Managing a conflict of interest

Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;

The article Charis Cotter has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Noneate (talk) 16:07, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there! I'm a novice wikipedia editor and understand the need for references. I was just trying to start my draft today-- then later add my sources. I will begin adding sources ASAP so the article doesn't get deleted-- but it will take me some time to finish the draft completely and fully cite this article. Amelialife (talk) 16:15, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, please don't draft in the article space, there you're subject to all the rules regarding referencing, notability, etc., and if your draft falls short on any of those, it is liable to be deleted. Draft instead in your sandbox, or preferably in the draft space. To that end, I've just moved this into drafts for you.-- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:59, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks very much! I understand and will be sure to use the draft space in future. Amelialife (talk) 17:02, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

- Hi Theroadislong! I respect your decision but have a question. Many of the sources I used were from an archival source (Pro Quest historical newspapers). There sources are from major newspapers (The Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail). Were these references considered invalid because of being from archives? Other than that I'm confused as to why they don't qualify as those newspapers are the largest in Canada and independent of the subject. Thanks. Amelialife (talk) 15:40, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

Conflict of interest
editHello,
I came here to ask if you have some sort of external relationship with Draft:Charis Cotter and/or Draft:Graham Cotter, but I saw that I already asked that back in May. You haven't responded, though; could you please do so now. Thank you, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:21, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hello! Sorry this is my first venture into Wikipedia and I am still getting used to the platform (somehow I missed your previous message).
- No, I do not have a personal connection other than I am a big fan of Charis Cotter's work. I discovered her father's novels as they were published under her publishing company, and that led me to take an interest in his life and work. Amelialife (talk) 18:03, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- Okay, understood. Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 20:45, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
