face2face is a proprietary proximity-based social networking technology delivered through mobile devices that lets users identify when members of their existing social networks are nearby, within walking distance, without sacrificing privacy [1] [2] [3] [4]. face2face uses proprietary proximity-based networking technology to combine and organize existing online social and business networks so its users can learn when people from these networks - as well as friends of their friends - are nearby, yet not the exact location. [2] [4]. face2face keeps users safe in that it does not reveal precise location coordinates, although its technology does have that data.


The face2face mobile application launched in July 2010 [5] for smartphones including the iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, and many J2ME compatible devices [2] [4]. Reviews have shown that face2face is addressing this market need, particularly now as Facebook Places has arrived on the scene, and, as a result, there is increased scrutiny of proximity-based applications. Numerous publications (will include citation here) have reported that face2face is addressing a market need, as it provides the benefits of location-based technology, while not sacrificing individual control and safety. Friends have always been important to Hameed Khan. As he built companies, traveling across the globe, Khan didn’t want friendships to diminish. When “social network” evolved to mean who you knew online, Khan and his friends decided it was time to bring more people face to face as often as they could. Khan grew up in Karachi, Pakistan and went to Yale University. During all these experiences, he watched and took notes as technology and society intersected in impactful ways. As social networking—first online, followed quickly by mobile devices—ballooned in intense popularity, Khan and his close network of business partners were now spread across the world and never missed a chance to catch up if one or more of them were in the same area.

Following graduation from Yale, Khan launched his own construction business, and eventually turned it into a residential real estate sales and rental success. Real estate wasn’t his passion, though, and so he left it behind in '07 to develop the burning idea of using all this technology to keep people more connected than ever. Around this time, Khan began a project with the working title of The Human Video Archive. The archive captured 15-minute stories from people around the globe digitally as a way to give older generations a newer media means to connect and share with younger folks. It was his first attempt to harness the power of connecting people, but it wasn’t enough for him. He went on to found face2face.

In 2009 Khan founded Proximate Global Inc., the company behind face2face, to develop and market an app that aggregated all users’ networks, and has now solved the problems plaguing location-based status alerts. face2face is the first app to combine proximity-based networking technology with a way to organize existing networks. Khan has given mobile phone users the ability to know when people from their social and business networks were nearby, enabling them to connect in person. face2face was launched in July '10 based on Khan’s belief that technology is powerful enough to change behaviors--but needs to be more subtle in its ability to connect. He is currently designing more features and additional products to advance social networking in the real world.

Hey Cirt, thanks for dropping by. From what I am looking at at the moment, the two users have no behavioral crossover at all. All I see is two people editing the same article. If you can provide some diffs that would prove there is some crossover of behavior I can consider asking for a Checkuser, but other than that I don't know how the user connects. I would like to inform you that the best e-mail address to contact this school at would be jleege@powercom.net as the one used during the investigation was obsolete, but the website was out of date (I say this as a former contributer to this website). Its my bot, and I just fixed the webpage, the bot breaks when someone deletes an active case. (I haven't decided exactly how to handle it). If that happens just tweak User:Δ/Sandbox and remove the deleted case. ΔT The only constant 14:57, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

It's okay, I guess it wasn't all that funny. Any joke you have to explain isn't a good one. I've read so many responses like that lately at ANI and other forums that I guess the sarcasm gets lost if you weren't there. The gag was that the first paragraph is the "coughing" because I've contracted those noticeboards like a disease and am "sneezing" crazy incivility. Sounds better when I say it then write it. Feedback - large increase in requests

The graph says it all, really; massive increase since we cleared the backlog and introduced a bit better system. As I've said before, it is a 'victim of its own success', I think. Currently, it is pretty backlogged.

Quite a few get missed, as you can see if you flick through the archives - but I don't know what we can do about that, really, other than hope more people give feedback.

The long-term solution would be to keep these editors; so many come to just create one article, and are never heard of again; if just a few of those stayed, and started giving feedback, then we'd have a more workable system.

I suggest discussion in this WT:FEED section. Cheers!
