Notability of Paul Atherton

edit

A tag has been placed on Paul Atherton, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Corvus cornix 20:38, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Ballet of Change: Piccadilly Circus

edit

Per this, the film is notable. It doen't even matter that you found terrific sourcing and have made strong arguments toward notability. That "The film was selected for preservation in a national archive" says it all. Do not be disheartened. Add your sources. Have faith. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 01:22, 22 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Silent voices

edit

A tag has been placed on Silent voices requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay.

Josh Parris 11:17, 28 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Paul Atherton - help with reinstatement

edit

This help request has been answered. If you need more help, please place a new {{help me}} request on this page followed by your questions, or contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page.

I've noticed that my entry for Paul Atherton has been deleted on notability grounds, 5 years after it was accepted.

The press coverage on Paul has increased over this time and links and notations were added to my contribution.

I've been forthcoming about knowing Paul in my previous posts and didn't believe that to be a reason not to contribute as the evidence to support his notability was substantial (accepted in the National Film Archive, First & Only Director to have film shown on a National Landmark, TV, Radio & press coverage etc.)

It appears that the editor User:Peterforever2 who suggested it's deletion doesn't exist and I would like some help in having the page reinstated Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paul Atherton (2nd nomination)

Normally if a tag for deletion is applied to something I've generated it appears in my user talk. It doesn't appeared to have done so in this instance. So I wasn't able to defend my submission.

Many thanks

Amanda Paul

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Amanda Paul. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:13, 8 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

The COI tag on this talk page was removed by a bot, based on the bot's belief that "Amanda Paul" has not edited for many years. Nevertheless, users with the same viewpoint, tone, and argumentation style repeatedly showed up during those years, probably typing their contributions with the same fingers that once used the sig Amanda Paul. So I would like to preserve that memory here on the talk page. HouseOfChange (talk) 21:26, 4 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Silent Voices DVD Cover.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Silent Voices DVD Cover.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 06:15, 18 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
