent.edu/~mgu/LCD/gh.htm.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 04:13, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
I removed the problem last week. No need to delete article. Thank you. Allenengel (talk) 17:13, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Guest Host Displays
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Guest Host Displays requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.personal.kent.edu/~mgu/LCD/gh.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. freshacconci talk to me 04:31, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

Allenengel,
please note that you cannot use Wikipedia (WP) pages as sources as you have done on this page just you created. This is per wp:Reliable sources (WP:RS). WP pages are nor considered to be reliable sources. - 220 of Borg 05:10, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- I am deleting the WP pages per your suggestion today. Thank you.Allenengel (talk) 16:37, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- But not like this [1]! Wikilinks are not references. Those links are needed! Strongly suggest you put them back. And we don't usually embed external links in the text like here, and here, please convert to references (<ref>link</ref>).
You have undone virtually all my 'fixes' to the page. Not happy! 220 of Borg 21:39, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

- Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry for the errors, I am brand new to Wikipedia contributions. I will make the reedits soon. Allenengel (talk) 22:44, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- Yes no problemo¡ You did 'catch' me at a bad time though, hence the somewhat grumpy response. Early in the morning after little sleep and dealing with another editor, who while not new, suffers a bad case of 'deafness' known on WP as WP:IDHT. You may also notice that I have indented your replies per WP: Indent, use a leading : .
•The page title may need to be changed (WP: Moved) per WP: Title, there are standard practises, but I am not very familiar with them. - •I have doubts about the pages' WP: notability, so don't be surprised if it's tagged four deletion. Consider wp: draft.
• Nb. If people are searching for LED or L.E.D., you will likely find that one will redirect to the other. Personally I think that LED (like lead) is more common than 'ell ee dee' (L.E.D.), and I am an electronic tech. 220 of Borg 03:37, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

IDHT :) Indenting and formatting ideas are much appreciated. Thank you. I agree with you about noting about LED and L.E.D. I have been unable to figure out how to rename the page. If necessary I can note both L.E.D. and LED. ell ee dee :) that's funny, I have not seen that before! Grins! Allenengel (talk) 02:11, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Ext links
editYou're typically not supposed to add external links to articles. They should only be used in references and in the External links section. Please remove those that you've added recently. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 13:41, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Allenengel, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Dichroic dyes, electronic dyes, liquid crystalline dyes has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:09, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for June 14
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dichroic dyes, electronic dyes, liquid crystalline dyes, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Litton. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:18, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

editA discussion is taking place as to whether the article Dave Larson, to which you have significantly contributed, is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or if it should be deleted.
The discussion will take place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dave Larson until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.
To customise your preferences for automated AfD notifications for articles to which you've significantly contributed (or to opt-out entirely), please visit the configuration page. Delivered by SDZeroBot (talk) 01:02, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
The article Dichroic dyes, electronic dyes, liquid crystalline dyes has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Three topics in one page, two of which have existing (and coherent) articles, and the other (electronic dyes) isn't mentioned in the article.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ℰmi1y⧼T·C⧽ 06:22, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
